PC has been the most dominant and competitive version since at least 2019. The top players have either always played PC or switched versions once they felt comfortable enough.

Make PC great again.

There's a game called Little Fighter 2 that OBS does't detect. "Game Capture" doesn't recognize the game at all and "Window Capture" only records a still frame of the game. This game only runs in window mode and doesn't have video/resolution options. I'm able to record other games that I forced into window mode - they're originally full-screen games with video/resolution options.

I suspect this issue started when I added a second monitor that's connected directly to the CPU. I can't plug it into the GPU right now, so I wonder, what can I do in the meantime?

Shtrudel4 years ago

In OBS Studio, whenever I launch a game, it takes OBS a few seconds before it's displayed in the preview screen/recording. This is not an issue in OBS Classic at all, as it records everything from the get-go. Audio is recorded fine in both versions.

Any idea how to fix this?

Edit: more info:

  • I use game capture as source. Doesn't matter if I run the game in full screen or windowed mode.
  • Window capture doesn't work at all for games. I think that this could be a workaround, but I'd rather not resort to that because I'd have to give up on the resolution I get from game capture.
  • I have the latest version of OBS and I run it as administrator.

Since the game is already supposed to read files that are missing from the CD, All I did was simply to insert the missing files into the ISO.

I don't see any reason why runs with the missing music (or any other music) won't be accepted, but I'm asking just in case.

(Ignore the fact that I put the wrong music in the credits)

The pre-order content will have advantage over non-pre-order:

  • Unique costomes (from what I understand, costumes in the game have their own stats and skills).
  • Early access to some gadgets.
  • Skill points to unlock new things early on.

Which makes me wonder how will you handle the situation. Will it be seperated from standrad copies or will the bonus content be straight up banned?

Hello all. The leaderboards as they're now are somewhat... disjointed. Having a subcategory for each character in the game makes the leaderboards look rather ugly.

I'm making a pilot to split them into subcategories:

  • "Hero Characters" will be dedicated for the 10 regular fighters, from Davis to Deep.
  • "Special Characters" will be dedicated for all variations of characters from the cheat code (lf2.net), from Bat to Julian. This will include Rudolf-With Transformation and Louis-Transformation (Note that you can't transform into LouisEX with the cheat active).
  • I'm also thinking about adding 2 more subcategories: "Soldiers" for all the... soldiers from the cheat code, from Knight to Sorcerer; and "Tamplate/Bandit/Hunter", for the aforementioned characters. These will be included once someone wishes to run these categories.

Times for different characters won't obsolete each other. The leaderboards will showcase your PB for every individual character.

I'd like to see your feedback on the subject.

As title says. That's a completely different game, therefore it should have its own leaderboard. Not sure why I'm not just doing it instead of posting this thread. Guess I'm waiting for feedback from you guys.

In a similar note, instead of giving Xbox a whole tab, making it a subcategory would be enough. Look at how the leaderboards for Sonic R seperate ALL ports: https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_R You could either makes 2 subcategories (one for GCN/PS2/PC and one for Xbox) or - due the minor difference between all the ports (such as loads and different enemy spawns) - make a subcategory for each port also makes sense. And why do this you ask? Because of different categories, Any%, Green Goblin and 100% are all different between Xbox and other ports, for obvious reasons.

Bottom line, the leaderboards as they are now are just a mess.

Hello all, As of today (3/20/2018) we have split the leaderboards of each version, as they are different games entirely and deserve their own leaderboards. Here are links for each version:

PC/Xbox360/PS3: https://www.speedrun.com/Spider-Man_3 PS2/PSP/Wii: https://www.speedrun.com/sm3_ps2pspwii

Other versions that are yet to be included are GBA and DS. They will be added once someone wishes to run them.

Asking for site mod's advice on how to deal with the situation.

Spider-Man is notorious for having many games for many consoles that share the same title, but are completely different from each other. Just to name a few, Web Of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions and all of the movie tie-ins.

However, having a seperate leaderboard for each version is also problematic, as a single game could easily cover half a page in the series page, just for no one to even run it. My idea is to have one leaderboard for the main game and another for all the other versions, seperating them with tabs for each version.

The reason I sugget to seperate the main game only, is because it always tends to have more categories. Take a look for example at the Spider-Man 2 leaderboard ( https://www.speedrun.com/spider-man_2 ). It has many tab for more categories for the main version, but it also has tabs for the other versions.

Examples for games that seperate version are Sonic Generation and Sonic Colors. Sure they had to deal with only 2 versions, but they still did the right thing. Games that only seperate from each other with tabs are usually the same at their core. This is clearly not the same situation.

Spider-Man is notorious for having many games for many consoles that share the same title, but are completely different from each other. Just to name a few, Web Of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions and all of the movie tie-ins. Should'nt we create a seperate page for each version of the game instead of a seperate tab? Since that might be too much (a single game could easily cover half a page in the series page, just for no one to even run it), can we maybe have one page for the main version and another page for "other versions"? I'm asking for this because the main games tend to have more categories, something that makes a mess when another version is a category by itself. Just look at Spider-Man 2, there are many categories for the main game and then there are tabs for a different version, it's just a mess.

An example for a game with seperate pages for the same game is Sonic Heroes. Since it has other glitches and tricks than the other ports, the PC version has a page of its own. https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Heroes https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Heroes_PC For more practical examples, Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations seperated the main games from their DS counterparts. https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Colors_Wii https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Colors_DS https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Generations https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_Generations_3DS

And while I'm at it, why arn't the TASM games listed in this series?

I'm asking since some games I play force me to play with each system.

One game has the camera set to inverted whenever I reset/start a new save file. I can pause the game to fix that, but it costs too much time. The other game simply has only normal camera. The games in between are affected by each system as I need to re-adjust my reflexes every time.

I can practice a bit before I run each game again, but I wonder if some of you have the same issue and found a way to adjust to each system right from the get go.

I'll try to make this short: There's an old game that runs a bit faster than it should, which makes the real time inaccurate (luckily, the game has its own timer, which appears at the end of each stage). There are tools to change the FPS, but 30 is sill too fast and 29 is too slow.

This is a game without any demand reall which I mod (Little Fighter 2), I just want to get advice on what to do. Right now, the important time is IGT, which is sum of all stages together.

  1. Why in the music folder there are 2 files of the track for Andy's House (one called "house", the other called "fullhouse")? Does it have something to do with the Demo?

2a. The voice clips and SFX on the PS version are different from the other ports of the game, the later are reused in "Buzz Lightyear Of The Star Command". Why is that? Were they all recorded by Tim Allen, or did Patrick Warburton record the later clips? 2b. Just something to note, the PS version also has more lines when Buzz faces a boss.

  1. Is it just me, or do the music files all have that "hiss"?

Just want to watch an interesting run. I like to watch runs that abuse AI but don't like runs that glitch the whole game with clipping and that kind of stuff.

Shtrudel7 years ago

for NG+, when it'll be a category.

I myself have done everything except for races and skydive. Since I got nothing (IIRC) from golding all Combat Tours and Bomb Tours, I assume completing the above also gives nothing. If it's true, then I can provide my own save file.

There's no complete save file on the internet at all. All I can find is a save file with all missions complete with both characters.

EDIT: Just rialized the videos were private so you couldn't watch them! I made them unlisted, so you should be able to do so now!

Sorry for the long post. Many things here arn't woth reading. Just watch the videos and read some of the last paragraph, they explain it much better than words anyway.

It is possible to make the chopper shoot at you more than 1 missle per loop. The chopper is programed to reposition and shoot another missle if it was not hit by the fired-back-missle in a certain time - if it was not hit by a missle, it assumes the missle exploded. If you manage to dodge the missle long enough, the chopper would do the above, allowing you to hit it with more missles in a single loop. After the firt missle hits, the chopper will proceed the loop of shooting with missle rain and fast bullets. The best way I found is to spam the Reflex bottun and if needed, run around the area. See the video below: Yes, you can stand on a building nearby or even on the ground. Just make sure you come back to that building before he starts to shoot the bullets or he might flee from there and fail the mission.

This is a perfect example of the trick, because it also shows you how inconsistent it is. Dodging the missle long enough is pretty tricky, even with the abuse of the Reflex, and not every missle even is garanteed to actually deal damage. Still, in theory, you can redirect 6 missles in a single loop, which can save alot of time. Another huge problem is that abusing the Reflex button too can make the chopper to flee from the battlefield, causing you to fail the mission lose even more time. This is pretty rare, yet it's still a threat.

Now look at the "proper" way to do the mission: I fight the chopper as I'm expected to, and you can see that I'm faster around a minute and a half.

After comparing times, being able to hits twice in a single loop can save you up to 20 seconds (took me 40 seconds to land 2 hits in a single loop - as opposed to 54 seconds and 2 loops). That's a minute saved in the best case and it's really not worth it. Try this trick only if you attempt to redirect 6 missles at once. If not, don't bother, because it will just slow you down.

¤ The graphics are glitchy because I play on window mode (With DXWnd). There should be a way to fix that. ¤ I'm playing on the PC version with a (fake) PS3 controller, that's why the control display is numbered instead of... I don't know. It has the same layout as in console versions.

I know the Speedrun method to locking him in the corner, but I always struggle to defeat him the proper way. In other videos I see that it's easy for them to defeat him, but when I try, I can't reach him or he always manages to escape from me. Eventually I do defeat him, but I don't know why sometimes the game allows me to get the hit and sometimes not. I know that I can sort of slow him down with the elevator's engine, but it's still very luck-based.

So what do others see and I don't?

Shtrudel7 years ago

This isn't exactly a speedrun thing, but I can't find any good guides on the web (pun intended) on this subject. As speedrunners, I believe you might be the most reliable source for information.

The side missions are really hard, all of them. And I want tips on how to beat them. I beat all MJ's missions. I'm missing the last Photo mission (I think it's the last, the mission on the island). I havn't started nor got too far on Pizza, Fighting Arena and Race Challenges. And I can't beat them, even with Spider Reflexes (and max swing speed of course).

Most of these requier precice swing, which I sort of have. I follow the speedruns and try to do short and boosted swings to keep my momentum. However, when I started a new game, I found that at lower speeds, I get downward boosts.

So, to summarise:

  1. What is the best way to practice web-swing at any speed for hopefully an actual speedrun?
  2. Can someone upload his playthrough of the side missions? Anyone who does that would be my hero.

Also, I use Normal Swing. I think Pizza missions would be easier with Easy Swing though. And forgive me for this messy thread, it's pretty late at night as I write this half asleep.

I havn't stumbled upon a segmented run on this site, even if a run takes half a day (how do you stay sane during and afterwards?!). The only segmented run I found (which I can't find anymore) was timed by days, which is really long time. There are reasons for a against this type of runs, but I can't list them without going too deep on this subject.

So I want to ask, are segmented runs allowed? In which games should they and should they not, and why?
