Segmented runs are disallowed. Actually, there's a thread further down this forum where I asked exactly this question back in 2017 (geez), and KalarMar gave a great answer already. In short, this is a RTA (real time attack) board, not a segmented or joint-type board.
I ended up just doing full runs, which I practiced for and then planned a day to do the run on in advance.
I saw Baconator108's run he posted in the community Forces channel. Can we get some more runs from other interested people?
The way this game handles some levels, where not every mission actually displays the final time at the end, makes it sorta odd. Maybe we could make ILs for every mission that actually displays the timer in the results screen - but again, we'd like to see runs of these missions beforehand. Can you post some of your ILs?
Emulators are currently not allowed.
I believe the only prerequisite is that we should not fill up the leaderboards with a bunch of empty categories, so we should definitely limit the amount that we add. If we can put together a list of the most-requested ones, we can probably add them. Or, if there's too many, we can put it to a vote.
Have you done a run of it before? Also, that's already a part of All Flags, anyway.
Holy crap, you actually did a 100% run? So far I thought I was the only person to ever do a run. Did you stream the whole thing? Can you post the VOD? We'd need a few more runners to even consider adding it (keep in mind it's a very long run, and only two runners isn't gonna do much), but I'd love to see it slowly grow in popularity.
Another thing, is that I only run 100%, not Platinum Trophy/All Achievements. That'd be a separate category from just 100% - thinking about the trophies, the only difference from 100% would be the Ring King and Constant Connoisseur trophies. Based off my 100% PB my best guess is that those two trophies would add ~4 or so hours to the run, but again, that's just an educated guess.
Still, 100% and Plat/All Achievements would be separated nonetheless.
Would be odd for just one boss to have an IL. I don't see a point unless it's every chapter boss or nothing. Even then, we'd have to come up with timing rules, you'd have to import save files just to do runs - all too much work for categories that would be dead or empty.
So, Cyd responded to me in one of the private mod-only channels in the speedrun community server, and we agreed about this category suggestion: Essentially we want to see more example runs - preferably at least 2 or so more. The bosses are some of the least interesting parts of the game, and we want to see genuine confident interest. I don't expect to see too many other people interested in this.
I get this is brought up a lot, but the other main point is the worry that you all will lose interest in the category not long after it's made. We don't want to yet again fill the board with more categories that will either be empty, or get submitted to a few times, then completely die after a week or two.
Please don't post more than one thread just to ask for more categories. Also, there is not even a remote chance of more categories ever being added due to how inactive this game usually is.
Oh lol I completely forgot All Flags was a thing for a moment, obviously you visit the level more than once in THAT run! Well then, I suppose you should just be careful around that part of the level from now on.
Mossrock 2? You just mean Mossrock Theatre? Well, I have not heard of that crash before. In fact, I can't remember if Color Splash has ever crashed for me... if it has, I clearly don't remember anymore. I don't think I'd bother trying to recreate it though, since it's a crash, so it's useless. If recreating your situation DOES cause the crash consistently, though, then that would definitely be something to avoid from now on!
I've done this exact run before, and it's really boring. It's more or less just a "fast casual playthrough" and I don't foresee that much interest in it. Nothing wrong with doing runs of this on your own time, however, so go ahead.
That's how it is in most communities. Record a full run of the category you want added, and it has a much better chance of being added.
Bittersweet indeed, but this looks like the next logical step for the site to go in. I'm confident in SRC's future. You deserve your break, Pac, and I hope to still see you around every now and then.
Because I think I'm the only one who will ever run it, lol
Loading time differences when it comes to RTA timing, as well as general emulator inaccuracies - and probably the biggest point for both this game and Black Knight is that you can remap the motion controls and put everything on buttons, which is not how the game was meant to be played. Not to mention the advantages you get from that. There can always be emulator categories added if there's demand, though. Don't let that stop you from running on emulator if you want, you just won't be able to submit those runs to this board.
