From the Moderation guide: speedrun.com/knowledgebase/moderation-rules "The site discourages usage of a % sign after an arbitrary category name such as Tutorial%. Many users dislike this naming convention. Common uses such as any%, low%, and 100% are acceptable." Also related to TAS% from the Site Rules: https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/site-rules "Tool-assisted emulator features such as save-states, re-recording, or frame advance are not allowed. Game memory must not be manipulated or monitored with outside tools during runs (For example: Emulator RAM Watch, Cheat Engine). Exceptions can be made on a community basis for convenience. Examples of these conveniences might be item trackers or info HUDs for stream viewers or auto-splitters. These should not include information that would be unknown to the runner. The game itself must not be altered or controlled with outside tools. Exceptions can be made on a community basis (e.g., character creation scripts, logo/cutscene removal dlls, etc.)"

Even outside of the rules range, TAS is a flawed category. Anyone can submit the run to the top of the leaderboard here just by playing back the current best TAS.

I know there is a mobile speedrunning Discord, but is there a general Discord for webgame speedruns? regardless of Flash or HTML5

When the level ends, the player knows exactly how much time was spent playing the level. However, things get tricky when any time within the range of x.0xx appears. The game displays the time incorrectly. When the time is, for example, 6.071, the game will display it as "6.71", which the runner can assume to be 6.710. Except it's not. If it was 6.710, the game would display it in full (as seen in the following run). https://www.speedrun.com/cryomancer_/run/y93plney The game incorrectly displays times that have less than 0.1 of a second. Proof: Here's the video I recorded that demonstrates it perfectly. I had this suspicion ever since I started doing level runs for this game, but did not have any hard evidence to support it. If you use any frame-by-frame tools (or just spamming pause), you'll see how the timer jumps from 9.9 to all the way to 10.8 in just a few frames. This is obviously impossible. The time is - however - correctly displayed in the level selection screen, as seen in the following screenshot. Note that the game rounds the time for some reason. https://i.snipboard.io/TGO30h.jpg This anomaly should be noted in the rules to avoid any possible confusion among the runners in the future. http://www.watchframebyframe.com/watch/yt/BbB53Htrux8 To check the run frame by frame yourself.

If you have any proof someone has cheated or stolen their run, make sure to report it here or contact moderators about it. Thanks in advance.

I've noticed some of the Minecraft series moderators overuse their abilities to add trash fan Minecraft games to the site in large numbers. Not going to call out names but there is clearly a problem. This is the latest added section of All Games as of now: https://i.ibb.co/GQH1zdH/image.png First, Minecraft series mods started adding all of the Editions of the game - which is fully understandable. The series should be complete. Then it got weird with the addition of Minecraft 4K (4kb version of Minecraft which probably wouldn't be added even in the earliest days of the site) and Minicraft (which was later removed from the Minecraft series). What Minecraft series was before is mostly Minecraft maps and servers. Why can Minecraft series mods freely add as much fan games as they want - no quality control whatsoever. When maps/servers were getting added by the series mods it at least had some sort of quality control. Now mods add whatever they want to the site, any Minecraft clone, anything.

  1. How exactly is it "Minecraft" series? These are fan games!
  2. I could probably make a trash flash Minecraft clone that takes 40 seconds to beat, request it, and it would be added by the mods.
  3. The system should be changed at least somewhat. I know site staff knows how important it is not to give too much power to the series moderators, as it is extremely easy to abuse. Why aren't series moderators' added games... you know... checked by site staff? From what it seems right now, everything added by the series mods stay forever on the site, even if the game was removed from the series after (relates to Minicraft). Quality control for site staff added games is real. Quality control for series moderators' added games is not.

Thank you.

Edit: Some people contacted me and told me Minecraft series mods also actively adding PvP related minigames/servers.

Hey everyone!

This forum thread is going to be used to announce all the recent changes to this leaderboard.

New leaderboard was added, called Google Doodle Category Extensions. 3 new categories for Google Whirlybird can be found here, if anyone is interested. speedrun.com/gdce

Can you also add categories for individual levels? (1:1; 3:4; 5:6... etc) Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I don't think it is a good idea to remove the Temp Boost XP category when the Boost ends. Here's what I suggest: Instead of removing the category, create a new misc. category and call it something like "[ARCHIVE] Category Name" and move all the runs from the category you're about to remove there. Maybe even move it in CE instead. There is no reason to submit runs in this category if it's going away forever. Feels just wrong to remove a page from a history book if the current events has changed.

As you might have guessed, it is not entierly clear when to stop the timer. I want to make timing on this leaderboard consistent and fair for everyone. Timer starts the first frame the rope detaches from the gnome, and it isn't a problem at all. The problem is how/when to stop the timer. It is hard to find a frame of the gnome's "finishing" animation to stop the timer on. However, I found something that can finally fix the timing issue. The retry button in the bottom left corner of the screen. https://i.paste.pics/1828f3307f27e566c6af2e178eb2f306.png?trs=52dc07461ec5f1bb96d0adb7238f0ad55fd0e04d06af7ebe9f4239d599813431 How can it help to time runs correctly? You see, the retry button starts to move ONLY after the gnome transformation starts. Knowing that, we can time every single run correctly with a little effort. How can I time my runs if they are already uploaded to YouTube? www.watchframebyframe.com is the site I always use to verify and retime runs frame-perfectly. With this site I can easily find out the exact frame and time when the button started moving. https://i.paste.pics/214b7267cb814c600de9c06e9afc7d43.png?trs=52dc07461ec5f1bb96d0adb7238f0ad55fd0e04d06af7ebe9f4239d599813431 Yes, it is a bit complicated. I would not require the runners to time the runs, heck, it's the mod's job to retime runs. Also it would mean all the runs need to be retimed, which is what I can do myself not to annoy other mods on this leaderboard. I was inactive for over a year and lost my super mod on this leaderboard, this is why I am posting this. I need to hear your opinion. Please share your thoughts in this thread, thanks!

Hey everyone, turns out you can spawn in Hub after making a new profile. Apparently, it only happens when you switch between profiles to much in the span of just a few minutes. When you do it too much, you will get a profile switch cooldown. How can it help us spawn in the hub? (At first, I thought it only works with 3+ available account slots (or VIP and above) and I couldn't get it consistently, but after many tries, it somehow started to work with only 2 slots and every single time.). The trick is to trick the game into creating a new profile, but not warping you to it. You will be in the glitched state - a ghost with an inventory of an old profile but with weird side effects. Example: can't warp to other islands - too low combat/farming/mining skill level, even though your current ghost profile says otherwise.

  1. Make sure you have only 2 accounts - one of which you are going to remove;
  2. Spam between joining one account to another until you get the account switch cooldown;
  3. Keep doing it after you get a cooldown, can't say how much for sure, couldn't get it to work without it;
  4. Go to profile 2 and switch to profile 1 - the one profile that you are going to keep;
  5. It will teleport you to the hub on profile 1;
  6. Go to profiles menu and remove account 2 - it needs to be done quick before account cooldown is active;
  7. Click on a fresh new empty profile space and create a new account 8') Error message appears - it fails to warp you. You are now in a ghost stage, islands you could warp to before are no longer available, even though it says they are.
  8. Click on Hub Selector NPC and switch hubs or relog, either works.
  9. You just spawned in Hub on a fresh profile you have never been on before. This profile never even been on a personal island yet. Because time starts when the player moves, this method completely removes the loading screen from teleporting to hub and time spent entering the portal itself (or /hub). Saves a few seconds overall. Here are 2 videos as a proof. Can also record my screen on my phone if you think these videos are spliced.
  10. The glitch itself (as you can see, it doesn't warp you to a private island after creating this profile, but instead forcing the game to warp to another hub BEFORE the profile even gets to see the private island)
  11. Weird effects of this glitch - can't warp to gold mines, the game thinks I unlocked 8/16 collection items even though profile 1 has all 18 but the new profile has non, etc. Why this works? Probably because admins forgot to add a cooldown for creating a profile. Oops. Or maybe they did, just didn't implement this properly, resulting in a weird ghost mode.

SkyWars extra categories. To use default kit only or not? We need to decide. It is allowed to use any kit in some categories and default only in others. Simply leave a comment A, B or C Community vote: a) Default kit only for every category -many runs will be rejected -kits are a fair part of any game of skywars and will make it less interesting 6) Any kit for every category -runs with not default kit will stay -but some kits already have required to the run items (like Egg%) c) Make subcategories for Default Kit% and Any Kit% for every category. -will take some time to change leaderboard (not really a problem) -again, some kits already contain items required to the run (Egg%)

Mod retimed my run wrongly. 200 - start time 268 - end time Rules say plus one sec. The correct time is 33. My run got retimed to 31. Link to run down below

This runner requested 3 runs with 10 second proof on Obtain Emerald category.

  1. His 3 runs can't be explaned.
  2. He did get an emerald but very very fast on the start.

Any ideas?

If itsjustEpic is reading it, can you explane? If it is not fake and just a glitch, we will consider adding a new category
