oops, looks like the runs that the way time was assigned to runs after splitting the time column into real time and in-game time was inconsistent somehow. should be good now.

Massachusetts, USAMhmd_FVC3 years ago

Alright, I'll add the column and try setting the primary timing method to be IGT for full-game runs, though I'd still suggest including RTA in any full-game submissions in case there's a reason to switch later.

Massachusetts, USAMhmd_FVC3 years ago

Where can the load remover be found? I'm not so keen on the idea of using IGT for a full-game run like that, but proper loadless would definitely be welcome (and for as many long load screens as this game has, probably even the primary timing method).

So MM2 runners discussed why there seemed to be some variations in some people's times for Ignorance is Blitz, and the conclusion was reached that having a high framerate does affect the physics in an advantageous way. This wasn't acceptable, so a baseline of 60 fps was agreed upon (with FPS display required) to keep things fair for everyone.

Now, because this may also affect MM1, I will be enforcing the new rule for this game as well (not that there have been any submissions for ages). You must display your framerate using something like Fraps or Dxtory from now on, with the framerate capped at 60. If you are using VSync with a higher refresh rate than 60, cap your framerate to 60 (Dxtory can do this too, among other programs).

For current runs that do not display the framerate, I have no way of telling what the framerate is, so I would appreciate existing runners checking their settings to see if either VSync is disabled for the game, or mentioning if the monitor used at the time of the runs was better than 60hz to retroactively apply the rule. @OsamaJT @Niloquì @bluluxabica @reaXn @talal @Swaggles

I'm not familiar with this problem, but I'd try going to where the script is and deleting it, deactivating the autosplitter, restarting LiveSplit and then reactivating the autosplitter and seeing what happens.

There's a Wonder Race category for AoE2, but no convenient game mode like that for AoE1 unfortunately. The settings would have to be very specific (same map size, number of AI, on top of low resources and stone age). If I were to come up with one, it'd be 4-player, medium map size, hardest difficulty, conquest. But even then, some of the scenarios play out somewhat similarly to RM, like I Shall Return in the Babylon campaign.

I think it also depends on whether the thing that was changed should be considered a glitch. Glitches aren't permitted for this very reason, but this could actually be a case of having to retroactively consider something a glitch and rejecting old runs using it. I feel like in this case it's reasonable to assume it was a "glitch" that the devs decided to "fix" rather than some random change, but I don't feel like jumping to conclusions so the discussion over whether it's a glitch or not should happen first.

shortcut to race 1 with PCJ, saves 5-6s compared to taking the road the whole way. similar tier to the ractrot stadiumjump but I think you could make this a bit more consistent, though you could also get ultraboned and be on the other side of the fence from the pcj

Since the IL boards been around, the side missions which come with timers have been timed using that timer, or whatever other in-game time could be used. I never thought it'd be problematic enough to affect rankings, but it's common knowledge that in-game time in GTA is pretty much trash.

This has come to its logical conclusion since we've realized that the in-game timer on the mobile version (and to a certain extent, console versions) of the game runs more slowly than the actual game itself (which is also extremely slow on mobile), so you can get a worse run on console or mobile with a faster in-game time. This is unacceptable, and as such we've made the decision to standardize timing. The start and end of timing for these ILs will remain as before, only using real time as the standard. This also finally solves the impossible PS2 WRs mystery. Unfortunately, this also digs the grave for the mobile version in terms of competitiveness in these ILs, but its disadvantage in speed is already reflected in RTA-timed ILs and the main board, so it should be consistent. Who knows if we'll see the day that version is faster at anything now.

better driving route to hospital/ammu after tbd duping is finished, saves 2-3s compared to driving through hyman for hospital or the old back route (or even more if you do it better)

@hydewx I don't know if you got "no alert" in the screen after beating it, but near the end where the alert music plays seems like an alert

For existing full runs I'll just set the loadless time equal to the loadful time, and if anyone wants to manually time loads in their existing runs then I'll update the times (or I'll just make you a mod).

Massachusetts, USAMhmd_FVC3 years ago

Nice going Niloquí. I changed some of the game settings to have "time without loads" and "time with loads" for full game runs, as well as "in-game time" for ILs. The RTA fields should be left untouched for IL runs and the in-game time should be left alone for full-game runs, but apparently I can't make timing settings specific for ILs or full-game unfortunately.

Also, the autosplitter can be added to the livesplit autosplitter XML (https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplit/blob/master/Documentation/Auto-Splitters.md#adding-an-auto-splitter) so that it shows up in "edit splits" when the game is set to MM2 without needing to download the script yourself.

If you want, you can give me a link to a permanent invite and I can attach it to the game so it shows up in the sidebar

Just download the foobar/winamp versions it specifies. Mute command means it mutes the player directly when you're not in a vehicle etc., volume keypress means it sends volume control keys (but I think it's bugged in win10 since it just affects system volume), and pause command means it just sends the pause command, which you'll need to bind as a global hotkey in your media player.

I've tried it with foobar with a version close to the one specified (not the exact one because it wasn't on their downloads page) and the program crashed for me at some point though so maybe you'd have better luck with winamp. You can also use any other media player but you won't be able to take advantage of the mute feature.
