Yeah, I'll post here and on the drive when I do update.

Just updated the USA route, not sure how it will affect your guide, but a submission will happen tomorrow, and the doc will update after that.

I have routes+notes for Layton 1, 2, 3 and 5. If you want, I could put them in a drive.

The Medal of Completion can be gotten before the loss of control, but one part of the collection, Grandiose Diorama, cannot. It only appears during the epilogue, but there is no way to get to it without finishing the game. Completing the collection doesn't do anything at all, so completing the collection would be everything except the final piece. Layton Challenges aren't part of the main game, they are in the bonuses and are unlocked after completing the 3 mini-games (Toy Robot, Shopkeeping, Bunny Show) during the game, and can only be accessed from the main menu before loading the save file of a game which has the mini-games completed to such a degree. If 100% is in-game content, then the Layton Challenges and the Grandiose Diorama probably shouldn't count. Since it's just me and wiiarctus playing this game, I'd like his opinion as well.

Just want some clarification on what is necessary before I start routing this category.

  1. Is collection required? 1a. Is collection required before end of game (besides Grandiose Diorama)? 1b. How would the "Medal of Completion" work (unsure if you can get it before credits)? 1b. How would this be verified in either case of 1a?
  2. Why are minigames required to be complete before end of game? 2a. When would this be verified?
  3. Are the Layton Challenges required (Puzzles 136-150)? 3a. When would time end for this category? 3b. Since there is no way to skip the credits/epilogue cutscene, will time be running all through credits/cutscene until the challenges begin?

Thanks for the replies Sealophile and Girtana. I'm currently working on a factual guide, which links the shape/color of the fossils to which piece so it's easier to discard the fossils you don't need. In terms of strategies, I've not had many problems in the early game (Pro-CH3ish) just using Spinax, Megalo and Siamo.

I've been timing my runs until the OK on the last mystery, ie before the cutscene that can't be skipped, since movement and mashing is important in this sort of game (where there are very few actual skips). Just my thoughts, but I'll try and record my runs in the future, maybe stream as well. Also, what are people's PB's? I've homebrewed my route and get sub 3:40 regularly, and I can't really find anywhere to cut time to get sub 3 like tyan did.

Another thing, should there be a distinction in category between getting all puzzles in a game, getting all puzzles and side quests, and getting all puzzles, side quests and hint coins?

Welcome to Fossil Fighters. This game is best described as a combination of Pokemon and Digimon, but it is so much more. I am working on making guides for any% and 99%/100%. Comment anything you'd like to know or any glitches you can find.
