@jgabby join the discord linked right under the game name at the top of the board or post it in the forum if you don't want to join discord for some reason. Also be sure to show video proof!

Please remove the Rejected/Pending filters from the public leaderboards. Multiple speedrunning communities went through hell 3 years ago arguing whether or not people should still be given a platform even if they have serious allegations against them, and now everyone who was removed is back on the boards plain to see. It's a gigantic slap in the face to everyone who had to go through that, and also a slap to moderators in general.

This isn't even taking into account all the cheated times that are now being given a platform.

Super late on posting here but I actually did a handful of NG+ categories I named "All Main Stages and "All Stages" back in April/May for a bit if anyone's interested. All Main Stages is all stages except Treasure Roads. Including Arrival Point, anything in the main overworld, and all of the Forgo Dreams levels as well. All Stages is the exact same but it includes Treasure Roads as well.

I haven't done much runs of anything recently bc I just flat out haven't been in a speedrunning mood but I'll likely come back to one or both categories sooner rather then later.

My All Main Stages PB took around 1:53 and you can watch it here:

And my All Stages PB took around 3:30 and you can watch it here:

Just wanted to bump this forum up again to mention I added "Challenge Mode: All Characters" as a category to the board, and currently have 2 sub categories for it: "3-Ring Difficulty" and "All Difficulties".

I also have made a bunch of changes to the board too, and have a couple things I've been on the fence of adding/changing, including IL boards for individual character's Challenge Mode runs. Details can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/sonicbattle/news/931

Personally I think the rules for what is and isn't allowed on a cloud save should be made on a case by case basis. That being said I don't really feel right with allowing it, it just feels kind of dirty in general to do. Something that feels akin to someone submitting an 5 hour RTA run to a Classic Sonic game but with a super low In-Game Timer because they decided to take a nap halfway through the run.

That being said though I don't necessarily think just saying "it doesn't feel right" without any basis towards them is a super solid reasoning, and I can also imagine this being a nightmare situation for mods to regulate. I can imagine a situation where someone could sneak in a AC:NO submission that had a premade save with 11-13 powered on hours clocked in, just enough time where it wouldn't go off until after World of Light was finished but would go off before the run is over, just so it wouldn't be something mods would easily notice unless mods combed over every second of the run. I know that category isn't exactly the most popular category to run so it's not like submissions come flying in every week but it still feels like an obnoxious burden to expect mods to bear.

So I guess I'm unsure how to feel about it but also lean more towards don't allow it if that makes sense.

Ultimate Edition is allowed, and is even a variable on the boards!

Idk if you ended up figuring it out yet but the link is right below the follow button. I know it's hard to see now with the new update but it's there.

"This video is unavailable"

I guess that answers your own question =|

Madtaz642 years ago

alternatively you could also download your vod using twitch's video producer tool then cut it up using a video editing program, if you know how to do that

I guess this is a good place to mention this: I decided to spend a bit of time looking into the potential of Challenge Mode speedruns for Sonic Battle about a week ago. I went through every character every difficulty with a timer to see how long it'd take (2 sessions bc I wasn't in the mood to do it in 1 sitting lol) and it took me almost 5 hours. Ideally it'd probably take 3-4 hours but 1) that's long and extremely repetitive and 2) my god fighting them on 1-Ring difficulty sucks ass the characters barely chase you at ALL so you have to chase each one individually and it blows chunks.

So I tried did a couple runs of "All Characters 3-Ring Difficulty" (Name Pending) and I did it in 1:32:29 RTA

I figure it could be a good category for people wanting to get into speedrunning the game because it's not too long, not too short, and doesn't have nearly as much downtime as any of the Story Mode Categories do (I personally don't mind downtime but I can understand why people find it a bit much)

The category also has the possibility of being timed by IGT (In-Game Time) sorta because at the end of each battle it does tell you the time. Idk how people would feel about it but we could talk about it more in the Speedrunning discord as well. Hell, if enough interest pops up sometime in the future there could also be IL boards added for Challenge Mode.

Hey, I just wanted to see if I can get Banjo-Kazooie: Stay at Home listed as a romhack for Banjo-Kazooie? Link is here: speedrun.com/bksah/

Also is it not possible for the title of the game to have the word "at" capitalized? I thought I wrote it like that but apparently I didn't, and it's irking me lol

Hey, so recently there has been talk of the banjo community creating a website/wiki of sorts just for banjo speedrunning focused content. Which if we do we' would have it on the sidebar for all of the games in the banjo-kazooie series. The only issue is currently the Banjo-Tooie leaderboards have that spot set to redirect to the category extensions google doc, so we would have to choose between one or the other. So I was wondering if there were any plans to add the ability to add multiple external links in the future, as well the ability to change the name that shows up on the sidebar for said links, so that I could specify which is the as of now theoretical wiki and which is the category extensions doc.

Hey man it's always great to see someone taking interest in running and developing lesser ran categories! I know a couple of people have done All Time Stones before, but there hasn't been much enthusiasm to take the category seriously, a lot of times it's just due to people not liking the special stages much in general. But hey, maybe you keeping at it will inspire more people to join you in running the category, and if there's enough interest, we might end up adding ATS to the boards someday!

I do know that the route for the normal stages is pretty similar to any%, aside from a few stages you would want to go out of your way to get extra rings of course. I would recommend joining the discord and asking for any tips for runs/routing in general. Even though there isn't a lot of people active, there's still a sizable amount of people running it every now and then. Also check out Chronoon's any% tutorial, because while ATS isn't exactly similar to Any% there's a lot of stuff done in any% that would also be done in ATS. Also might wanna ping Chronoon in the discord too, bc he has looked into ATS before and has a general idea of what stages would be better to get time stones in, even if it has probably been a good long while since he's looked into the category.

Hey man, sorry for the late response, been preoccupied. We already discussed the possibility of making an external CD 2011 IL board on a google doc over here: https://www.speedrun.com/Sonic_CD_2011/thread/d7fw0 if you want to read my purposed idea there and discuss it. Though to be honest I never got around to making said board for various reasons, I might end up trying to make a mockup of the idea in the future if there's interest.

Madtaz646 years ago

Incorrect Finalflame. The reason we haven't done ILs boards as far as I know (aside from TSC) is due to fear that there'd be lack of interest in it. But unless I've heard differently, that doesn't mean it won't ever change.

My issue with TSC's IL board is that it only keeps track of ILs for any% and even then it accepts every stage variant as one stage. Given the nature of the game I feel like there's a LOT more potential not being taken advantage of there. Personally, I've had a few ideas myself for a fully decked out IL board, One idea was having boards for both getting good future and boards for getting good future AND the Metal Sonic Hologram (maybe one for just getting the msh too). Another being having ILs for each time period any%, so for example you would have:

PP1 (Sonic 2011): -Starting Point 1-A (Present) -Starting Point 1-B (Past) -Starting Point 1-C (Good Future) -Starting Point 1-D (Bad Future)

Hell, we could do something similar with the Good Future & Savior of the Planet variants too, though MAYBE a bit condensed because having to travel from the future to the past might be a bit much. It could look like this:

PP1 (Sonic 2011): -Starting point 1-A (Past) -Starting point any time period

Or it could look like the previous example, either way is fine. Anyways though this might honestly be something that would work better in a google doc regardless, maybe I'll try to whip up a concept type thing within the next week or so because it'd be pretty fucking cool to see even if it's just in a google doc.

Oh, awesome, great to see/hear about more runners! I actually did do a few All Levels runs a few months back, only a couple weeks worth though because other speedgames/life priorities and such. It's a fun run, but really hard (at least, for me it was). I did however find a couple cool strats for it that hopefully you'll be able to see well in my pb vod I'm about to submit. A couple of big ones I wanna mention is the strat I did to get a star using those big circle things in 3-1, as well as the version of 6-2 skip I did. I also have a clip of me doing it with Peach: w/ peach I was only able to do it by using the doors to reset the enemy positions, though even if I found a way to do it w/o the doors I think Luigi is likely still faster.

Also, there was a weird speedboost I got from an enemy, maybe might be useful as speedtech?

There is! but it's part of the general Sonic series speedrunning discord https://discord.gg/VqkNCEe just a note though, you'll only be able to talk in one chat for the time being, but people can and will definitely help you in that chatroom! Also if nothing else if you're trying to learn Sonic any% Chronoon made a guide for each level, check the guide section for that. Maybe one day us other runners will stop being lazy and make proper guides for the other categories on the board

Sorry about that Knuxmaster368, we ended up forgetting to add a lot of versions to the list due to the fact that most people would prefer to run pc/console over the ios version.

Also, we talked about the ios version patching the milliseconds bug and edited the rules to account for that when submitting runs, so in the future you don't have to rule out milliseconds when adding up level times.

We do not accept runs without video proof, so if you want your run to be accepted then record you doing the run in its entirety and submit it.
