Also I would probably just add the category for both, and let Type-A sit as an empty category until somebody does a run.

While I don't necessarily think there would be confusion by runners experienced enough to want to try this, I also wouldn't want to have anybody wondering if there were a reason it could only be accomplished in Type-B.

I absolutely support this. Yua is a great runner that I know from the Z1 community, so I'm not surprised to see that he took on and completed such a challenge.

Whether the category would be popular doesn't matter. Plenty of games have "extreme" categories that are undertaken by only the select few who want a big mountain to climb.

Such an accomplishment should surely be noted for Yuaryuc and anybody who completes it in the future, and if not here then where.

Jinno, could you get a quick PB or casual time for posting off of FCEUX or something, at least for the quick category? We do have a consensus here but you started out putting this game on the map for a lot of us and it would suck if you're knocked off the boards because you can't get a capture.

I agree. Video proof is a standard basic requirement on pretty much all speedrun boards.

@ViruseReturns VReznor went after the change made, sarcastically. Rottdawg hit Rez, rudely. You see how it has escalated, as I said right? Of course we can rehash the poo-flinging from the other night all we want. I still have yet to see the rationale for the change made, any community support for it, or any desire to create community support for it (which, again, should have been done BEFORE the change). Even the early, respectful comments from Eunos and sYn went unaddressed.

I'll note that a moderator of this board reacted to the very first bit of criticism with, "I guess that's hard to figure out for someone like you." The rudeness has come from both sides, not just Zelda runners and has escalated from there. I agree it has been largely unproductive. At no point did the individual who made this change really argue why it was necessary.

So instead of continuing this escalation and trying to claim some sort of Zelda runners vs Tetris runners factionalism - there's a bunch of us in here but it's safe to say the communities overlap - how about any defense of why this move needed to be made? It clearly has almost zero community support and there's a petition full of "yeas" to change it back in the other thread. Remember the golden rule from Klashik's Guide to Good Moderation: “'You do not decide for the community, the community decides for you.' Or alternatively: 'You are a representative of the community, not the ruler.'"

Man you can definitely tell you made a banner unilateral moderating decision when you have to defend it by lashing out with insults. Attacking a new Z1 runner's time on a board that has nothing to do with Zelda, very nice.

I'm proud of Rez's quick sub-40 and so is the rest of the Zelda community. If you think you can do better, we have a tourney incoming. Put up.

I can agree that the full game categories really should be the primary focus of the board, particularly as they may get more attention from the NES community since Darkwing has returned to running Type-B. As such the boards have been rearranged to prefer the 99 levels runs. However the partial game (20 levels, 50 levels) categories will stay, as will the ILs. They've been crucial in encouraging new runners to a game that many NES runners had not really given much attention.

As for the concerns of these NES runners, I will note that I have not heard from any of them directly. I don't know if Rob has. I do not see any messages in here other than this one. I admit I don't give this game full attention much anymore, but I would have expected that anyone with feedback regarding the handling of this board would approach Robf00f, if not me, before bringing their concerns to site admins. My Twitter is linked from my profile, and he has a whole host of social media contacts linked to his.

I will contact him on the Miscellaneous "select warp" categories. They are relatively new and I am uncertain what those entail so I would not be comfortable editing/deleting those without input from him or others who have run this game and those categories.

I've taken a look at the Time Race mode and am open to this idea. I don't know about having 12 individual level times, but instead maybe 3 categories going by Easy, Medium, Hard. Each of these would still be short runs. Let me discuss this a bit with rob on specifically how to sort this.
