Hey everyone! The annual Luigi's Mansion No OoB tournament is back for the 8th year in a row. I'm pleased to announce we are once again partnering with SpeedGaming and are super grateful that they continue to host us after all these years! There aren't too many changes to touch base on this year, so I'll get right into the details.

For starters, we held a poll to determine whether this tournament should be single or double elimination, and double elimination won the poll by four votes. This is also a free to enter tournament and there is no tentative prize pot, however if you would like to contribute something you can get with me and we can set that up.

We're sticking with the normal format of having a week long cap to get your matches done per round. When you and your opponent schedule a match, please stay committed to the date and time you and your opponent have set. If you need to reschedule, please let me or one of the admins know so we can get that situated. If everyone has finished their match before the week is up, then we will proceed with the next round immediately. If you finish your match before the week is up, and your next opponent has also, then feel free to go ahead and do that match at any time. In past tournaments we've had quite a few no shows, but we're getting better at ensuring that doesn't happen again. If you don't let an admin know that you can't make your match on the scheduled date, then your opponent will get the win for that round.

We're once again calling on people with good knowledge and expertise of the game to sign up for commentary. Like last time, I'm going to be making a list of all the people interested in commentating, and we're going to have a set cap on the number of commentary slots available based on the number of entrants. We'll then pick from the list who we think is best suited for the role, based on past commentary experiences and overall general knowledge on the game. This is to cut down on the number of people who've said they were interested in commentating, and then never end up commentating a single match, or as few matches as possible. So if you're interested in commentating, don't hesitate to shoot me a DM on Discord. (Note to the Mods: If someone tells you they're interested in commentating, have them reach out to me so I can have an accurate count on who is interested.)

Only people who are playing on legitimate hardware will be allowed to compete (No EMU, or USB) to give fairness to everyone else competing.

Listed below is a link to the Challonge bracket where you can sign up. Sign-ups are officially open, so you can register for the tournament at your discretion. Sign-ups end on May 25th and the tournament will begin on June 5th. Best of luck to everyone competing!

Hello everyone! With the help of JaredsGiantz, we have decided to experiment with a 100% tournament for the first time. We are once again partnering with SpeedGaming. It's important to note, as previously stated, this tournament is purely experimental, and there are several rules to touch base on that differ from our usual No OoB tournaments.

For starters, like our last No OoB tournament, this will NOT have an entry fee. This tournament is strictly for fun, so we will not have a guaranteed prize pot, unless it is community funded and people want to put some money together to contribute.

IMPORTANT RULES/CHANGES TO NOTE: -As per usual, we will stick with our week long cap of getting matches done, however, if all matches in a round are completed in a week, the next round will progress the following day. -Seeing as how 100% Is much different than No OoB, money plays a huge factor in the run. Due to this, both your time and money count will be locked in after completing the run. You CANNOT go back into the file and collect more money in order for your run to count. We believe this will make for more exciting races, as well as gives players with worse times the opportunity to capitalize on their opponents mistakes. Again, this ruleset is purely experimental and we will base any future 100% tournaments around how this rule plays out. -If both racers don't have the money, then they will need to schedule a rematch at the earliest possible convenience (we believe this likely won't be an issue, as we're sure this will encourage people to do safer money routes than they usually would in actual attempts.)

Once again we are calling on people with good knowledge and expertise to sign up for commentary for this years tournament. We've run into issues every year where we would have to do a match without any commentators as none were available at the time of the match, or people signed up and missed the match entirely without any warning. To prevent this from happening, we'll be implementing a 2-strike system. If you sign up for a match and miss it entirely without warning, you'll be given a strike. After 2 strikes, you'll be prohibited from commentating for the rest of the tournament. If you sign up to commentate a match and can't make it, please let somebody know so we can try to find a replacement in time. If you would like to commentate, send me or JaredsGiantz a DM on Discord. SERIOUS REQUESTS ONLY!

Lastly, when you schedule your match please stay committed to the date and time you and your opponent have scheduled. If you need to reschedule, please let one of the admins and your opponent know. We don't need any more no shows this year. Only people playing on legitimate hardware will be allowed to compete (No Emulator, no USB, etc.) to give fairness to everyone else competing!

Listed below is a link to the Challonge bracket where you can sign up! You have until October 1st to register and the tournament will begin on October 8th. As in years past, this is a double elimination tournament and you will have one week to complete your match per round.

We strongly encourage and appreciate people who sign up to help us run this experimental tournament. If this goes well, expect more like it, possibly annually!

Hello everyone! The yearly Luigi's Mansion Any% (No OoB) tournament is back for the 6th year in a row! We are once again partnering with SpeedGaming and are grateful that they're hosting us after 4 years of doing so. There aren't too many changes to touch base on this year, as things are generally going to be the same as in years past, however there are some minor tweaks that I'll discuss.

For starters, this years tournament will NOT have an entry fee. Prior to last years tournament, all of our Luigi's Mansion tournaments were free to enter, but we experimented with a $3 entry fee last year, to give people more of an incentive to complete their matches. Ultimately this led to not many people entering and didn't really affect much as far as completing matches went. So, once again, this is a free to enter tournament!

For the past couple of years participants had to sign up through Matcherino in order to participate and stored everybody's entry fee. However, this year we won't be using Matcherino as there isn't really a point anymore, and I plan on putting forth a good majority of the prize pot myself. If anyone else would like to contribute and add to the prize pot, feel free to send me a message on Discord.

Once again we are calling on people with good knowledge and expertise to sign up for commentary for this years tournament. We've run into issues every year where we would have to do a match without any commentators as none were available at the time of the match, or people signed up and missed the match entirely without any warning. To prevent this from happening, we'll be implementing a 3-strike system. If you sign up for a match and miss it entirely without warning, you'll be given a strike. SERIOUS REQUESTS ONLY!

Lastly, when you schedule your match please stay committed to the date and time you and your opponent have scheduled. If you need to reschedule, please let one of the admins and your opponent know. The order in which the runner's are in doesn't really matter. As long as everyone participating in the run are listed is the only thing that matters

Hello everyone! It's that time of year again. The yearly Luigi's Mansion No OOB tournament is back for the 5th year in a row! This year's tournament is generally going to be the same as year's past, but there are certain things we're changing to make things more organized for not only the admin's involved, but for SpeedGaming as well, since they have so many other tournament's to focus on.

For starter's, there will be a $3 entry fee in order to compete. I understand this might deter a lot of you from wanting to participate, especially if you believe you have no shot of winning. However, we've dealt with a lot of people in previous tournament's who would sign up, and then proceed to not do their matches, or schedule their matches and not do them. Not only does this create a lot of confusion, but it's also annoying to everyone else involved. With that being said, we believe this is the best approach to take, as that will likely be avoided with an entry fee. Everybody's entry fee will be donated in full to the prize pot! If you pay your entry fee and have to back out of the tournament, there will be no refunds.

We are once again partnering with SpeedGaming this year. Last year you had to sign up through the Challonge bracket and Matcherino. Unlike last year, you'll have to sign up through Matcherino and pay your entry fee through that site before you're given a link to sign up through the Challonge bracket. I will DM each individual person a link to the Challonge bracket to sign up once your entry fee has been paid. If you somehow find a link to the Challonge bracket and sign up before you pay your entry fee, you will be ineligible to compete in this year's tournament. We simply don't want anyone trying to avoid paying their entry fee.

We are also in dire need of commentator's. In previous year's we've had to do matches without commentator's. There were also situations where we stumbled looking for last minute commentator's. We had a lot of people come to us and say they would commentate, but most were unwilling to step up and actually commentate matches, so I urge you, if you have an understanding of the speedrun and are willing to commentate some matches throughout the entirety of the tournament, please sign up. SERIOUS REQUESTS ONLY!

Lastly, to recap, when you schedule your match please stay committed to the date and time you and your opponent have scheduled. If you need to reschedule, please let one of the admin's and your opponent know. We don't need any more no show's this year. Only people playing on legitimate hardware will be allowed to compete (No Emulator, no USB, etc.) to give fairness to everyone else competing!

It's gonna be another great year, so let's all have fun and make the most of it!

As far as the release date goes, SR.com doesn't allow you to put a date after the current date, and the boards were added back in September. Thanks for updating it

Hello everyone! It's that time of year again, and the yearly Luigi's Mansion tournament is among us. Every year we host a No OOB Tournament that anyone can enter, and have a chance to win some cash prizes as well. Signups for the tournament will run through the remainder of April, and until the end of May, so you will have plenty of time to practice until you're satisfied with your gameplay. Seeding will be determined by your placement with everyone else on the leaderboard. Please also keep in mind that seeding will not be finalized until signup's close!

This year will be a little bit different regarding the payouts. First, second, and third place will get paid this year, unlike years prior. Money amounts will be determined by the prize pool we have which will be varied.

The next big change will be the actual money itself. Since Michael and I are running the tournament this year, instead of Adam, we are a bit limited on money, however, we are contributing the majority of the pot and it will be at least $300. (Please note, if you wish to contribute to the prize pot contact either myself or MichaelT00 on Discord!)

This year's tournament will be hosted by the great people over at Speedgaming once again, who did an amazing job last year, dealing with some of the "incidents" we threw at them with the first tourney. So let's try not to cause problems for them this year. :)

Nextly, I would like to talk about the new site we are using this year, called, "Matcherino." Matcherino is a site where the prize pool will be located. You can donate directly to the prize pool, or buy some merchandise. (Once again, contact either myself or Michael if you would like to contribute.)

Now we will talk about commentator's for this year's tournament. If you wish to be a commentator, please contact either myself or Michael. Being a commentator means you need to actually be committed to the matches you sign up for. Like last year, we stumbled upon a lot of problems with this, and were in dire need of last minute commentators, and we definitely don't need a repeat this year.

Lastly, I would like to recap and talk about the rule set for this year's tournament. Once again, this will be a No OOB tournament, which will be open to everyone. It will be just like the other's where we will schedule the match and Speedgaming will host it. Please make sure when you schedule the match, that you make it to the match on TIME. If something comes up, please give NOTICE. Only runner's on console will be allowed to partake, so runner's on unofficial hardware (emulator, USB, etc.) will not be allowed to participate to give fairness to everyone else.

It's gonna be a good tournament, so let's make the most of it, and most importantly, let's all have fun!

SIGN UP LINK: https://challonge.com/4rak8846

MATCHERINO LINK: https://matcherino.com/tournaments/14922/overview

Last note, PLEASE join up on BOTH links, one is for the bracket, and one will allow you to get a payout!

Out of Bounds is not possible on 3DS. There's no way to gain entry to Floor 1.5, as Chauncey's chest is pushed forward so you can't clip behind it, since it's not against the wall

Georgia, USAHDlax5 years ago

If you're getting knocked in bounds you're not holding the C-Stick down long enough. If the skew is too good, then Luigi can't maintain the angle while out of bounds and he gets pushed back in bounds. If you don't hold the C-Stick long enough, then the skew won't be good enough. Just experiment around with it, and try holding it a little longer, since you keep clipping back in bounds. Happy learning!

USB was allowed for the longest time because the rules were very unclear back then. The former WR holder at the time manipulated people into believing USB was only 2 seconds faster, and with him being the WR holder, he was believed. Bonesaw tried to tell everyone that it's much faster than 2 seconds, but was shunned away by the Community. The rules are clear now, as it has been confirmed that it's about a minute faster, and all USB Loaded times have been removed from the board.

Yeah, I don't think we're changing that rule anytime soon. Sorry.

Georgia, USAHDlax6 years ago

Emulator's have been banned for this game long before I became a mod. Even if the load times are shorter; the no lag makes it unfair. We're just enforcing the rules.

Georgia, USAHDlax6 years ago

Well, I'm sorry to hear this, but this is ultimately what we decided to do. If you don't want to pay to get the disc, then you must not care too much.

Georgia, USAHDlax6 years ago

We're not SM64. Our rules are totally different from their's.

Hydro, Monado, and Capridog like this
Georgia, USAHDlax6 years ago

Basically what Halfa said. We wouldn't want any confusion of there being two of the same games on the leaderboards, but one for emulator and one for console. That wouldn't seem to fair to the people that bought the game, when they could post their times for on a separate board.

PAL Normal Mansion is the same as NTSC, so that would more than likely fall into the NTSC category. As of now, no one runs PAL OOB.
