Since very nearly everything is on a self timer in this game, isn't the only source of optimization just doing the boss fights quicker?

The service used to post videos on Crossy Road, "Everyplay", shutdown on the 1st of this month. Even though the videos have now vanished, the runs using the service will remain on the leaderboards. Any runs moving forward that submit an Everplay link for its video will be rejected.

I changed the categories because the way they were named and setup before were terrible. Doubt anyone cares as this game doesn't seem to be even remotely active.

Hello everyone! I'm Francesco, and I'll be the main mod over here on this leaderboard. Here are a few important notes about the leaderboards here:

  1. Many variables that appear over on the main MKWii leaderboards will not appear over here, like different item settings and skips/ no skips. This is mostly to simplify the leaderboards given these are all meme categories. Thus, all runs with these variables will be done under the following settings: 150cc, Skips Allowed, Balanced Items.
  2. For all appropriate categories on this leaderboard, we will be using IGT! This will be the main basis in which runs are judged, excluding the categories where it doesn't make any sense. Happy Speedrunning!

Our IRL% run got rejected because we broke pencils then proceeded to sharpen them. Whatever if that’s not allowed, but specify in your rules. Nowhere does it say you can’t do that, so obviously that implies you can. People have also said multiple times on the forum that you’re allowed to break pencils and it was never refuted by the mods. So fix your stuff.

I'm planning on trying to do an 100% Run tonight. Not necessarily to get it added as a category (although I wouldn't be opposed to that), but more so just to try it out because I think it'll be pretty fun. I was wondering what you guys think would be technically 100% completion. I was thinking it would be Gold trophies in every cup, completing mission mode (that would entail stars on every mission until Level 7, and in level 7 the only requirement would be to complete every mission), and unlocking every staff ghost. @Goomba I'd preferably like your opinion on this, but others can chime in as well.

I would've thought that @charlocharlie 's writeup as to why the switch was needed would've been enough to actually get this to happen, but it hasn't yet. If it's an issue of it being too much work, I'd be happy to assist in converting all of the runs to IGT. I also realize there are tons of runs without video, including many of mine, but I for one would gladly be for a switch to videos being mandatory. Response from a mod would be greatly appreciated.

So a little while ago I submitted a flash game called Mario mini golf. It’s a dumb game admittedly, but it actually has a lot of variables making it a good speedgame and my friend and I have a lot of fun doing runs of it. Then, the game got rejected. I understand that’s going to happen sometimes, so I wasn’t upset until I saw the reason for rejection. The reason provided was that it “doesn’t seem notable enough for the confusion it causes on the search bar”. So basically what this is telling me is that games are not being judged on whether or not they’re good speed games, oh no. It’s being judged as to whether or not it’s going to confuse us stupid idiots that are members of this site. God forbid we need to click on the game to be able to discern what game it is we’re about to play. Anyways, sorry, I couldn’t help but to get sarcastic. First I'd like to preface this by saying I've tried going to the mkwii discord about this and that accomplished nothing. Essentially, Mario kart wii only has one active mod. For a game as large as it is this is simply not ok. I've talked with Jcool (the only active mod) a bit personally and he's made it clear that there definitely should be more mods helping him out. I'd be more than willing to be a mod, given that I'm very active on the site and am very knowledgeable of the game. I'd also recommend the users "Insane" and "Frikkinfriks14" to be added as mods as well as they've both shown that they're willing to be mods and are knowledgeable of mkwii. Also it should be clear that this is nothing personal to the other mods, just simply that I care about the community for this game and having the one and only active mod for the game overwhelmed with managing the game is really bad for the community in the long run. Thanks for the help!

So here's the dilemma I'm having. Whenever I go to run unlock all games, and more importantly whenever I reset, I have to delete my wii play save file. Simply starting with a fresh mii still leaves all of the games unlocked. This could be potentially solved by just creating another "all games" category, which would be the same as unlock everything just without having to delete your file. I was also thinking that a tab could just be created reading "medals%", or something along those lines, where there's subcategories for all bronze, all silver, all gold, and all platinum. This would be more accommodating for runners that aren't quite as skilled along with making faster runs.

Here I will list off all of the changes that have been made as of July 24, 2017: -For all coin collecting runs, time now starts upon the collection of the first coin, no longer on the start of your first run in which you collect your first coin. All previous runs have been retimed to conform to this new rule. -A new category has been added for 100 coins w/o red coins. -The 10 coin run has a new rule in which you cannot collect red coins, as only two red coins would give you 10 coins and at that point it's no longer much of a speedrun. However, if there's high demand, a separate category can be created for 10 coins w/ red coins.

Hello everyone. I was thinking about adding back the category of 100 coins no red coins. For those of you that don't know, red coins are only accessible after purchasing the piggy bank character. I don't believe that in order to successfully run a category you should have to pay for an aspect of a previously free game, so it's a good category idea. Some have addressed the issue of the difficulty of an 100 coins no reds run, but I don't think that should be an issue. I'll run the category and hopefully others will follow suit. Also, and more importantly, I wanted to hear the community's thoughts on a rule change for the coin runs. The runs currently start upon your first action in the run where you collect your first coin, however this timing is very illogical considering the time in between you starting the run and collecting your first coin is completely irrelevant to your ability to collect coins. I was thinking to change the rule to time starting upon collecting your first coin, meaning the exact time start is the first frame that the new coin count appears in the upper right corner of your screen. Apologies for the very long thread. Give me your thoughts! ¤Also it should be noted I'm making this a sticky for the time being to bring attention to the post. If these changes are made an official forum post will be made in regards to the exact rule changes.

So a runner named Hayden has a run in mushroom, flower, and banana cup. In all three of these runs, Hayden appears to be playing in time trial mode and not VS nor GP mode. To do something like this, evidently he just doesn't understand the rules. However, I'm wondering how the hell this could possibly make it through moderation not one, not two, but three times. This shows that the videos aren't even being remotely looked at which is frustrating. Something obviously needs to be done about this.

I can definitely understand the downsides of a 2 player 32 track run in MKWii, being mostly that the time is essentially completely reliant on the second finisher. However, I do believe there are some pros to this type of run. There's more or less double the amount of RNG you'll need to deal with which I believe would have the power to make these runs fairly competitive and interesting. Also, when doing this with one of my friends just for fun we found that there definitely was some different strategy tossed in there that wouldn't be found in a simple 32 track run. For example, if a player has a shroom you have to find a good way to let this player end up in first without losing too much time (if that made any sense). Let me know what you think.
