As long as there is only one button for each input I don't think it would be a problem to find a comfortable configuration as emulator can do so already.

sorry about the delay for Verification. Not terribly dead, i havent been on the site in a decent while. New runs are few and far in between. I appreciate your interest and I will do my best to ensure runs are verified in a timely manner since the game is picking up traction again. Good Luck with the runs!

I run on EMU (when i choose to run this game) and my controller of choice is the DualShock 3 (PS3) controller, however for console i would say the best controller to use would be the GBA SP due to the buttons. I find the SP buttons are easier for mashing and precise inputs which in my opinion the GC controller does not provide for this game.

It simply means that timing starts at control of samus. There is an offset listed in the rrules tab. And no guide exists for any% because any% is a brutal category especially starting off. There is a 100% route guide and tutorial that is listed under guides. Hundo isnt that much longer than any% less than a 5 minute difference between the two

What is it you are asking specifically?

Missouri, USAFlipSide2087 years ago

On emulator you would be stuck with IGT only due to EMU being faster than console, but VBA is valid, along with Bizhawk (which is my personal recommendation, though it is more resource intensive and more accurate but same restriction applies.) I'm sure someone who runs this a bit more frequently then myself can explain better, but to my knowledge that's correct

Oh, i wasn't aware that was what was necessary or the case. If that's the case then I could do that. I saw all the banter on twiiter and unknowingly thought it was just something to be added. Thanks for the information

So after noticing the incompleteness of the WR history for 100% I decided to do a bit of research into it and found the times from Carlmii's time up to Emptyeyes current time. So whoever has the authority to complete that graph, i would like to ask you do so. I will list the times and dates all of which are Emptyeye, I really can't provide anything for any%. but i do like completion. I would do it myself but alas i am unable. 12 Feb 14 1:04:54 17 Feb 14 1:04:32 24 Feb 14 1:04:16 03 Mar 14 1:04:10 11 Mar 14 1:03:44 18 Mar 14 1:03:30 09 Apr 14 1:03:18 17 Apr 14 1:03:12 21 Jul 14 1:03:18 25 Jul 14 1:02:55 02 Aug 14 1:02:49 02 Oct 14 1:02:36 03 Nov 14 1:01:48 There are all the times i found. I more so want a complete graph to the best knowledge of the information available.

There is a few alternatives you can try I think the videos will speak for themselves

, this is the one i use except i dont pause buffer it,

These are the two most viable. I ran into the same issue and didn't think about an alternative until JRP mentioned a pause buffered strat during a race, but yeah here are two alternate strats that accomplish the same thing the second video is the easiest way to get AWS in my opinion

thread: Speedrunning

I'm looking out for Idaho speedrunners, i always thought it an intriguing prospect to find those in the same general area. I ask for a variety of different reasons, such as panels at local Conventions and the such. as well as perhaps i guess establish a local community (assuming of course that there are people around here, and that something like this hasn't already been established.) All in All i see a lot of East coast and Mid West centered groups and what not so i thought it to be worthwhile to try to find people close

Final thought on it. probably restated, but SDA timing should remain for Metroid 2 as it is whats been used regardless of if it is because one person did it. and not to be the arrogant one but i will continue to use SDA timing as long as i run Metroid II.

Missouri, USAFlipSide2088 years ago

The Metroid 2 community has been using SDA since i started running Metroid 2 back in February. I know Emptyeye and Kenta, and being as they were the big names and used SDA timing I assumed it was what was standard. (Sheepish i know but anywho). Its what everyone in the past year who ran Metroid 2 used. Some runs will have to be changed. Emptyeye's 100% is one that comes to mind (Actually 1:01:41 by SDA timing.) with maybe 3 runs being questionable. 100% for the most part is accurate though. As far as Any% goes i do not know, though its safe to say 3/4 runs there need to be changed

The timer offset that is used is 5.65 seconds. It's slightly inaccurate but not enough to really make any sort of difference. It's within .10 seconds (which should be added so any new runner would be able know that.)

That is good to know, but yes the M2 community actually agreed on SDA timing some months ago. That is what i know regarding the subject.
