I was playing through the JellyCar 1 levels that got added into the game and got this and I figured I'd submit it to the boards but then saw that the levels are not in here.
TBH I'm mostly just curious if there's any plans to add em since I'm not really an active runner as I tend to spend most of my free time doing other stuff instead of speedrunning videogames anymore.
Ok, category added, feel free to check the rules and let me know if something could be changed.
Yes, for IL runs IGT is good, and for circuits in particular, I think the best course of action is to only allow single lap runs, because this game has an annoying tendency of not showing lap times unless it's that autocross gamemode specifically, normally for circuits in racing games boards tend to go off of best lap times, but since this game doesn't display lap times then setting it up for a single lap runs would be our best bet.
Well the way I set the ILs was for time trials, which is a fancy way of saying single race with no AI oponents and no abilities (Zone, Roar, Agro).
The reason why I bring this up is because there HAS been an IL submission a long time ago that I had to reject because it was with oponents, which didn't reflect the ruling I had setup for time trials, which is the following: "You can use any vehicle, special abilities (Zone, Agro, Roar) are not allowed, customized cars are allowed. Circuit races have to be 1 lap long because the game doesn't show the lap time after each lap. No AI opponents allowed. 'No traffic' recommended but not required"
All of those conditions can be setup in the arcade menu.
So my idea basically was
Time Trial: Set a race in arcade mode with no AI and don't use abilities Single Race: AI and abilities would be allowed as they add mechanics that affect the race. (Drafting boost and abilities).
So yeah, that's my reasoning.
Seeing how races offer an extra mechanic to the game in terms of speed (draft boosting) I was thinking that maybe adding a single race category for the ILs would be a good idea, I just haven't fully figured out the rules for this, and since we have more mods now I guess this would be open for discussion.
well see, that could cause trouble... but this game has 0 traffic, so unless there's complaints it's kinda pointless to separate it. Hell I was supposed to start filling the leaderboards but then I reformatted my PC and my save dissapeared into the void :S
Most likely, though I'd say the best way of proceeding would be to wait until they make it out of the beta and into the public release. Though that's just me.
Well, it's obvious that clearing 1 city is faster than clearing the whole game, but I think there might be a problem with this, once you clear all the racers on San Diego and unlock Atlanta, San Diego's not over, if I remember correctly once you clear the racers in Detroit, near the end of the game the same racers spawn again on all 3 cities, so for SanDiego% for example, you'd still need to go through Atlanta and Detroit anyway.
However, a workaround for this is, we could add categories for unlocking Atlanta and Detroit. Though imo it's kinda pointless seeing the lack of interest in running the game, I'd be putting up times but I forgot to back up my save before formatting my PC, so now I have to go through everything again to unlock the tracks, and that took me a long time, which is why I kinda haven't done it.
Tokyo% could be doable seeing how Tokyo it's kind of its own thing, but again, no interest yet.
This might help you out, if you change the extention to .mp4 it'll give you .mp4 files
"For the Level Leaderboard, just do Single Race and the 4 laps. For Nacho's run, I didn't realize it was out of 3 laps, and that run is no longer allowed."
Well that's ok, but you should put that on the rules, as I assumed playing the races straight out of career mode was enough, this isn't stated anywhere on the IL rules or... anywhere really.
Ok... just finished adding the ILs. Lemme know what you think.
I'm also working on a 100% save file so people don't need to grind the game to unlock the tracks / cars. At least for emulators.
As I was adding the ILs, I came to the conclusion that having leaderboards for each car category is a bit too much, so I'll just make it into a variable so ppl who submit add in those details.
Because think about it, the game has 6 car categories (7 if we count cop vehicles as another category)
crunching down the numbers:
219 x 6 = 1314 219 x 7 = 1533
So anyone who'd want to be in the full thing would have to record and upload at least 1314 videos Wow I crunched the numbers wrong... there are 7 categories... so it'd be 1533 minimum... yeah I'll just make it a variable
Well the thing about autocross vs track races is that autocross is literally a time trial that generates a target for you, if you beat the target the race is over, where as the track races are just regular circuit races on the autocross maps, without the target time. So it doesn't drop you out of the race. Besides, they're literally the same tracks with different rules :v
So it's set then... when I get the chance I'll start adding the ILs
Well this took a while, but I think I completed the Tokyo list, so as soon as I get the chance I'll start working on the ILs. I also left a note on the San Diego sheet, you should give it a read and tell me what you think about that.
Also you should check the categories I setup for the ILs and tell me what you think, if you think I should edit the rulings let me know.
Just wondering, I've always felt that racing games are more suited for IL leaderboards rather than any%, I don't have anything wrong any%. Not to mention that the tracks are very distinct with different shortcuts and everything.
Ehh, I'll just be direct, are you interested in adding the ILs for this game?
Oh yeah, emulators are allowed right?
Yeah, sure I can be a mod for this game. Another thing, I thing there should be a leaderboard for each car class, tuner, muscle, that kind of thing, due to how different each class feels.
D,C,B,A categories aren't necesary. But if you don't want to we can just leave the IL's as they are
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tcoAO7bCZ6Kd_05DrHs8u-Q7fgsXxM3wAr3Ls-A7PMk/edit?usp=sharing I found a list online and copied it into a google drive excel file. Tokyo is incomplete.
