How do you set up for runs? I'm new to this and am looking to start but don't know what a good set up is with video software and auto timer on play buttons.

Hi! I'm relatively new to speedrunning having watched it on youtube recently, and want to try it out starting with my high school favourite. Think I could have a good shot at hitting the leaderboards but was wondering how to set up the timer so it auto-starts when you begin the game? Also, what is some good video software to record the runs? Thanks!
