Agreed, and I think I have a fix in mind. I need to follow up with finalbossblues on if he's still planning to push an update that fixes some stuff (such as the final split issue) and then I'll work on a fix for what you described @PahiChannel.
Also, sorry for the delay, I was on a business trip for the last week and didn't have access to SRC!
You need to save your split times when you complete a run and reset it manually. As for the final split issue, yeah, that's an issue on Jason's end, he's pushing a game update to fix it.
Greetings, Jubilee speedrun community! I wanted to make a quick thread on how to use the game's autosplitter.
It's actually very easy.
In LiveSplit:
- Right click -> Edit Splits
- Game Name: Jubilee
- An option will appear that says "Auto Splitting on shrines and auto-starting timer." click the "Activate" button.
- Create your split segments as normal. Just make sure you have one segment for each shrine you'll hit, and for the Atlantis/Heck exit!
That's it! Upon starting a run, the timer will automatically start upon Jubilee-chan waking up. Each shrine will trigger an auto-split, as well as the exits for Skylantis and Heck (the final split time).
Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!
Honestly it makes me feel better knowing that if a mod saw a run live, they'll jump on it and approve it quickly. Why? It doesn't waste another mods time watching the run again. That mod can then spend their time watching another run instead. It's efficiency, plain and simple.
There is no "fiasco". This thread is dumb.
Honestly, it all boils down to who is badass enough to actually pull it off first.
Nope, I merged it into the LiveSplit list so it's now "built in" to Livesplit as long as the game title is set correctly.
RE7 didn't use Standard as the base difficulty for the same exact kind of reasons that @Volgher just pointed out.
unity made a good video on setting it all up, @TheMrEnigma72
You can make your own segments against the autosplits, or use a split file unity made (pinned in the timer-and-autosplits channel in the RE8 Speedrun Discord)
Splits technically aren't required for PC either - they just need to use livesplit to use the LRT. Since you're a console runner, if you use splits or not is up to your personal preference, but they're not required.
Each split will only fire once for the lifetime of the run, momoyin1984. So if you do something that would trigger a split and restart (just not to the main menu) it will not split again.
Do note, that the timer automatically resets at the main menu itself though. That's a feature I figure most runners will want, when it comes to resets. In addition, I doubt any leaderboard rules will allow main menu loads ;)
Just to note, I'm personally neutral on this. Probably leaning more towards leaving it be, honestly.
Could I adjust the timer to roll during settings but not on pause? Probably. Do I want to? No. Do I have some bias because I'm used to RE7? Yup.
I have no horse in this race personally though.
Thanks for taking the time to share these with the community. Unfortunately, I've spent every day since release tied up to make the timer and splits, so I'm not incredibly familiar with the routing yet.
This sort of thing helps a ton while I work on the boss splits still (which has been delayed a slight touch due to reasons out of my control)
The lrt-support channel in the RE8 speedrun discord also has a pinned message with the splits file opened at the beginning.
If you want to make your own segments though you could skip that part and follow the rest of the video.
Best case scenario make it category extension. If you want to practice the "actual gameplay" then practice the actual gameplay.
You should be practicing specific sections you lose time at anyway, nothing stopping you from doing that on your own time if you've really optimized the intro on your own.
If enough people submit to the extension board then maybe it's worth a table talk discussion on migrating it to the main boards.
As it sits, there's plenty to mess up in that intro. I really don't want to hear about people being sick of putting Rose to bed when I've done it 300+ times finding flags for the load remover tbqh.
That's exactly what I've done @Waifu. Currently in alpha testing with @captain_ezekiel
Yeah, an autosplitter should still work perfectly fine. And with load remover that wouldn't be an issue @xerian
Ideally, the load remover will just recreate the timer that's in RE2R in terms of behavior. Basically reversing the current behavior.
I think this confirms it just uses 7's method for timing then, @hntd187 7 didn't have an actual IGT in memory, it just did some calculations to calculate IGT whenever you paused, died, or finished the game.
I theorized beforehand that they would build VIL off the RE7 "branch". Unfortunately that seems to be the case.
