mattmatt is legit, he has been around for a while and runs a lot of different stuff. It's no surprise he'd take interest in the category after a large skip was found, he changes games a lot.

gordogodx_trihard is probably just shadow_dog or ryedawg let's be real here.

Btw you can fake task manager by just recording a video of it while SA is running and then editing it into your cheated PB. Yep sure proves shit. :)
and even posts in this very thread with cool insights like "These GDQ rejects think they run they show." revealing that they are less interested in ESA as an event unto itself and more that it's being seen like somewhere to be free from GDQ's ""censorship"". Tonal confusion like this practically invites that kind of person.
I'm not in the "muh free speech" camp at all, ESA chat should be moderated to get rid of people who just want to be disruptive, but that doesn't mean you should treat it like Club Penguin where you ban things regardless of context and don't aim for consistency and don't assume good faith. There is a reason why I gave a specific example; I think chat moderators should reevaluate it and try to see it from the perspective of the people following the run.

The flag incident was awful, I agree. ESA is not a venue for advocating for Apartheid or any other hateful policy. But I don't think "Sex Truck" in chat attracts racists. On the contrary, by banning harmless messages you're just giving them ammunition; they can point towards such incidents and say "look, the system is deeply flawed, please listen to our whitewashed fit-for-the-masses alt-light garbage".

As a viewer, my only big complaint is the chat mods.

During the GTA LCS run, one of the missions involved a truck with the company logo "Liberty Sex" on the side. The runner Nozlar referred to this as the "sex truck", mentioning it multiple times. Anyone who typed "sex truck" in the chat, however, got a 10 minute timeout. That is to mean that any message even just referring to the truck as "sex truck", with no offensive content whatsoever, was met with a 10 minute timeout.

I think that's just dumb. Chat mods shouldn't enforce rules any more strictly than the venue (or the game) itself does. There is nothing offensive about "sex truck". Yet, these GDQ rejects think they run the show.

Nobody was wearing suits and ties, very unprofessional. This is a professional speedrunning event and we can't have people show themselves in T-Shirts. I've asked one of the attendees for their business card so I could see what kind of slob would even do this, but they didn't have any! Imagine my shock. Thankfully, I was able to contact the twitch chat mods, who let me know that any and all unprofessional behaviour such as having fun or playing video games will be removed.

In all seriousness though, speaking purely as a viewer it was good. Stream 2 was excellent, but it would've been nice if the chat there wasn't in slow mode or follower-only mode, since it didn't have many people in it anyway. I agree with Mhmd_FVC when it comes to the meme donations part, the "wife's son" shit was way overdone and actually made me mute the stream.

For having donations which are meant to be read out on the second stream, a field to tell donation readers which stream the donation should be read out on might be worth considering, since some of them accidentally read out loud "hashtag second stream" or donations meant for the other stream. Having all the donation stuff done through speedrun.com and paypal is nice. Good thing Pac was able to fix his broken website during the event, though hosts reading through old donations was a bit awkward.

Chat mods had a broom up their ass but that's just what you get when you let GDQ people do the modding. At least they didn't ban any emotes this time, just unicode characters and the combination of the letters "cx". Seriously, where do you even find these clowns?

Speaking of the runs, I think it's good that lesser-known runs were featured, and that in some cases (Wind Waker) riskier runs were tried. I've enjoyed a great number of runs from games I've never even heard about. Meme runs like My Summer Car were also amazing. Overall, good variety balanced with interesting speedrunning.

Stop hating on FLYING. He is in a deep depression right now and you guys aren't helping him. Other than the #gta crew you guys are all he has. He can't take you guys constantly ragging on him. Yesterday I was on the phone with him and he was crying so hard, telling me how sick he was of this life. He went into a fit of rage and I heard things being thrown against a wall. He then hung up on me.
