Alright, well I might set something up tomorrow. Yeah, I think it could help expand the community, especially if runners from other NSMB games join. I'm pretty sure NSMBW has the largest (and most active) community, but I'm not sure how to get some of them over here.

I was wondering if there was any interest for a Discord Server for this community. I know a few other games have servers for talking strats and races etc.

The one problem I think would matter is how active the community is, which I'm sure someone on here can tell me.

Mods would be mods on there. There's also bots I can set up to notify when someone is streaming NSMBU on Twitch.

Please let me know what you guys think.

Near Minneapolis, why?

The sad part is that I will probably be playing Pokemon Go.

I've noticed on other Mario games that they start the timer on the first input with Mario. (NSMBW, SMW,) For this game and Mario wii, you first gain control of Mario on the W1 map, which is where the timer starts on NSMBW.

Starting the timer here allows you to have faster restarts (as long as you never save) because then you load up a file and it takes you to the point where you gain control of Mario.

You then can sit at the w1 start for as long as you want until you're ready to press 'right' and start timer.

I do realize this would make many runs invalid if you adopted this but I'm just throwing it out there.

I don't think this has been brought up anywhere else, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I was thinking we should all make an agreement on where runs actually start from now on. I always started the timer when I first move Mario on W1 map. This allows for faster restarts because you don't have to watch the cutscene everytime.

Basically, you just start a new file, watch the cutscene, and never save and that file will always start right after the cutscene.

I know the SMW community starts when you first gain control of Mario so that what I do. I've noticed people here do this more now but what do you guys think?

Yeah, I do agree with that maybe video proof should be required. I too can't record and runs but I am planning on getting the Roxio Game Capture HD soon so I will be able to have video proof. And I am planning on joining the Nintendo Creators Program so it'll be legal :) But at the same time, I liked this community right after I found it because it was the only game I speedran that didn't require a video link.

Ok, but there's still a problem. Obviously, when I record a video of a run, there's copyrighted content in it. So it would get taken down or something. I'm new to Youtube and don't want to do anything wrong. I've been considering the Nintendo Creators Program and although it seems to get a lot of hate in the internet, would it make it legal to post videos with Nintendo content? (and maybe earn some $ in the process?)

Ok thanks! I do have a thing that just takes a composite input and then records it to my computer (its essentially and capture card) but the audio is broken so it would only take the video and the picture would be distorted due to the signal from the wii having to be split. Hopefully this is ok and if so, I'll try to record my future runs.

I haven't gotten a sub 30 run yet but I probably will soon, but I don't have any means to upload a video. I have a Youtube and a Twitch but I don't stream and I don't upload. Do we NEED to post a video link if we sub-30? If not, can anyone help me get the things I need to create videos/streams? I also am not able to post times on the NSMBU Leaderboard and Splatoon due to this.

Thanks!
