A few years ago i picked up a ps2 game called Airblade, basically a mix between tony hawk and jet set radio, fell in love with the weird controls and silly cutscenes so i started running it and promptly got the records for it since the lack of players, but man that game has so much potential and just needs that one break to get a few more people to jump in.

Here's a single level run of the final, most linear level in airblade.

Do you have any games that you wish were more popular? If so share a link and maybe we will get some players moving around.

I don't think images are the right way to go. They are so easy to manipulate that if you have even a rudimentary knowledge of photoshop you can whip out a good time in few minutes.

It would be nice if we could comment on individual runs, it would make it easier to ask questions and have discussions about the run, tips and tricks stuff like that. I know that youtube is one step away, but i would honestly rather talk here about the runs than there.

I hope that someday Airblade would gain a bit more popularity, so to help anybody trying to run the game for the first time i wanted to share some tips to get you started.

First one is a big one.

Don't use analog controls, seriously you will be much more precise and consistent if you use the D-pad to move around, it also helps with the next tip.

In some levels like the first one it's advisable to do "trick turns" where you hit down at the same time you do a trick, this will turn you around keeping most of your momentum intact, and in some cases you can boost out of it even faster than normally.

Skipping vertical spinning animations.

This glitch is easy to do, however doing it consistently is harder than it seems. Just before you grab a horizontal pole start smashing L1 and R1, or one or the other. The game gets confused when you grab at the same time your character has started to turn and just flings you out of the spin with full force saving a lot of time especially if you chain these together. There are dangers in doing this, in rare cases you jump into completely opposite direction you wanted, or you might be in a bad position where you fall because your board clips a wall when you try to grab the pole, sometimes it's just safer to grab the pole normally rather than trying to skip the animation.

Spinning while grinding.

Hitting L1 and R1 will make you speed up while grinding, but this too has it's drawbacks. For one you cannot jump in all of the positions while spinning, this might make you fall to your death forcing a reset in the later levels.

The second problem is that this can screw up your landing position because grinds can be a good way to setup your character for a hard jump like in the penthouse level.

One notable little skip in the Industry level is that you can jump to the first radio antenna straight out of the mine shaft, this saves only a second or two but at first it doesn't really seem to be possible to make the jump, with a full jump boost it's not that hard.

If anybody else has any tips feel free to share them here or ask any questions, i'm sure somebody will answer.
