I don't see categories that include choosing movement limitations like using or not Dash, if so IMO they would be category extensions
may be a good approach as a starting point, one downside (as a mod) would be having ton of runs, then deciding on creating new categories and then manually move runs to the corresponding category.
you can DM here on SRC
we are working on adding the Anniversary Collection as separated subcategories soon, there are some stuff to iron out (some things needs to be moved manually, and mods need to find some time for that) in the meantime, if you can record the intro loop for around 5 minutes, it will really help me to measure the behavior of that version, I have only tested AC on switch and PC
that is true, I think is because the game community has been always kind of small compared to other games, I'm guessing that is why some pal region players ended playing the us or jp version of the game. we could add a separated category, but I'm not sure how much people would participate
hi ! thanks for your input! the document is intended to guide runners to check and ensure the emulator used is running as expected, is not required for each submission. I will clarify that on the doc. And yes, as Tsjerno mentions this is something recent, that came into light as runs became more and more optimized. Probably we would not apply retroactively these rules on old runs, unless more interest and discussions occurs within the community
You can use any controller you want and remap the buttons to any layout you want, as long as you keep exactly the 8 snes controller buttons, meaning, no duplicates and no change of layout during runs. If your controller have more buttons you can't add duplicated inputs to those extra buttons. Also no duplicated directional inputs (like a controller with a dpad AND joystick with both the 4 directions mapped) The only exception would be a person with a real accessibility limiting condition.
I would say no, as essentially you can't do that on a real SNES, however with emulators allowed each player can have their own layout on keyboard or other PC compatible controller, but have to stick to it for a full run. If someone have accessibility problems we can discuss an exception I think. I would ask this question in the Contra discord too to have more input on what the community thinks.
