Category extension for Norfolk

Switzerland

Hello all, I would like to suggest adding an category extension for Norfolk. As it is now, Norfolk starts with a 2 minute intro that has to be played as fast as possible, after that an unskippable 90 minute period starts where the mission cannot be beat. The mission ends with the defeat of both besieger armies, which usually are already dead before the timer has run out if you are a semi-decent player. That is why I suggest a category where a speedrun counts as completed the moment the 2nd cutscene starts (when the scout reaches Norfolk).

I think having to play 90 minutes each time just to improve a 2-minute section is counterintuitive for a "speedrun".

Thank you.

Hello @Shirhix, We Need Some Time To Think About Your Proposition. I Spoke With @Barmanek About This And We Will Post Our Full Answer With Possible Outcomes In About 2 Days. The One We Discussed Was Norfolk (Any%) - You Need To Do Certain Things (Same Or Similar To Those In Your Post) And Norfolk (100%/Skipless%) - Mission Completion With "90 Minutes Of Boredom". After That We Will Give The Community Time To Think And Talk About Our Proportions. We Will Do A Standard Community Referendum In Which Everyone Can Vote. If Anybody Has Any Specific Rules, Ideas, Propositions In Mind, Please Post In This Thread Or On Our Discord Server, We Are Always Open For Discussion :3 Regards, Matthew

If that change comes to Norfolk how does it interact with the full game run? Do i have to play through the full mission or can i just do the beginning with the scout and then quit out of the level. I just want to know because im sitting on the full game run an that would be nice to know for the split system

Hello @ThePhoenix, We Would Like To Change Full-Game Run To Be Similar To Single Level So, Any% - Main Campaign (You Only Do Certain Things In Norfolk) And 100%/Skipless% - Main Campaign (You Need To Complete All Tasks In Norfolk). Note: Full-Game Run Is RTA, Not In-Game Time.

Hello, Together With @Barmanek We Come Up With These Proportions Based On The @Shirhix First Post. Before You Read Them Please Keep In Mind Those Are Only "Propostions/Ideas" And They Will Change After The Community Referendum. If You Have Any Specific Rules, Ideas, Propositions In Mind, Please Post In This Thread Or On Our Discord Server, We Are Always Open For Discussion!

First Proposition (Based On @Shirhix Post): For The Level Leaderboard:

  • Norfolk (Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete The Mission To Specified Moment (Second Cutscene). Note: This Option Requires You To Complete This Mission Before Running It Or Having The Whole Campaign Completed Before.
  • Norfolk (No-Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete The Whole Mission With All The Objectives.

For The Full Leaderboard:

  • Any% - Main Campaign (Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete All Mission With All The Objectives On All Maps Except For "Norfolk" Mission In Which You Need To Complete The Mission To Specified Moment (Second Cutscene). Note: This Option Requires You To Complete The Whole Campaign Completed Before.
  • Any% - Main Campaign (No-Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete All Mission With All The Objectives On All Maps.

Second Proposition: For The Level Leaderboard:

  • Norfolk (Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete All Mission Objectives (You Do Not Need To "Win" The Mission, You Just Need To Complete All The Objectives On This Level Without The 90 Minutes Timer Wait).

  • You Need To Complete All Mission With All The Objectives On All Maps Except For "Norfolk" Mission In Which You Need To Complete All Objectives (You Do Not Need To "Win" The Mission, You Just Need To Complete All The Objectives On This Level Without The 90 Minutes Timer Wait). Note: This Option Requires You To Complete The Whole Campaign Completed Before.
  • Any% - Main Campaign (No-Skip%)
  • You Need To Complete All Mission With All The Objectives On All Maps.

Third Proposition:

  • Everything Stays As It Now :3

Fourth Proposition And Beyond! Here I Will End My Post As I Said Before, We Are Always Open For Discussion And We Are Waiting For Your Feedback. If There Will Not Be Any More Propositions, The Voting Will Start On Sunday (Duration: Till Tuesday). Regards, Matthew

Does it mean that the full game run gets 2 categories with Norfolk skip and without?

So what exactly are all objectives for skip%? Bringing the scout safely to Norfolk is a critical objective as if he dies, the game is lost. Talking to Leonardo is noted in the quests tab, but it doesn't cause the timer to not start or the game to be lost if it's not done.

To defend Norfolk you have to immobilize both Kerberos and the Barbarians. This means you have to kill every military unit (swordsmen, spearmen, cannons). You need to destroy every military building (Barracks, Foundry). Also you need to destroy the HQs and all serfs so they cannot rebuild (yes they rebuild). https://imgur.com/a/UwsIWUD

That would be my suggestion.

Oh, so ending time on the last action needed to win the mission at 92 minutes, rather than on start of the autoscroller?

Hello, I Added/Updated Rules For Norfolk (Skip%) Some Time Ago, And They Are:

  • "Timing Ends When You Complete All The Map Objectives That Would Result By Level Completion."
  • "Complete Objective: Protect The Messenger."
  • "Kill All The Barbarians On The Map."
  • "Kill All The Kerberos's Goons On The Map." All Objectives As Mentioned Above "Talking To Leonardo" Or Any Side Quests Are Not Needed. I Will Add Additional Note With Suggestions Made By @Shirhix:
  • Note: You Must Destroy All Military Unites (Including All Serfs) And Destroy Every Military Building (Barracks, Foundry) With Main HQ's (The Enemy Can Not Recover) Both For Barbarians And Kerberos. I Hope My Explanation Helps, In Case Of A Doubt Ask In This Thread. Regards, Matthew

Greetings, I have written a small script for Norfolk Skip% and would like to know if it were allowed to use it. It basically tracks enemy entities for you so you can be sure you've killed everyone.

I have uploaded a showcase to youtube

I will provide the script on the discord (or PM if necessary). If it's allowed of course.

Hello, Personally, I Am Okay With Using It, But I Would Need To Check The Script. @Shirhix Could You Provide A File For It For Anyone Interested To Download (Discord Or Forum)? Also, It Would Be Best Case Scenario If The Runner Would Not See The On-Screen Information (I Think Just Triggering The Level Victory Is Enough). Regards, Matthew

Switzerland

Right. I have updated the script to not show the message and update every second instead of every 10 seconds. It may lag your game...

Link to drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ogjvsMMd660UGHrqF5jNvvu85il4D919?usp=sharing

To make the script work you have to drag both files into base\shr\Maps\Campaign\Main\11_Norfolk

and replace MapScript.lua, make a backup of it beforehand. It will initialize and call the script found in norfolk_hack.lua

Hello, Sorry For Not Answering For The Past Few Days. Together With @Barmanek We Checked The Script And Everything Is Fine :3. The Rules Will Be Changed For Norfolk (Skip%) And Will Allow The Usage Of The Script Created By @Shirhix For This Level. Shirhix If You Could Upload The Version Which You Provided In Your Previous Post To Resources. If Someone Has Any Objections Or Suggestion We Are Always Open For Discussion. Regards, Matthew
