The start of the X2 series, some crazy high damage in this game, along with the introduction of many tension, ik's and many things we would get used to calling normal for the guilty gear series.

Some small updates

  • Variables renamed to reflect both the PS2 and Arcade versions so there is no mistake on selecting.

  • Minor differences with some infinites and damage (slayer grab infinite) between the Arcade, which is why they are separated. The load time is slightly faster on the arcade as well in this release only.

  • No Instant Kill Challenge has not been added but can be if someone does a run first. Please see the rules over at https://www.speedrun.com/ggxxr Guilty Gear X2 follow up game #Reload for more details.

  • News made for the update.

Guilty Gear X2's next game was #Reload, a welcomed upgrade to original Midnight Carnival. While not completely fixing the balance of the original, It did add Robo Ky, and historically it was a big deal that this game had the ability to play online with the Xbox.

Going back to older versions has led to new discoveries for players of this game, especially with the release of the GGXX #Reload PC version. This realization also leads to updates for the leaderboard.

  • Chose to show emulator runs by default (more runs are now visible on the board that were previously hidden.)

  • Disabled IGT, Don't know why this was turned on but it was glitching some runs and records. This game and all other entries in the GGXX franchise use Real Time Attack (RTA.)

  • PC loading is completely different from Xbox/PS2/Arcade releases. Time to skip the loadings is essentially built in. However with the GOG, Steam, and other PC releases your able to skip that section entirely. This means the original releases have no way to compete with this.

  • Will add a separate sub category variable for the PC version.

  • Removed console unlocks or no unlocks. If your already playing ANY% then ANY character is ok.

  • Removed the time variable. From here on out, time should always be the default. After watching speedruns and doing diligent research. Time has no visible impact on AI behavior. And If your playing to get time overs in guilty gear, your doing it wrong. Please use the default time setting outside of anything that's no any%

  • Console unlocks were not defined, I will put a list below this to show what they are/were for each game. If I miss some please notate.

  • Archived Survival Mode, there are currently 0 submitted runs, if it is desired to have back we can unarchive it.

  • M.O.M mode was under misc for this leaderboard with 0 submissions as well. For right now it has been archived. If a run is submitted it will be added back, if its a full completion run.

  • Removed the "Other" under run types. Not a single run used this variable and its undefined. Basically no idea what other means, and it seems none of the runner did either.

  • Arcade No Instant Kill Challenge has been added as main category.

  • Moved the Any% to its correct spot under the difficulty. Again changing the time, round, and using secret characters fall under this percent.

  • Grandfathered the old 1 round Easy, and Normal, and Manic runs, under misc. You can still submit to the 1 round challenge there. I also beat the WR time for these before switch, so I misc'd my own runs as well.

  • Switch Difficulties to have the above mentioned Any%, and keeping Beginner, Normal, and Maniac, adding the percentage symbol to show that its the category.

  • The only Instant kill runs were Any%, rechecked all runs.

  • Fixed the link on some runs so the video would embed properly.

  • 1 round runs that use anything above the Beginner percent difficulty were put in the misc category mentioned above named NO IK 1 Round Challenge. @diabetesNINJA @Antea @norinori74 and @DBcade have runs under that misc section now.

  • @waniknife, who did the default round and time on maniac was moved to the appropriate category.

  • Arcade's Variable difficulty set to: Any%, explained in detail her, Beginner%, Normal%, and Maniac%

  • Arcade's No Instant Kill Challenge also has its Variable difficulty set to: Any%, explained in detail her, Beginner%, Normal%, and Maniac%.

  • Annotations for Rounds and Timer removed. Outside of Any% you MUST use 99 default timer, and the 3 rounds. The standard has been set long before this site existed, please keep the arcade speedrun rules standard for games that have an arcade release.

  • Run types variable removed.

  • News thread made, this change will be reflected on ALL Guilty Gear boards, even adding No Instant Kill Challenge to previous runs. Please enjoy the cleaner board, and more clear way to run the game.

Fight against commandos, yokozuna, teenage girls, muai thai users, George Foreman, old karate men, the T-800, and last but not least, Mr. Bear.

Also on the extreme difficulty list, mainly due to Mr. Bear having ultra instinct and being able to whoop your ass for free especially on harder settings. I think this bear surpassed Ryu...

Fixed and updated the leaderboard with the following:

  • Individual Leaderboards fixed.

  • Categories renamed and set with default displays,

  • Disabled the ability for mods to verify their own runs by default.

  • Added the discord https://discord.gg/6Ay9bmb Any loops, or strong strategies are more than welcome to be posted and shared over there.

  • Added Character Annotations, as well as attached them to the current runs.

  • Removed the Continues / 1CC sub variable.

  • Fixed back end variables.

  • Changed the theme, and added the most appropriate background.

The world of Star Gladiator is dripping with style and tech. Plasma Sword added a even more characters, and quality of life additions from the previous release. I think overall this was capcoms attempt at a galaxy like style of story line, and its underplayed for sure. I hope people come to play this game and experience the game, who knows maybe down the line we will get a sequel to what was started for this game.

Some minor quality of life updates

  • Added character annotations. Attached to the current runs on the board.

  • Doublechecked runs, some quality of life issues but all seems fine.

  • Removed the 1CC category as seems to have no impact on the game. If people want it back it can be added as an annotation.

  • Needs testing about bonus fight or if it just changes the end fight, for Arcade only. Doesn't need a category, doesn't give any kind of true ending or special scene.

From Gamefaqs "In order to fight against Kaede or Rai-On, you need to be able to: Finish three rounds with 'Plasma Strike', Finish two rounds with 'Perfect', Finish a round with 'Plasma Field'.You also need to make sure not to win a round by time out or use a continue"

Daraku Tenshi is, and has always been a fantastic game in my eyes, its got fantastic sprites with some well developed gameplay.

The cast is bit lacking in their tool kits, but maybe that would all get fixed, and some additional characters playable when the version we all have been waiting for will release at some point. heavy breathing

In the meantime, if your just discovering this game, or feeling like taking up a cool challenge for this well loved game. Try a speedrun!

I've updated the leaderboard with a few things,

  • Added the Character Annotations. So you can note who you use for the speedrun.

  • Added the ability, for now, to submit on the same board with another character. If we get more runners I would absolutely be inclined to add IL's but this is basically the same thing.

  • Attached the FGC and Beat em up discord. With the state of fighting game speedruns the way it is, we need to make sure we support the Speedrun community and talk about our run to get it into possible events.

  • Fixed the background, added a higher resolution image.

  • Switched the image for the game to the actual poster that was used for release, and so it fits visually when loading the page.

This title is no joke. This game is on an ultimate level of difficulty. I must admit to almost three weeks running this game to get nowhere. Merely doing the important duty of warning you fellow runner. Your execution and patience will both be tested with most warriors including myself wearing the shame of being able to clear this game.

I have blown the dust off this board and prepared it for the fast game players to see, However I must warn you before booting up this game again, it is not for the weak willed.

  • Banished the shameful incomplete runs.

  • High score gets you no favors, and we know its not appreciated or considered true in the warriors of fighting game community. Removed for all time.

  • Shogun, Samurai and Youkai have been enlisted for your choosing.

  • The legend of @Dumple was inscribed correctly.

  • Added a background and slightly changed the screen, happiness and any emotions will only hinder your gameplay. Embrace nothing, only your fight matters.

  • Opened the road to the fighters and group of people who like to punch with buttons, it is said this is a great place to spread word of your findings. https://discord.gg/6Ay9bmb

A great action belt game for the super famicom. Also based on the anime of the same name. Lots of weapon variety, and tons of combos.

The game does little handholding but after a few attempts you can probably clear this with less trouble, especially with their being so many answers to all the enemies you face.

This leaderboard was never set up to represent the game, so I have done several things.

  • Submitted @gameO time on his behalf from RTA in Japan.

  • Removed any highscore or incomplete categories.

  • Removed 1CC variables.

  • Removed @BOSSCAT submission to avoid any issue.

  • Added Arcade Clear.

  • Set the difficulty default to normal%

  • Changed the theme, and picture associated with the game to the official box art.

A gem of a game, this one really shows off practicing combos, timing, and item and gauge management. This is one of those games for the Naomi hardware that in my opinion makes it one of the best, it's a bit challenging, and can take some real practice but in full swing this game really moves.

I decided to give this board some real quality of life upgrades, mainly because it deserves it.

  • Theme updated (But I need a higher res version of the background I chose.)

  • Poster used for the game image.

  • Main category changed to Arcade.

  • Difficulty properly slotted. Default category is Very Easy% as of now, due to @BOSSCAT having the only run.

  • Character Annotations Added.

  • Current run updated with the variable.

  • Other unnecessary variables removed. We can always add 1CC back as an annotation.

This comes as a top recommendation, with the ability to emulate Slashout now there is no reason not to try this one at the least.

An upgraded version and follow up to Violence Fight, this time you get to even throw hands with a bear!

Savage Reign, Is a game where not only does the AI not play nice, but you are subject to not being able to use a lot of your arsenal early on. I applaud anyone who can even clear this game.

This game is actually on my hardest fighting games list, close to the top because of its constraints and it being a perfect example of AI reading your inputs.

  • Added the character Variable.

  • Set the default category to Arcade Level 4.

  • Attached the community discord.

  • Removed the 100k and other highscore categories for this game.

With so much misinformation floating around this game, BAT 2 Plus might be a contender for most obscure and certainly the least documented. I want to use this section of the board as a discussion place for Battle Arena Toshinden 2 Plus (BAT 2 Plus) in addition to the fgc speedrun discord https://discord.gg/6Ay9bmb The rules, character variables, and theme likeness have been copied over from the original game. Arcade Mode is relatively the same as the previous entry but AI have been improved. Full Game has a different number of versus count for some reason.

The main thing to remember about this version is that character damage has been greatly reduced, along with some properties changed all together.

Some moves now seem to be geared toward ringing out, and some have been altered in a way where they can't be used in a combo anymore. Some combos and axis fixes (get de-aligned is sadly still a huge issue) have been made but all these changes are so great it deserves its own post.

I added @BOSSCAT as a mod because they did a run first and requested of this me. At the time I didn't know if it was just a small upgrade or simply a minor change. So I sunk a large amount of time into Toshinden research, particularly this entry.

My hope is that a few more runners, when browsing Battle Arena Toshinden entries give this game a try. I might actually be leaning toward thinking this is the best entry out of all the games, though some of my favorite characters really feel like they got nerfed this time around. Overlooked but not forgotten, I decided to not only really give Toshinden 3 a fair shake since being tasked with the leaderboard way back. I decided to really dig deep into every character, and try and understand this game.

Through doing this, I realized a bit of better way to set the leaderboard, more in line with standard fighting game leaderboards and adding many missing things. I hope fans of the series give this one a chance, with probably the biggest cast of characters in the game, there are many interesting things to find, and possibly still times to improve.

  • Comprehensive rules have been added. With standard formatting

  • Category rules were added as well.

  • Properly made it so that the difficulty of Arcade is now a sub category.

  • Condensed the Arcade category, since difficulty was added.

  • Removed the round variable. There is literally zero reason to change it from the default. Since the default is already set to one. Not sure why this was ever added to begin with, but its gone now, there were only 3 submissions on this one, and didn't compare well to the 1 round.

  • Character value set to not obsolete so you can have multiple runs on a difficulty as long as its a different character.

  • Characters reordered by place in the actual game select menu.

  • Character variable updated and added Abel, Naru, Schultz, Tau, Atahua, Leon, Zola, Toujin, Adam, Balga, Miss Til, Ten Count, Judgement, Rachael, Cuiling

  • Even though a lot of characters play similar there are minor differences in special, and strings a majority of the time. Some characters like Adam are completely different to their counterpart.

  • Updated everyones runs, double verified, and attached the character variable to them.
