I was doing some runs earlier as blaze on Arcade/Normal, and somehow I glitched/dupe a star on Cargo Ship. No idea how it actually happened, and it did not help me in the run at all, didn't use the extra star and the extra points didn't get me a needed life or anything (should mention it since the run ended up being PB/WR). Will upload full VOD for submission tomorrow. Any idea what happened here? Can it be replicated? I tried a few times to no success. Could help a lot in Mania runs if this is a thing that can be consistently done.

P.S. I tried looking up anything about this happening before, and I couldn't find a single one. If this is already a known bug/glitch then I apologize and will remove this post

WOW. If picking up that money allowed you to pick up the star out of range but it didn't register (what it looks like) then this is HUGE. What a find !

Stars already shave a lot of time off my Zan run, if this is repeatable it could have massive impact! Time to get to testing lol

My theories so far:

• You forward special the barrel as it is about to explode - maybe overloading the barrel's HP caused the duplication (my main theory)

• You have a combo which is confirming as you pick up the star (my second main theory)

• You forward special over the star, but I doubt that means anything

• The way you pick up the cash then immediately turn left to pick up the star might have something to do with it?

That's what I'd be trying to replicate

Pretty amazing sounding theories. I tried to start the video from entering the 2nd area of the deck to give enough gameplay to see sequencing/timing/etc. The run is pending right now so once it is verified, the full vod will be up if more footage is needed.

The multiple input idea sounds interesting. If only I had the controller on screen showing inputs like some runners do...damn.

Only thing I can spot in both is using a special on the barrel as it’s exploding. Both videos have this in common. What platform are you guys playing on?

I am one of the only players who plays on Switch so I don't think that it has anything to do with the platform you're playing on.

So it looks as though it is either going to be multiple inputs (wish we could see what buttons each player was holding) or my original theory that using a special on the barrel right as it explodes has overloaded its HP and caused two stars to spawn, rather than some kind of pick-up glitch.

If it was to do with the item itself rather than the actual barrel I just feel as though we would have seen this happen in multiple places by now.

Can both of you confirm - what difficulty, and was it Arcade both times or Story / Stage Select?

For me, it was Arcade on hard difficulty.

Not sure on how to check/make the video 60fps? My game runs at 60 and my OBS says its recording at 60fps all the time, but if I need to do something else then I will, just need to know what/how to do it.

Running it at 0.25 speed, you can see that there are in fact two stars that pop out of the barrel when it explodes. Also, both have a Francis and Galsia in air above the barrel.

Thanks BadMoon, I think you're right on the money there. I had thought it was overloading the barrel but I think your theory about the barrel in that state being interpreted as a new barrel makes a LOT more sense mate.
