Can anybody explain why psxfin is the recommended emu for this game, I always use epsxe. Is psxfin faster with load times?

Epsxe is just bad in general, Psxfin runs the game the smoothest, doesn't have sketchy plugins and is not updated at all.

It's also recommended because most runners on the board use it including the WR so at an attempt to put everyone on a level playing field we recommend Psxfin.

Psxjin was chose in the past because it was the main emulator used on http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources.html The goal was to have the nearest experience compared to console.

Today Bizhawk is the main emulator on http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources.html but psxjin still accepted ;)

Plus, @Lillyella said it, there's is way less options to cheat and stuff. You can also show input more easily

About Bio2 rules in not moderator but on Bio1, we chose to accept only pxjin2.0.2 or bizhawk. At my POV psxjin is more like ps1 game played on a ps2 fast disk and bizhawk more like ps1.

Btw if everyone chose emulator they like, there's no way to compare runs in a legit way :) It's also for competition

I thought it seemed more like ps2 with fds, me epsxe 4th attempt was 01:18:xx on psxfin this went down to 01:09:xx the load time was significantly faster

PS emu on RE2 is closer to PSP if anything for most emulators.

For PS emu runs, ePSXe should, in my opinion, generally be banned. Bizhawk/Mednafen should kind of be the standard in PS emulation now, as they are the only emulators constantly upkept with console accuracy in mind. Rest are either massively outdated, inferior to the two former, or don't have that goal in mind.

I'm not even sure why so many people gravitate towards using ePSXe either, it's one of the crappiest emulators even with speedrunning aside.
