Not interested in adding more categories at the moment, nobody is stopping you from running with any rules/timing you like - it's just that we only want to maintain/moderate categories which are likely to be run and are competitive.
I don't think you would get more than a few runs submitted ever for what you are proposing. And that would likely be by the same people with no variety in competition
Actually just had a brief look - it looks like we can only change timing across all of skate 3 or not at all. I don't think we have the granularity to do the change just for the deathrace IL times.
Don't want to make this change across the main categories to support the DR ILs when they are effectively just a side category
@HogfrogzGreasy unfortunately time from ingame stats is not valid since it does not include loads (we include those in our time since we use real time)
Nobody is stopping you from speed running with whatever rules you want, there's not much point making a category that is not particularly coherent with the game and that will have few to 0 competitors, especially since it will perhaps divide the people competing in the two arguably more important categories.
Obviously we don't condone piracy, but as long as the speedrun uses the original unmodified software, on unmodified official hardware, following the rules then it will likely be accepted.
Just to make this clear, this is still an active discussion in the skate community discord. It's likely we will allow emulators at least to some degree on the leaderboards, be that in a separate leaderboards or be that with restrictions that make the emulator directly comparable to the console versions.
You mean a category that's an hour or two long where the only optimisation is menuing? You actually think that would be fun/run?
It's not that dead. I'm still running when I get a chance, there's been a couple of new runs in the past few months. Obviously it's not a bustling community, but it's not completely devoid of activity.
