If a significant advantage is found then this change can easily be reverted. Both PS4 & PS4 Pro are limited to the same storage options. If there was going to be any advantage then I'd have expected it to be with the PS5. Sony allows users to install compatible storage options of their choice which does include SSD's for PS4 consoles so no system will be exactly the same.
I've merged PS4/PS5 on the boards and they're now just labels instead being separated, unless there's a significant advantage on newer hardware, it's better to have all the runs grouped together as it looks much cleaner and everyone is competing with each other. This game wasn't given any enhancements on either the PS4 Pro or the PS5 and I looked at load times across different consoles and the difference was negligible.
I think the magnum was allowed since ammo is an issue once you get to Labs, especially on standard. The magnum helps with the hunters and waste nemmy is really tanky with the handgun. The clocktower fight is quite time consuming and uses up a lot of ammo, I'd imagine the waste nemmy fight with a handgun would take longer than the detour to get the magnum also. Samurai Edge wasn't allowed because it's an NG+ item
This topic is quite relevant to some of my thoughts on this current rule, I've decided to start running this game recently, learned the route and using the improved door skip mod. I wasn't exactly sure what the rule meant at first, whether it meant rebinding to stick ONLY for analogue stair skating or it actually meant binding was completely restricted to just the analogue for stair skating and no other inputs could be changed at all. I bound the Square button to R1 but was thinking about moving it to the trigger, it just felt much smoother having the thumb free when transitioning between analogue stair skating and tank controls, unlocking certain doors and interacting with certain objects. The in-game options almost accomodate this with layout E but not quite. Another thing to note is that on console these days, inputs can be remapped via the playstation menus and on the xbox accessories app, with no visible change to the in-game prompts and the Dualsense Edge can be remapped on the controller level and still transmit the outputs as default on pc, meaning remapping can actually be undetectable anyway, depending on what it's being used for. Any other remapping aside from stair skating seems like preference rather than a performance enhancer. I think there should definitely be a strong consideration to change the rule or some sort of vote on it.
I had a look at the rules regarding when timing is meant to start and the wording that had been put in place before I was a moderator, it seemed a little unclear to be honest. "When you press X after selecting your car for the first event" I noticed most had been timing from the car selection screen but a new submission had timed their run from the X (Start Event) prompt after the track has loaded in and the camera is looking at the track from above. Since there's multiple X presses required after selecting your car, I can understand the confusion. So I've decided that run timing should start when GO! appears after the 3,2,1 countdown in the first event, I feel there's more clarity with this rule. All runs that exist on the board before this change will be retimed.
Ah nice it's finally been fixed, the boards didn't know which was default between normal & ultra since neither existed on tracks that didn't have a glitched route so they were just combined on the front end. I've ran a couple of the Ultra routes but not really a fan of it tbh, seems to add rng and coin toss skips depending on the track. I'd be surprised if they didn't get patched anyway so it doesn't really feel worth it to run them
I even tested it myself, I use both, depending on the game but all my runs on this game have been done using controller inputs, although I went on Day Drifting at one point just to see and managed to beat my own controller pb using M&K after a couple of hours and that's not even close to enough time to be fully used to it yet
Normally racing games favour controller but I think this game is actually superior on mouse & keyboard, there's something about binary steering inputs that seem to be better for getting the most optimal drifts. A fully optimised M&K run is unbeatable on a controller on this game. The best times on this game have been done on either M&K or someone using a controller but also a 3rd party program to output as M&K. Sure a controller is easier to use but the ceiling isn't as high.
Glad to hear there will be a separation, was a bit demotivating to see one of my runs beaten by a skip on the boards. Also, at the bottom it says only subcategories that apply to all levels will be showcased on the front end but it's the Sidewider skip times that are being shown and not the non-glitched runs, I think that is what CheeQu was referring to.
I've added In-Game Time as an additional timing method, which is to be used for the levels leaderboard. Full Game categories will remain as RTA but when submitting times, make sure the time is entered into the correct section. (In-Game Time) for levels and (Time) for Full game.
I've added a levels leaderboard for all tracks, which includes separate categories for different weather conditions and a variables dropdown menu for specific cars

I've contacted the moderator regarding time trial for the boards, I think it should be implemented as a levels leaderboard which includes all tracks, have 3 seperate tabs for weather conditions, dry, light rain, heavy rain, then have all cars and bikes listed as variations, that way there will be a board for each car/bike individually on all tracks.
I see this post is over 3 years old but the levels leaderboards have recieved an overhaul as of yesterday and it's now possible to submit race laps
NMG NG/NG+ are the glitchless categories, a few things are permitted but it would be a stretch to describe them as glitches
After seeing the shotgun & smg only categories added to RE2R, I thought I'd test out shotgun only in this game, I tried standard and it was pretty fun. I managed all Jill's areas using only the shotgun, the amount of steelboy/powder pickups wasn't too bad and didn't really feel like much hassle, obviously just went free rein as Carlos since he doesn't get one. I don't think Hardcore is possible but definitely assisted/standard. Not sure if this could get added to secondary categories but thought it was worth mentioning as it did feel quite fun to run and there were some unique strats for certain areas when limited to the shotty.
I think last weeks update reset or changed something that affected the console leaderboards, it seems newly verified runs don't make a previous pb obsolete if it was run on a different console. NG+ Full Game currently affected.
For runs where loading times matter then it would make sense but not for the level runs. Loading times are also faster on the series s/x consoles so if an xbox one category is required then so would be a category for series s/x, runs done on an emulator would have to be separated also
When playing the 360 version via backwards compatibility you can just submit runs as 360, there's no Xbox One version of the game, just like if people are playing the game on an emulator on PC, there's no PC category, just a checkbox to say it's on an emulator but it's still classed as PS2, Xbox or 360
