Hello.
I'd like to suggest a visual change regarding splits under runs, when available.
Currently when a split is gold, it just says "Gold" (or whatever the word is in other languages) under the split name, however the split time itself stays white.
I think it would be more interesting to color the split time (or even the text on the entire line) in gold instead, so that it becomes more obvious which split is gold or not.
So we would go from this :
To this :
Additionnaly, if the data is available, i think adding green and red colors (for timesaves and timelosses) would be a good addition.
Splits would become more relevant, but most importantly easier to read at a glance. Currently they're just a wall of white lines.
On top of this, for runs that have a lot of splits, it would make it easier to keep track of the splits while scrolling.
Hello, i've taken a look at the leaderboard and i'm really confused :
When selecting 60 FPS variables for showing runs, 120 FPS runs shows up instead (if i'm selecting 60 from the second FPS option, as the first one just hides every run... actually, why is everything showing up 2 times ?).
The rules asks for Livesplit to be on screen, yet it seems pointless : runs never mentions RTA at all (as in, it's not shown anywhere, all that matters seems to be IGT).
Any chance the leaderboard could be fixed ? Its a huge mess atm and it's making looking for strats (other than NG standard) very difficult.
Hey, any chance you guys could add a category for the finished game ? There's only categories for the demos
Also, would be nice to add subcategories for both characters, bad and true ending, and maybe difficulties
Hello,
We found out that all this time, clockwise runs for both Myogi and Usui were actually counterclockwise, and counterclockwise runs were actually clockwise.
All current runs will be put the the correct categories, but i cannot modify YouTube / Twitch highlight titles so you guys should update these whenever you can.
Thanks and sorry for that.
Also, here are some pics to avoid confusion when submitting new runs (or verifying them);
Myogi :
On this pick you can see both choices, red corresponds to counterclockwise, and blue corresponds to clockwise (the game also adds an arrow to show this on the minimap in bottom corner)
Usui :
Counterclockwise (red):
Clockwise (blue):
Also, here are some pics for Shomaru Pass and Happogahara, in case anyone gets confused about inbound and outbound;
Red = outbound Blue = inbound
Happogahara:
Outbound (red) :
Inbound (blue) :
Shomaru pass :
Outbound (red) (there's a sign right-next to the car, to the left):
Inbound (blue) (the guardrail to the right is replaced with dirt and herbs):
Hai, i'm a bit confused about this so i though i'd ask instead of making a dumb decision.
Basically, there's a serie i manage, wich is mostly for "official" games.
There's a fangame that's related to that serie though, i kinda wanna add it to the serie, but is it really a good idea, since it's not "official" ?
Also, i didn't see any option to add "fangame" below it, wich i think could make things a bit confusing (and tbh that really bothers me too).
After talking between each others, us (mods), have decided to change the rules for ILs (Time Attack mode), the new rules are;
- Time Attack mode ONLY
- Replays should be submitted if you have what's needed to record them (webcam, capture cards, etc)
- Any vehicle is allowed (DLC Update included, even though it disappeared from the store for now)
-
Timing: in-game time
-
Screenshots "CAN" be accepted, but as mentionned above, if you can record, please record a video instead
Please note that we DO NOT think that people have been cheating so far, these changes are an attempt to prevent that from happening.
Also, times that have been approved so far will NOT be removed from the leaderboard.
Hai, not sure if i should ask this in the feedback thread, oh well.
A while ago, i remember reading about a special "space" on the leaderboards and series pages to put a link to the discord and/or community sites.
Well, mostly for the discord communities. Is this still planned ? If not, any chance of doing it ?
PS: While we can just share the link via the forums, it looks "meh", and having a special "space" directly on the left would make the link more visible.
Since i made a topic about the routes, may as well make one explaining how console and emulator works for Boktai.
Currently, there's 2 ways to play Boktai:
- Using an emulator with the Sunlight Patch
- Using a GBA, NDS, or the GameBoy Player on NGC with a BlackLight OR an UV flashlight.
Using an Emulator with the Sunlight Patch
This is the easier way of playing Boktai. With the patch, you can change the sunlight whenever you want, you can even have it at max, wich rarely happens on console, unless you're using special items and such, but it's not important for now.
But there's one problem: raising the sunlight with the patch can take a bit, and you basically raise it block by block, wich makes some strats do less damages (for example, using the sunlight against the Count will do less damages than with max sunlight).
Using the BlackLight / UV flashlight on a console
Normal light isn't detected by the solar sensor on the cartridges, only UV light are (cos', you know, the Sunlight sends some). Thus, only flashlights that emits UV light will affect the solar sensors. Blacklight emits some too.
Now, about the risks;
-
If you're using a blacklight, make sure to turn it off whenever you don't need it (example: dialogs), otherwise the blacklight can get really hot after some time (2 - 3h+)
-
Temperature affects the sunlight, in a way, the hotter the blacklight is, the more sunlight you will get, but that also increases your chances of getting an overheat during runs (wich is a reset)
-
About UV flashlights, i do NOT know about temperatures, but one thing's for sure; you gotta turn it off whenever you don't need it too. If not for the flashlight itself, do it for the cartridge, would be a shame to break the sensor or anything during runs, right ?

I'll put a link to an UV flashlight that currently, both I and DarkSun (Boktai 2 runner) uses. I have been told that not all UV flashlight works, so that way, you're sure to find one that works with the games. Plus, this flashlight gives more sunlight right off the bat compared to blacklights.
Anyway, any situation in-game where the blacklight / UV flashlight are better than the Sunlight Patch on emulator... well, there actually IS one. When you switch these ON, unlike with the patch, the sun won't raise block by block. If they're oriented good enough (you know, depending on where the cardtridge is), you will, most of the time, get atleast 4 blocks right away.
This makes some strats better, again, as an example, using skylights will be better, technically. Using the sunlight against enemies will do more damage.

That's it for now, thanks for reading.
Hellow,
I'd like to suggest adding Normal and Hard difficulty settings for runs, also, puttings all 11 chapters for the Level Leaderboard would be logic since, well... there's 11.
Thanks in advance.
Hellow !
I'd like to make some changes to a leaderboard, but i'm actually not sure about how i should do the changes.
Basically, i'd like http://www.speedrun.com/ides to look like http://www.speedrun.com/tsiiyh
The problem is, i've noticed that if i just add subcategories, all runs disappears and i cannot have access to all of them anymore (especially the ones that aren't from me). Also, in this case it's not just adding subcategories, but deleting some of the main categories also, and use subcategories to make it look better (atleast imo).
So yeah, any idea about how i should do that ?

Hai
I'm making a topic cos' imo, it's not really feedback, more like a suggestion. I've been on that site for some time now, and, while it seems to be more active (the leaderboards alwyas were, in a way, but the forums got a bit better since imo), i still find it kinda... well, not that active actually, especially, the forums.
I'd like to suggest adding a chatbox or something like that, i think it could be fun, maybe it'll make the forums (and stuffs like that) more active in a way. On another note, maybe it could help too, maybe peoples could actually ask about games, leaderboards, and other stuff in it, thus leading to less topics for the same things, also maybe that way the site will look more friendly to new users.
So... yeah, that's pretty much it. Thanks in advance for reading and stuff.
Hai
Don't really know what to say tbh, so... I'm Doc, i like video games in general, especially speedruns and TASes, i've been watching them (especially TASes) for a really long time now.
I've been checking this site for a while too, i'm glad my game got accepted, and in a way, it worked how i wanted it to work, it attracted some peoples.
I've been thinking about putting other games, but so far it's nowhere near as good as i want it to be (no routes, doesn't even know if speedrunnable correctly, etc).
Not much else to say, i'm French, i don't expect much but from what i've seen so far the community doesn't seems bad.
So yeah, Hai o/
