If you mean literally putting a switch in your console, I know of people who have done that but not on the SMS leaderboards. I don't think it would be illegal since it doesn't alter gameplay but you might have to ask a mod to make sure. As for using free loader or an alternative I know that that's fine as I do it myself.

I don't know a lot about the specifics of this so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it is actually secure. The entire domain is just a masked redirect, so whatever the address bar is is not the website you're actually on. So for example the real link for the homepage is actually https://mwolfe11.wixsite.com/sunshine. That's why the link doesn't change when switching pages on the site. I know wix is secure, so I think http://www.learnsunshine.com should be as well since it's really just the wixsite URL.

The purpose is not to seek publicity. I do legitimately want the SMS community to grow. Before I had thought of making a tutorial site and bought the domain it actually was going to be a personal website. The homepage is kind of a remnant of that. I didn't delete them because I didn't spend very much time on the homepage, and didn't really think about them at all let alone they being percieved to be making it about publicity. The homepage wasn't a priority because I thought that most users wouldn't care about it and click straight to a specific level or just use the subdomain redirects. I apologize, I should have thought about that. They're deleted.

Also thank you for telling me, I appreciate the feedback.

Well that wasn't the purpose. Sorry, I changed it.

Hello all! For the past couple months in my free time I have been making a website for SMS speedrunning tutorials. I know the milk.dog guide exists, but I wanted to try it out for myself and have example videos and some text explanation as well. I got the domain http://www.learnsunshine.com/. I think it's pretty cool and might be useful for new runners. I also wanted to make a more simple way of getting to the pages so they're all in the same place and neatly organized in a place dedicated for any%. I made a subdomain redirect to each level page to make it easy to memorize as well. For example the page for gelato 8 (gbs) can be accessed with gb8.learnsunshine.com and so on, although you can just browse them all from the home page. For a full list, I made links.learnsunshine.com. (idk why but these don't link to anywhere from here, it works if you type it into an address bar). Hope it helps and tell me what you think!

I’m a little late to this thread but I figure I’ll put in my two cents. In my opinion a highscore section of speedrun.com or highscore.speedrun.com would just dilute attention for both of them while also creating a confusing domain name. Speedrun.com, or whatever website is created, does have a significant chance to be the premier highscore website considering SRC’s reputation and the odds are only increased with pooled data from highscore.com and cyberscore. What I would recommend would be a sister site to speedrun.com that has the same look and format to it. This way the new website would be easily relatable to SRC for a new visitor and you could have a tab on the top bar to change between them. As for the domain, I liked someone highscores.com idea but that might be too similar to the original highscore.com so I’m not sure. I did see in the SRC discord that highsco.re was available though.

Personally, I agree with fast any% being a catagory. Enough people do it that it is competetive enough, and getting the practice codes isn't very difficult, along with the wii being pretty cheap. The only thing I have against it is the possibility of splitting the leaderboards, but putting it as a miscellaneous catagory will most likely stop that.

The time differences between emulator and console aren't really to the point where they need to be seperated. The only reason the 1:35 cut is a rule is because it's very easy to make a convincing tas, and even then if someone has enough interest in the game to get past 1:35 then hardware isn't really too expensive. Personally, I would agree to having the emulator cutoff being pushed lower since 1:30s aren't hard enough to get to suspect a tas or splice but I think it serves it's purpose. Not to mention the fact that a leaderboard split would lower the competetiveness of the game overall. One of the things that I've always thought was the best about our leaderboards was simply the number of unsplit runs which made, in my opinion, for having a better time increasing in skill. Also, i'm assuming a big reason for the sm64 split was because of virtual console which we don't have to deal with. In conclusion, a leaderboard split to dodge the cutoff would in no way solve the reason that it's there in the first place and I don't think it's necessary. However i suppose that would be up to the community.

If you're new you should look at some any% tutorials or runs and try to replicate those. GrandsStarYoshi has a tutorial playlist on youtube and i believe DutchJ has one as well. I also recommend you join the SMS discord so you can ask questions more directly, there should be an invite link in the resources tab.

That was already known, I believe I put it in my glitch video. I'll link it later.

Its at about 29:50, turn on english subtitles.

That is a very obscure glitch. I didn't know about it until about a month ago. I believe I got it from a video by Ontariodrome. It's cool to see kug without cheats.

It could be okay if you add up the time from each level however the downfall of this is that going from world to world is longer than the time spent racing Piantissimo. Personally I would try this, however if it was extremely competetive it would get boring to grind going around Delfino Plaza to each of the Piantissimo levels over and over again.
