I'll admit I didn't take Harmonies into account when making the category, but for the sake of consistency, it would be for the best that you stick to one setting for the whole run without swapping mid-run. I'll go ahead and add a variable for denoting Solo/Harmonies; they can share the same leaderboard. (Though if the day comes where a three-person team attempts a Triple Harmony FGFC run, I'll amend the board further to accomodate that.)

As for the 99% glitch (which happens if you get at least one Fab rating that doesn't yield the full 1000 points), it would still be an FC since you achieved the maximum streak. I'll amend the rules to clarify that those cases are accepted.

The other Rock Band games feature tour modes where you're given choices for song selection and how to progress. It's not a particularly compelling hook for speedrunning but it at least somewhat justifies the category existing, as it introduces routing possibilities.

The Beatles: Rock Band's story mode is nothing like that. It's just playing the whole setlist from beginning to end. It is as rigid as it gets. Rock Band 1's singleplayer mode functions very similarly and its leaderboard is a ghost town, likely because every other potential runner came to the same conclusion that it's just a normal no-frills playthrough of the game with virtually zero variance in playtime. The bottom line is there is just no competive value to an Any% category for this game.

And as a side note, the instruments are their own boards because they feature different skill sets; it also allows a runner that's done more than one category to be properly represented on the leaderboards. If you have a problem with that then you won't like the board for Green Day: Rock Band (the game most similar to TBRB) because it's laid out the same way.

[Also accusing someone of not "giving a damn" about the game they moderate in DMs is not a good look. Get a better attitude.]

I'm so sorry for not responding sooner (SRC didn't notify me! urgh!).

I like this idea, but I think I'd need to see a run of it attempted first before I can give it the go-ahead. My main concern is that the seeming requirement of more players might make it a formatting mess. I'll try what I can once I see it done though.

Rock Band speedruns in general are catered to players that are highly experienced with the game. Within that crowd, the overwhelming consensus is that Any% is pointless in the context of a list-style Rock Band mode, since there isn't really any inherent challenge or routing to it (if you're failing songs, why run it at all?). Aside from resetting a song during a long cutscene there's no way to optimize things any further; it's basically just a glorified autoscroller.

Full Game Full Combo speedruns on the other hand are a long test of consistency and require sufficient skill with the game. While there's a hard line where things can't be optimized further, a "perfect" FGFC run requires an unlikely level of concentration and consistency, as opposed to an Any% run that requires the absolute bare minimum from the player.

While that sounds like a high bar for newcomers, Beatles in particular is actually one of the more doable titles in this regard compared to others, as it's considered one of the easier FGFCs across the board.

In the end, I don't see a need for an Any% category, as it's simply too redundant relative to a casual playthrough.

The following changes have been made to the game's leaderboard.

Difficulties are now filters instead of subcategories. This is more for the sake of reducing visual clutter than anything else, as it's unlikely that many runners (if at all) would consider running any difficulty other than Expert.

Full Band has been added, split into two subcategories. Added by request. The subcategories cover Quickplay and Story respectively. The finer details are laid out in the [sub]category rules.

First off, thank you for making an effort to address the common issues so quickly after the layout's debut. 🙂

Second, I have some suggestions to offer:
3. Day Mode is default instead of Night Mode I haven't decided what to do about this yet, because I want to give equal weight to them. I welcome suggestions.
In the case of SRC, I'd suggest making Dark Mode the default and Light Mode the alt-toggle. The vanilla themes of every previous iteration of SRC were dark mode, so it would seem odd to flip the default style at this point; it would just come across as change for the sake of change.
4. Themes don't load on Day Mode Unfortunately, I can't do much about this. I've tried everything to get themes using light colours (like pink / yellow) to look good on Day Mode, but it just doesn't work. Again, I welcome suggestions for solutions to this problem.
The suggestion that immediately comes to mind for me is having two colors for themes instead of one, with each being used for a respective mode setting (ex. Dark Mode color is yellow, Light Mode color is purple).

Alternatively – and I say this without knowing how much work it would be coding-wise – have Light Mode flip the saturation and brightness values (i.e. the "SB" of HSB) of all theme colors. So for example...

Light Coral (S=50, B=100) in Dark Mode → Maroon (S=100, B=50) in Light Mode https://i.imgur.com/XLVID3s.png

Light Yellow-Green (S=54, B=100) in Dark Mode → Dark Yellow-Green (S=100, B=54) in Light Mode https://i.imgur.com/Lj0WmrQ.png

The big caveat with this idea, however, is the neutral values – black, white and grays. Since flipping the S and B of any non-black neutral would make black, the alternative solution would be to only flip brightness, which can be done by subtracting the brightness value from 100.

Light Gray (B=63) in Dark Mode → Dark Gray (B=37) in Light Mode https://i.imgur.com/9pZnoJk.png

I spent more time than originally intended with that last bit. Whoops. Regardless I hope anything in this little spiel of mine helps. 🙂

SECOND POST EDIT: So uh, there was an error in my first post, but I couldn't fix it because the edit prompt wouldn't work for some reason. Don't know if that's just me. 🤔 Went ahead and deleted it.

This post edit: I can edit this one though! Odd.

To give my two cents, there's definitely a fair amount of that feels like it was unnecessarily scrapped. There's of course the obvious stuff like backgrounds and custom SRC logo banners (I can understand axing the former, but the latter seemed benign enough), but the Edit Theme page for user profiles is where I'm particularly baffled.

https://imgur.com/vQTUtzZ

The big thing that stands out to me is the restriction to one custom color, as opposed to the array of parameters you could set colors to in the previous layout. I can think of several reasons to restrict image uploads from a moderation standpoint, but I see no positive reason to remove color customization in such a Scorched-Earth-style manner; it even has a negative impact on the interface since there's no longer a visual distinction between new and visited links, on top of other things.

Minor extra note: the Banner field lacks suggested size or dimensions for the image upload. (I highly doubt that was on purpose, though)

The following was posted to Discord by server staff, but to minimize confusion, I felt it necessary to repost it here as well.

"Hello everybody, I have a very important announcement for you all. In light of recent developments in BotW, discussions among the staff and community have taken place about leaderboard rules in response to these new discoveries, and other presented ideas.

The following changes will be made to the Breath of the Wild leaderboards on SRC:

 • All forms of pre loading are now banned. Any parameters from previous files may not make their way into run files, including skew.

 • Timing now begins upon gaining control of Link, instead of new game. This is to prevent unnecessary console resets in between attempts by negating any effect of cutscene pre loading. Due to this change, existing times will be retimed over the coming week.

The following changes will be made to the 100% leaderboard.

 • Runners are now allowed 2 pauses of the timer during their run, no more than 9 hours in duration each.

 • A Filter will be added to the board distinguishing between runs that use pauses, and runs that do not.

 • In addition to the TA time (not including time paused) that will provide the main rankings for the board, an RTA timing will also be displayed that shows the total time of the run, including breaks, just as the current board does.

These changes will take effect on the boards very soon. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns."

If that's happening and Link looks weird for a frame or two, it means you needed to reset your ragdoll state.

Shield-jumping bugs out Link's ragdoll state. To reset it, you need to do something that would typically cause Link to enter ragdoll. Not resetting it will cause Link to bug out and fall in place the next time he's supposed to ragdoll from damage (I.E. He won't get momentum).

In runs, the most common way to reset Link's ragdoll is to "flop", which is to board your shield and unequip it after you land on the ground with it. (Example: 23:40 in this video )

https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplit.Counter/releases

Plugin for LiveSplit that lets you make a counter; hotkeys for resetting/shifting the counter can be adjusted in the Layout options.

This plugin is particularly useful for tracking how many FCs you've acquired throughout the run, giving viewers an idea of your current progress.
