I agree with the suggestion from @ShikenNuggets
Maybe if we also had an improved quoting or embedding system for linking different threads, that would be even better. Something like displaying the title of the thread as an embed or something like that. Hopefully the forums do get a more proper rework and not just a quick facelift down the road.
Yeah this is an unofficial one, which sadly does not get read. IF YOU WANT THE SITE STAFF TO READ YOUR FEEDBACK AS WELL, PLEASE SEND THEM A SUPPORT REQUEST IN THE SUPPORT HUB!
Go here for it:
This is a bit OT, but if you have feedback, you should also send it in through the support hub. Site staff continued to say that they will not read this or any threads and only respond to feedback (well I guess its more they only read it) if you send it through the support hub as a ticket.
Its stupid in my opinion and I feel like its somewhat disrespectful towards the community but I just wanted to relay that information in case you do not know it yet. I still would like you guys to share feedback in here, as otherwise information or feedback gets lost in a system, where only site staff can look into.
@Yok sadly its automatically translated by something like google translate. Its really subpar and lackluster in pretty much all languages that are not english. Which is a shame, really.
@RecPro The Streams section is pretty much not been worked on since it being added in i think 2016? While it could use some work, you could also simply search on twitch for now under the speedrun tag. Tho I think a few advanced filtering settings could be beneficial.
TAS leaderboards
I do think the only appropiate thing would be to link to Tasvideos.org
But knowing elos past and especially the mega man disaster, I highly doubt it. And if they implement it seperate from Tasvideos.org, this could be very messy and fragment the communities again.
You should still be able to also just delete teh notifcations, for the same thread you get multiple notifications so technically I need to open the same thread multiple times to get rid of all notifications for that thread.
I mean yeah, I think we would heavily benefit from a reworked forum
You need to buy any device to capture it. Either a capture card, a webcam that you point at the tv or a phone that you can point at the tv.
There is no way around that. And videoproof is sadly required in most games.
Can i just say that acts reponse was genuinely underrated?
I’ve heard better responses from @derric_young
Also yes, as almost everyone already wrote, you can speedrun anything. But some games are less suitable or skill expressive. A VN that has only menuing is predetermined in length. You cannot be significantly faster than another person who knows how to menu. While menuing is a skill in speedruns, having pre determined menuing as the only aspect of a game with nothing else, the question is where one can improve. If I know the most optimal choices, I can do one run, and never touch the game again as I peaked and reached the skill ceiling. That is infact the definition of a bad speedgame. I have had a look at your youtube channel and looked at the speedrun. I mostly skimmed through it as it seemed to consist of waiting for minutes so autoplay comes to a point where you need to manually input a decision. That is a bad speedgame. On the contrary, lets look at other popular visual novels such as the no escape series or Ace Attoney. Those have more complex game loops with point and click elements sprinkled into those games. While it can be debated if those are also not well suited speedgames, those are most certainly much more suitable as those require much more than just simply skipping text and pressing one of 2 choices.
Livesplit one does but there is no desktop version of it, only the browser one as of right now
Really good free editing software that is out there is davinci resolve, kdenlive and avidemux. Avidemux is the lightest of them all, followed by kdenlive and last davinci resolve. I would recommend simply looking up your needs. Cropping can be done by all of those programs.
You cant. Not even with a capture card. Maybe some games offer that feature, but a capture card wont magically show the rendered fps count.
That Laptop is not good enough for videogames really. This is an office laptop which is not really suitable. You really need to get a better PC.
Nope not really. Is it a PC game? In that case consider looking into writing a load remover for it.
Is it a console game or PC game? On console it is close to impossible to create a load remover. Otherwise look into load removers for livesplit. You would have to create your own one, you can check out the speedrun tool development discord for help and guides on how to do that. https://discord.com/invite/N6wv8pW
To be fair, this is quite an issue if you implement such a feature half baked.
