Bounty is a sub 43 second time on the Hornet level, 42.99 would count. $100 for emulator, $150 for original hardware. For any runners new too the game, feel free to reply to this thread with any questions. And i recommend checking the channels and videos of previous and current runners, we've got a few videos of runs. Theres not really any advanced tricks, just the fast start in the beginning. You learn how to do that in the campaign mode. For the most part every cars fast start is a bit different, but thankfully the levels are short so you can just restart until you get a fast start. This games not rocket science really, i played it as a kid and only recently found this forum, and i actually set a few records before even finding the forum. Every player new or old feel free to reach out with questions, if you don't understand something ill do my best to describe it to you, just reply to this thread. This weekend imma post a few posts on r/speedrun about a bounty on hornet to try and get some hype going for this game, i dont care if one person joins or one thousand, if you beat the goal you win the money. Im thinking like $100 for beating the selected time, and $150 if you beat it using a cartridge instead of an emulator. Really hope this gets some people into the game, cuz i sure dont wanna be $150 out for no reason lmao.
It really sucks being good at a game that 15 people ever have played. I really wanna play this sometimes to beat my own records but it's not nearly as fun without someone pushing me to lower my times. Sad face
Alright, so since theres nothing going on in this game i decided to do a small amount of research. And i was able to get gold on a track in expert middle class with a fully tuned midget 2, and gold in a track in the professional one as well. Now off that i would say if this is possible, you would need a really good car control and understanding of the game. Because even though i was able to get golds it was barely, and i probably used more tuning than i would have at the time i'd get to those tracks. But to be fair i doubt 1 engine tuning would make that much of a difference. In expert its all about catching up, and the car has the speed to, but you need to take turns very well and even then its cutting it close. But if youre interested i fully suggest looking into it
Hi guys, I've been added as an admin and i wanted to say if you have any issues feel free to post about them i check this page often.
I've also added a new category for level runs, Initial D %. I doubt this category will gain much traction but its an homage to the anime Initial D, a drifting anime in which this game has alot of nods to, including the map Night Kids, which are a group in the anime. The main rule is the only car allowed is the base Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86, the base version not the tuned one. Maximum tuning is allowed however, and the color is optional. Ill be adding some runs to the category in the next few days to try and bump it up a bit. Even though its slower i quite enjoy the control that car has.
