This really is a great route, I never understood Jason's movement in the woods that well and that was the result of other routes. So many new times have been submitted with it in the past year.

I appreciate some of the input. I'm honestly OK with allowing it because I don't know how someone would even manage to alter the RNG seeds. I do think the console itself should be reset rather than using the PowerPak menu, though. As far as price goes, you're honestly spending more money on the PP, but I guess as a longterm investment you're saving money if you plan to run/play a lot of games.

As far as hiding emulator runs, I haven't been too sure what to do or what emulator is most accurate. I've only had them hidden because some other communities (OoT for example) do this. But for OoT, emulator runs that are within 10% of world record aren't accepted. I don't know how that would work for F13th. There's obviously way more accuracy to how NES games run than N64, but even so I've noticed a few times in the past, emulator submissions that were loading areas quicker than real NES.

At the end of the day I'm pretty firm on preferring console, at least if you are going for record.

I suppose that could work, but I'm still iffy about using one at all over a real cartridge. Someone could hack a rom for example to where good RNG seeds are more consistent and we wouldn't know.

You don't have to download the app to use discord (can use web). I don't see why they would forbid you from using it considering you're allowed to post here, it's honestly no different.

If I were you I would try and reason with them at least (or not listen, whichever works for you).

So I didn't realize a couple of times were submitted on flash carts like the PowerPak. I never really specified in the rules before about these. I kept the times verified for now, but all future submissions should be on a real cart if possible.

Was wondering how others felt about allowing these. Currently, emulator times are hidden on the boards and not considered "official" and I'm not sure if Power Pak should be the same deal. The main reason I'm not a fan of this is because you can reset on the cartridge, not actually resetting the console. I don't think the RNG seeds reset the same way like this, plus it's just easier and less tedious than resetting the console.

It's on pace for a 25 - 30 minute run, which I'd consider pretty good for a first run.

Didn't realize this forum was somewhat active. Just wanted to thank you all for being apart of this small community, one that could be more interactive but I suppose the opportunity hasn't arisen. It's pretty great seeing over 20 times submitted after there being no more than a handful for a couple years. I was essentially the single knowledge base for this game over the course of a decade, from obsessively playing and studying the game at 14 to setting my previous WR at 22. I'm amazed someone beat me to the sub 3 minutes, and before I'm done with speedrunning (likely in 2020) I plan to go for a 2:55. Wish me luck! And good luck to all on your goals. It seems recent routes are a lot easier and faster than anything I'd ever come up with. I can only hope some of the info I gathered lead to this better discovery.

I mean VC is an official release is it not? Don't see the logic in banning it. I prefer N64 by 1,000 miles for OoT as well but it's BS to ban VC lol

I guess a lot of the people who were updating it often aren't really around anymore. I'm able to edit pages on ZSR and have updated quite a few, but I guess there's a lot more that needs to be done.

I think ZSR is more alive than it has been though. It loads fine now all the time.

The current All Dungeons route is easier than MST since it's very similar to MST but with basically unlimited explosives. Whoever said it isn't was probably referring to the older route. I've never actually heard of anyone saying MST is a good beginner category, No IM/WW and any% are usually referred to when someone brings up what's good for beginners. MST is alright for beginners but there are many more tricks involved.

The fact that there are already a ton is why I think this shouldn't be added. If people want to run the old any% route, they may do so. But adding any% no im would be like adding mst no ww, it just wouldn't be necessary.

There are already ways to do GIM on n64 without crashing the game. For example, Light Arrows in BoTW. You can also prevent crashes by tweaking with the camera a bit to unload things around you, iirc. So I don't agree with you that it should be banned on emu, it works on all versions, just not in every circumstance.
