CanadaFor me personally, Ottawa would be the most convenient. If I were to take as many other people as I can into account while still being able to make it myself, then I would say to have the event take place in Toronto or any American City that is relatively close to the Canadian border. I do have a passport so flying to the United States would be a non-issue. However I would rather keep it in Canada (AKA Toronto), so I would need less time off of work for travel. I only have 5 days of vacation that I can use, so if the event is in Toronto, I can spend more of that time at the event and less of it on the road.

To add a little bit on to what quo said. I think having more TVs just to do non-speedrun stuff on would have made it easier on our morale. Just a corner with a few more TV sets so we can take a break from speedrunning and still have something to do, especially for those who aren't really into e-sports.
Another thing was the chairs. Something with a cushion or structurally sound would have been nice. However chairs can be a tricky thing, especially when we had to work with the space we had. Definitely would not have the room for everyone to get an office chair for example. So I'm not at all resentful for the way that situation turned out.
I can also vouch for the awesome food selection. That was a big concern for me but I never went [super] hungry and was kept in a good mood. Also, having to pay 60 bucks for a complete train ride as being my only cost to attend the event was sick, probably the biggest highlight of the event. I know there's more, but I can't think of it right now.
I would definitely have an interest in doing this marathon again, and it was super cool being able to connect some faces to the names I've been talking to online. As well as meeting some new runners and making friends

Will the passes we get give us access to the rest area? Or do we get some kind of hotel discount nearby?
So my category literally died today. It's super un-safe for marathons and I don't trust that there's enough time to find strats to make it stable. Since it's the only game I really run, the only solution i can think of is take me off the schedule, or i learn a 3 hour long category for the same game (bumping my estimate up a lot).

The title of the thread puts it pretty simply. My source is my father, who works for a company located at the Trudeau airport. So he's in and out of the city everyday and keeps tabs on the local news there. So if you want to drive to the event, please keep in mind that there will be a lot of extra time (hard to say exactly, but expect the worst) spent in traffic. In my two second google search for train tickets, I discovered that the Montreal Central Station is across the street from Place Bonaventure. So that looks like a good alternative for those coming from out of town.
For those who have yet to attend a marathon, what will be provided on site and what will we be expected to bring ourselves? Our own controller, keyboard and mouse, and memory cards come to mind as the obvious thing that we will need to provide ourselves. But that's all that is really coming to mind right now at 2 a.m.
I work on Friday the 12th and I cannot go that day or take a day off (i work afternoons plus I'm out of holidays).
