yeah you'll probably get more answers quicker at the discord
ere, mate: https://www.speedrun.com/smbce#Any_No_Coins
I second hitz. this is great
fundamentally dogs and humans are the same, afaik they're just flesh connected with nerves and veins so like, we should add a category for dogs
@KilleDragon your wish is granted, long live jambi
eventually it'd be pretty much impossible to improve any times because most runs would quickly become fully optimized plus, most of the biggest glitches in smb1 have to do with ending the level, and that isn't important in ILs. other than those, most glitches wouldn't even be useful so runners would end up just regularly playing a lot of the levels
I agree, I think it should be added. It would be interesting to see imo
Responding to RipJaws768: I never said there was an issue, I was just wondering what people think about this
Haven't posted here in a pit and thought I might try to start a conversation :]
I'm curious what people have to say about the matter: The fact that the SMB1 community is so large causes plenty of problems, but one I was curious about was the fact that most/everything that should be changed on the leaderboards has been thought up already. Because of this, very little change happens in the actual leaderboards (though we don't know what goes on behind closed doors.) What do you guys think? Does this hinder the evolution of the community/leaderboards themselves? What other things might contribute to this or are similar to this issue? Is it even an issue in the first place?
Sorry, I'm a bit late! I made the All Keys category, and at the time I didn't see a need to go to the secret levels due to the fact that you don't normally enter them on other runs. I see how this could get confusing, seeing as the rules must've not detailed that you don't need to grab them (in my defense, I didn't make the actual page on this website so I didn't handle the rules and stuff as you'd see them here) plus, the name does make it confusing- though I don't know what else we'd call it, but it doesn't really need to be accurate I'm not trying to stop people from discussing or changing the category, I just thought I might give my pov
Don't ever be afraid to ask questions! The only was to learn is to make mistakes and learn from your peers- especially when speedrunning. Anyone who says other wise is a jacka$$ and isn't worth your time.
I'd recommend learning WJ room and Blazit. Both are relatively easy and fun to do, plus they set you up for learning frame-perfect inputs and are pretty important later on. Of course, they don't need to be used in a run until around 4:56 or 4:58 (give or take a sec, depending on your route and goal. Might also be wrong because I haven't really been a ''big'' in the community in a while so I might've forgotten that stuff but idk) They're still pretty useful though.
Pretty sure there's no way to make an enemy come over to the wall, unless ACE is possible, which I don't think is.
- The only enemies in the room are goombas at the end of it
- If you were to get the goombas to the start you would've waisted all your time
- You can't scroll the screen backwards in OG SMB1
- If you were to roll the screen over going back to the start of the level, I'm pretty sure the enemies would despon as the koopas do in WJ room Fin
Also you can go inside the triggers while holding down space, and while facing the left or right wall, release space. The camera will go through the wall behind the one you were facing, and some weeeeiiiiirrrrrdddd stuff will happen (in E1)
You can clip through the EOG Triggers by holding space (or whatever other key you use to open doors) in Ecwolf.
Doesn't work on DosBox btw, I checked.
I understand being excited for your run to be verified, but you have to realize that the mods for this game have tons of runs to verify, as well as internet/personal lives. Like sr.c says, sometimes verification can take 3 weeks. After all, this is no Wolfenstein 3D lol.
