If you are a newcomer to this game or this category, a few things to note:

- This guide does NOT cover specific locations of star coins if you do not know where they are. If you can't find one, consult **[this](https://www.ign.com/wikis/new-super-mario-bros-wii/Walkthrough)** guide.
- Losing powerups you need for other levels is very common. If you want to prevent this, you may want to visit a few red mushroom houses throughout the run. You can find the possible patterns **[here](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/wii/960544-new-super-mario-bros-wii/map/6629?raw=1).**
- There are levels with backup powerups. Any level with one will be marked with [B], and ones that only have it in a roulette block are marked with [b]. There are also slight tweaks to the powerup route that are slower but easier.

# Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT THE OPTIMAL ROUTE. 

As of July 20th, 2023, the current World Record uses a route other than this one. That will likely be the case for eternity. There are other theoretical routes that are faster, but at the moment are not considered RTA viable. - In 7-Tower, Coin 3 is Regular Exit Only.

Time ends when the "Congratulations! You've completed everything in New Super Mario Bros. Wii!" message appears. If it does not appear, make sure you:

- Used Every Cannon
- Completed Every Exit, even if it does not unlock another level
- Drank enough water

This is recommended to players starting with this category or any longer category that visits World 2 or World 7.

Any% Propeller Route (With Backups, For New runners/Beginners)

Timing Starts on the First Input on the overworld map. 

1-1:
Move to 1-1 and Powerup by running through the Checkpoint then Take the Propeller Head (Prop for short) and clear the Rest of the Stage.
1-2:
There isnt really any Important Thing to do besides Picking Up the star midway through for faster running Speed aswell as being able to Walk through the enemies. If you enter the Level without prop you can Pickup the Iceflower for later. You should only Pick Up the Iceflower If an ?-Block with an Iceflower inside is on your way.
1-3:
If you enter the Level without prop you can either use Yoshi to get to the Hidden area, or if you have the Iceflower you can pick Up Yoshi and eat 5 apples to Spawn a prop. Here is the Secret exit leading to 1-Cannon. Take the Red path If you have prop, Take the Green If you use yoshi (Link for Image: https://ibb.co/KzH308Y )
5-1:
You want to try to get the star from the Roulette Block, There is an easy Set Up for it, If you dont have prop, Pick Up the Iceflower to freeze the Piranhas on the Water to Skip this Part of the Level.
For the Next Level you either Choose 5-2 or 5-3, 5-2 is more beginner friendly and much more easier and loses only about 1-2 Seconds on WR Level so its highly recommended to Play 5-2 instead of 5-3.
If you Choose 5-3 There is a Pipe with an Roulette Block inside, you can get a prop there If you lost yours.
5-2:
For this Stage there isnt really any Backup you can get or Something Like that Just make Sure to Not get Hit.
5-T:
For this Stage there isnt an Backup or Something Like that aswell, Just make Sure you dont get Hit because the prop will save you a Lot of time.
5-4:
This Stage can be very frustrating If youre Not doing the 5-4 Skip, because at some point you dont See where the falling enemies are coming from. A Tip: If you dont have the prop for this Level Just Grab the iceflower, freeze the enemies and hold them Over your head so enemies wont Hit you.
5-GH:

8-1:
This Level Can be very frustrating because of the Meteor rng, the prop can be very helpful in this Level.
8-2:
Take the Star in the brick Block (marked yellow on the Picture) and follow the Red path which leads to the Secret exit (marked red on the Picture) (Link to the Image: https://ibb.co/DDWPSN4 )
8-7:
Semi-autoscroller, Just make Sure to end the Level as big mario to spend less time powering Up in 8-Airship
8-Airship:
Powerup and get prop by destroying the First boxes after the First screw. You can get prop back multiple time before the First Pipe so its Not that big of a Deal If you lose it before the First Pipe.
8-Castle:
If you have prop while Entering the bowser Bossfight fly Over him to save several seconds. There is a Tutorial for guiding His fireballs. There is a final prop Backup right before the Escape begins inside a ?-Block. Prop can save you in escape so its highly recommended to get into escape with the prop.

You can see beginner, fast and optimal strats from this series. This Strat Tutorial series has every single level from Any% category, except 8-7 and bombless.

Optimal strats aren't always "optimal" because I'm not a TAS bot. Also, there isn't optimal strats in 5-GH, because it would be just same as fast strat, but small timesaves during the level. 

Some of the strats might be too easy or hard, so you can mix the strats and make strats what are the most consistent for you.
