Hello again. This is an update about some recent changes on the leaderboards that me and sonicyellow have been working through.

——Rules—— In practice, nothing has really changed. [Category Rules] were simplified, while rulings regarding Pause Jumps were moved to the [Game Rules] section. However, there's been one notable addition:

"The usage of the rebind should be intended to mimic keyboard performance, and therefore should not be used in advantageous ways that cannot be done on keyboard."

This was added because it has come to my attention that the usage of rebinded Pause Jumps can slightly differ from keyboard defaults. For example, it's possible to continuously autofire pause beyond a room transition. On keyboard, a transition will stop the pausing and will require you to restart it.

While I do encourage avoiding it, I don't intend to completely ban this as avoiding it may be tricky (people often hold pause until the transition in the first room of Garden) and it's generally slower to have more pauses anyway. To be clear, as of right now, continuous pausing between screens is allowed. However, if something is discovered that uses this difference for an advantage that cannot be done on default keyboard, then that specific advantage will be banned, since allowing it otherwise will cause rebinding to be required for a top time.

——Leaderboard Times—— You're now encouraged to use the autosplitter to record both real and loadless times! The leaderboards now prioritizes loadless times over RTA times to remove the advantage and controversy of running the game on a faster PC. This was all long overdue and I greatly apologize to those who have requested this and worked on the autosplitter years ago.

For older times, retiming runs for a conversion to loadless was considered, but unfortunately there were uncertainties that could not be accurately resolved. To ensure there's no dispute over possible inaccuracy, loadless times are only accepted when recorded by an autosplitter. For the purpose of sorting on the leaderboard, if a submission lack a loadless time, RTA time will be used instead. The [Game Rules] have been updated with this.

Times are now recorded with milliseconds for greater precision, especially to resolve tied runs. For older runs this was reviewed with https://vidtimer.com/ and will be used to review any new submissions without an autosplitter. The start and end timings should match those of where the autosplitter will split. For 30 fps recordings, any uncertainty will be assumed with the slowest times (for just the start/end timing, this just means at most 2 frames may be added).

——Guides—— The [READ THIS FIRST] guide has been overhauled and updated.

Added [List of Questionable Keyboards].

[Common Pause Frequency] is now renamed to [Pause Jumping Details] and has been slightly revised. A small section has been added with some precise measurements to give an idea (but not meant to be a strict guideline).

Updated the video for big pause jump at the start of Garden in [Videos for Speedruns].

Removed a dead link in [Videos of Miscellanea].

——Resources—— Added a link for Ladnok's Cheat Engine tables and adjustments to the autosplitter. Regarding the autosplitter, it's recommended to access it within LiveSplit itself and NOT from the link so that any updates that may happen will apply automatically. As for the cheat engine tables, these can be handy for testing, practicing, referencing purposes but please make sure to close Cheat Engine and restart the game when actually recording attempts.

If there's any concerns, feel free to reach out to the mods on the forums here or on discord.
