Video ends before I pick it up LOL
I don't understand what your frame count is based on, but it's definitely too high
Here's a more accurate explanation:
They wanted to implement variable jump height so that the longer you hold the jump button, the higher you jump. Their solution was that once you're in the air, you're given 2 frames (5 in japanese version) in which when you hit the jump button, you'll jump again. What this usually means is that when you jump from the ground and you hold the jump button, you're really jumping 3 (or 6) times.
They screwed this up though, and they don't check to make sure that all these jump frames are back-to-back. This is really obvious when you walk off of a ledge and are able to jump afterwards.
The most reliable way to double jump is to tap the first jump for 1 or 2 frames. The 2nd jump you can just press normally. Not sure how everyone else does this, but I use my thumb and snap the button. I wear a crappy winter glove I bought from the grocery store for $3 to reduce the pain because it hurts after a while.
I know it makes no sense, but it's faster for some reason.
good job, though note: the end time is when the music starts playing/loss of control
I'd like to request moderation of the Klax leaderboard. Two of the three super mods are completely inactive, I've messaged the 3rd mod (RetroRuns, who doesn't even have a run of the game, but I guess is friends of the other two), and they didn't reply. They've not read the forum post either. I've previously submitted a time for this board a few years ago and they rejected it.
Note that the RetroRuns user still streams and probably just isn't reading their SRC messages. I can't message them on twitch because they have it disabled, and I didn't feel comfortable waiting for them to stream and "ambushing" them. The other two mods are gone.
I understand that skipping the intro is really convenient, but I don't know...that's not really a common thing to do in speedrunning.
Since there's now a feature for "main rules" and "category rules", I moved as much as possible out of category rules to lower the amount of copy & pasting.
Added it, though that video doesn't show the in-game time of the file afterward, can you add a link to a screenshot of it when you submit it? Obviously that's not the best proof, but whatever, this board needs runs.
Also going to use milliseconds for times under a minute
Alright here's my plan, going to retime the runs/categories so they use the same timing:
- Starts when you hit A on the "Press 'A' to start game, or Press 'B' to use the game editor". I don't want to wait for the game board to appear because it's too hard to start the timer accurately, this way you just hit it when you hit A. Plus it seems to be the most popular one anyway.
- Ends on the first frame of the final CPU being bankrupted. 2-player was doing this, but 8-player was doing final input, so I guess I'll retime those.
Obviously I should have asked this earlier (like not 3 years later), but it was rejected for "cheating" which is wrong, it was just using a glitch with the NES version's drop meter. That's not cheating, this isn't early 2000s Twin Galaxies.
