Look at the menu on your Punch-Out submissions. See how it says "Pi-tech" rather than Nintendo at the bottom? That means it's a modified rom. It's technically illegal to provide places to download ROMs, which is why we can't link you to one. You have to either find one yourself, or play on original hardware, or play on a virtual console version of the game (wii, 3ds, switch, etc).
Hey all,
Verifiers have decided to remove the Glass Joe IL Leaderboard. A tied world record of 42.00 is rather trivial to achieve, and the large number of submissions we have received (well over 300) means we spend a long time verifying 42.00 times over and over. This site should serve as a leaderboard for top times, not a list of all people who have accomplished a trivial goal. Ultimately, we believe that it's not worth keeping the Glass Joe IL, and will be removing it now.
If you get a 42.00 on Glass Joe - it's still a world record, so congratulations! We just won't be putting it on the leaderboards anymore.
There's no hard rule really, but it's sorta an unspoken rule that you shouldn't wait long between fights if avoidable.
Freebachelor, uploading videos unlisted would hardly your average watch times or anything like that. Your audience won't see them- it'd only be for submissions to the leaderboard.
For Macho Man, all you have to do is put the in passcode to get to him. However, there are still some fights that would take a bit of time to get to. What you can do is upload the attempt since reset unlisted to YouTube, then submit that to the leaderboards, while uploading a public version of just the fight in question to your YouTube channel.
"Savestates are NOT allowed at any point. To verify this, you MUST include video from the start of a console reset leading up to the successful attempt for ALL future individual fighter submissions! If playing on a flash cart, you can't use the reset feature on the cart; the reset button on the console must be physically pushed. Retroarch is the only banned emulator."
Basically, the most important rule is that we're changing the video requirements for all IL submissions. From now on, the video you submit must start from a console reset. If you start the video from the pre-fight screen, it will be rejected, because there's no way to tell for sure whether or not savestates are being used.
Additionally, we're clarifying that, if playing on a flash cart like PowerPak or EverDrive, you cannot use the reset feature on in the cart menu. The reset button on the console must be physically pressed.
Finally, we're banning the RetroArch emulator. It has a unique method of reducing input delay, but can potentially be used to create a smaller amount of input delay than console, and has some strange side effects where certain inputs can be deleted.
All of the old runs will be grandfathered in, so no need to worry about your past submissions. We understand that a lot of submissions will be rejected because a lot of people don't bother to read all the rules, but we decided that it's the best move for the integrity of the leaderboard.
Yep, my bad, should've had it clarified in the rules before. In case you're wondering, the PAL version is banned right now because the timer is completely different.
Yeah, classify it as an emulator. Fair warning though, playing this on the virtual console will create input lag, which makes this game much, much harder to speedrun.
Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch Out play identically to each other, so this would not be necessary. There is input lag whenever you play on an emulator or an LCD TV, but this does not warrant the creation of an additional category.
You can, but recording it would be difficult, and the input lag makes it tougher as well. I first learned the game on 3ds though, so it's definitely possible.
I don't think either of those exist, but they would both put you at a huge advantage because the kash dash controller sucks.
Why do you think we should make a separate page for Mr. Dream Punch Out when they're literally the exact same game, the only difference being the sprite of the final boss? It seems really unnecessary to me.
There's not really any version differences that affect gameplay, so this should not be necessary.
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out are basically identical outside of the fact that the sprite for the last fighter is switched. I see no reason to not allow a run of regular Punch-Out.
