Hi, the Bionicle speedrunning community has recently set up a more structured mod group, and we'd like to see that reflected in the series moderators for the Bionicle series (https://www.speedrun.com/bionicle). It's looking like that series actually has no moderators listed (which is a bit weird), so I don't know if this is the right thread for this or not (let me know if not). The requested users are:
Derek_MK Torp CG_Footloose
We are all already leaderboard moderators for at least one game in the series, so we already have MFA set up on our accounts. Thanks!
If I understand how it works correctly, this is possible via a moderator editing an existing run (click the run on the leaderboards, then click the three dots on the right), and setting the runner name to something that does not identify the runner (like "Anonymous runner" or "Name removed" or something), since I'm pretty sure that does not have to correspond to an actual user on the site. It's a bit more time-consuming than a one-click "remove runner name" option, but it's there and fulfills the purpose if you're dead set against removing the run.
The only thing I'd be careful with is that 1) you wouldn't want to pick a name that actually has a user account on SRC, and 2) if the game/runner is high-profile enough, someone may try to retroactively register an account with the username you choose.
For country badge: It already appears next to your name on leaderboards because you have your country set:
For translators, the staff application page (https://www.speedrun.com/staffapplication) says that applications for translator aren't open yet.
I'm interested in this too, just from a point of being curious about the tech stack involved.
Even if the run itself is legitimate, just the act of hosting it on an adult site is honestly trolling in and of itself, and nothing's forcing you to not just reject it outright on those grounds.
Thank you very much for implementing this, and especially thanks for making it mandatory for mods/verifiers/etc. This should at least cut back on the frequency of these incidents.
I've heard a lot of people giving sentiments to the effect of "Why should I be inconvenienced if my own account is secure?" The answer is mainly that one person's account being compromised can affect other people. It's not just a matter of "Secure your account or something bad will happen to you." It's moreso "Secure your account or something bad will happen to you and all the people who run or spectate the game you moderate." So hopefully that puts things into perspective.
Potential future steps going forward to build on this could be to implement SMS-based 2FA, or even better, authenticator-based 2FA. Email-based 2FA is definitely a huge step up from nothing, but other forms of 2FA would make the system more effective (removing the vulnerability if someone's email account is also compromised), and potentially even more convenient for end users.
Hi, requesting modship for https://www.speedrun.com/lego_bionicle. Only current mod hasn't logged in in 6 months, and I have a couple pending runs on it, both WR (one from 1-2 weeks ago, and one from today). I also don't have a contact for him. Thanks!
Hi! About a month ago I posted a forum thread to the Bionicle series forum asking for Mata Nui Online Game to be added to the series, and I've received no response. It looks like one of the mods has been online recently (about 2.5-3 weeks ago), but hasn't done any actions on the site in a couple years. The other mod hasn't logged in in 8 months. Anything I can get done with this? Thanks :)
Hey all, we made some small changes to the rules:
-
"Emulated runs" have been set to "Banned." This is mainly a QOL change so that it shouldn't ask you if your run is emulated, when submitting a run.
-
New rule: You may not use window modification or Flash controls to skip gameplay. This is considered a cheat, not a glitch. No existing runs should be affected by this.
We're also waiting on the mods of the Bionicle series to add MNOG. Thanks!

Please add MNOG to the Bionicle series. Thanks!
