You can play 2P Golf on the same console and submit it under "Golf Challenges - 2 Players" on the category extensions. But the online categories are online only.
I'm so sorry for not seeing your post until now... :( I've thought about this idea as well and will add this as a subcategory for Island Cycling.
Plyd823 on the community Discord: "No runs will be accepted for the first week after the release of Switch Sports. This will give time for the mods to decide on the best categories and rulings and also filter some of the first week spam. Thanks for understanding 🙂"
You have multiple options to record gameplay:
- The easiest option is to use a camera (e.g. a phone camera) to film the TV screen.
- You can also connect your Nintendo Switch to a PC using a Capture Card, this will give you better video quality but also requires buying such a capture card.
The run that was WR for a few hours :D Should be WR for the shortest standing WSR All Sports WR.
A restart timing does already exist, just look into the Game Rules tab :)
In my experience it is more skill based. A player needs to learn to adapt to the different wind speeds + directions and pin positions on the green. Yes, RNG can screw you (e.g. 15m/s south wind on hole 3), but generally speaking due to how wind works it is most likely balanced out over a run (especially in 9 hole runs). If we consider the new DS subcategory you need to factor in other components, but in the "normal" No DS subcategory skill is more needed than good RNG (although the lower your times get the more these small RNG differences matter).
Yes, Tanks! 20 is not easy, but if a player puts in a day of training it is achivable. We made the 10 point barrier higher already so it is not too brutal.
With the Wii Play category for WSL this month we have chosen a very hard category for the first time and noticed that most players are not willing to put in a lot of time into it. This critic is valid and not the first time we got it and for the upcomming months we will go back to the concept "easy to finish but hard to master". We are still in the 2nd month and learning how to set up a good category - it will get easier next month. (Wii Sports Clubs WSL category is currently way more popular than OG Wii Sports or Wii Plays Categories, this should be a good indicator that there is smth. up with the difficulty.)
(There actually were 2 runs on the board, but one runner decided to delete his run.)
In my opinion this is not a good idea because it would give Bridge Burners 18 subcategories. There isa already a 1P Multiple Controller subcategory for GamePad Island if you want to play a multiplayer category by yourself.
Double Golf also has a "Blind" subcategory that should be changed to "Expert Mode" then.
Hello everyone, the timing rules for Golf categories changed a lot. Instead of "Timing starts when you select 'OK' after Mii Selection.", it is now "Timing starts on the first "A"-press on the preview of the first hole."
I retimed ALL 242 old Golf runs (incl. Obsolete ones). Runs without video got minus 8 seconds applied (the most common difference between the old and new timing), but luckily most videos were still available.
This rule change ONLY applies to pure local Golf categories that only include one course, in detail:
IT APPLIES TO: -18 hole runs -9 hole runs -3 hole runs -Golf Challenge runs (Category Extension)
IT DOES NOT APPLY TO: -IL-Golf runs (Pro Class/Max Level/All Stamps) -All courses runs -Training Golf runs -9 hole Online Co-Op runs -3 hole Online Co-Op runs -Bingo Golf Only runs (Category Extension) -All Golf Tour runs (Category Extension) -Speedgolf runs (Category Extension) -Quack% 3hole% runs (Category Extension) [-All other categories that are not Golf only]
There are 2 main reasons for this change:
- It eliminates all "loading RNG" at the beginning of a run. When you press "OK" after Mii Selection the amount of time the game needs to load the course/message that comes before it differs a lot and this can cause time differences of up to 2 seconds. The first load is no longer included in the timing this way.
- It is no longer required to exit out of the course entirely to start a new run, so this new timing method is an alternative to a restart timing.
Thanks to this we can apply milliseconds to tied WRs now. (For this reason the "Timing ends when the ball fully disappears in the cup on the last hole, not hopping out (or "Give Up" appears on screen).", which is more precisely formulated than before.)
A: "Timer begins at the press of "Start" for each respective difficulty [...]", not when start is displayed at the beginning of the game.
They just never existed here.
The reason for this is that TehWhack finds these categories arbitrarily with their ruleset and they do not require you to actually play the game (more like GiveUp%).
This is not faster than serving yourself because the opponents need some time to start their serve. If you play against high level CPUs and they return all 4 fast serves from you this is faster.
However, if you want to change the position of your Miis it is not disallowed to my knowledge.
I have to leave this relay beacuse it is the week before the final exams in school and I will not speedrun anything in this time.
If you play on any other screen ratio it DOES NOT make your run invalid. Just submit with the screen ratio you set in your Wii (or Wii U) settings.
@portalthree This is not the case for "All Games". https://www.speedrun.com/wii_fit_plus/full_game#All_Games
