ive tried both the cd rom and the big fish games version, and obs only captures a black screen for both. also, i have to alt+tab out of both versions to update splits (using livesplit.) anyone have solutions to these problems?

United States

from my experience, i have two suggestions: -record with desktop capture instead of game capture. you won't be able to have the livesplit window shown in the recording, but if you're on the BFG version (without the 640x480 resolution toggle turned on) then you'll at least be able to see the livesplit window alongside the game while you're playing it. if you do want to properly record it with a non-desktop capture setup, then you'll have to use option 2, which is -use a virtual machine. i use virtualbox personally, but there's also vmware which i havent really looked into as much. with a VM you can record the game without obs showing a black screen, and also have the livesplit window alongside it as well with a proper game capture-based recording setup. the resolution will be slightly shrunk, but there's a post in the i spy treasure hunt forum on how to fix that. hope this helps at least a bit

thank you so much! im using desktop capture with obs and the cd-rom version at the moment so theres another solution i was considering do you think it'd be acceptable to record the livesplit remote from my phone to match the livesplit timer from my pc? when i stream/record my game, i've set up obs so that livesplit is on the side of the screen... but after recording a run i discovered that the timer only visibly updates when i've alt+tabbed out of the cd-rom. but it /is/ always running in the background-- i checked by testing the livesplit remote app and it stayed consistent. i was thinking i could insert the video from my phone to the side of the screen with the pc livesplit timer. would that be okay, do you think? also, would a run without the phone recording be submit-able? even though the timer is 'frozen' it still shows when the run starts and ends, plus updates when i split. sorry this is a lot of questions!!!

i'm pretty sure it would be okay to submit the run with the phone recording, although i'll probably do a quick retime on the run afterwards just in case. as for if it would be okay to submit the run without the phone recording, i'd have to see what the partially frozen livesplit window actually looks like during a run to judge more confidently.

New Category

I added "All 3 Worlds Rounds 1 & 2" as a category. I have no idea why this wasn't a run category already because it seems like the obvious next step. This has also been done because the Big Fish Games version doesn't have the hard levels apparently.

Also due to this realization about the Big Fish G
