Currently, there is a timer manipulation within the game that causes the timer to freeze..for the IL and segmented runs it basically turns into spam the special to win. I propose that we maybe either make it within the rules to not allow the exploit or maybe split into two categories so that it gives people who dont want to spam specials non stop a chance to play the level normally

I like the idea, although specials are routinely used during stages, namely on the end bosses. If a distinct line between “special spam” and “other” can be drawn, it could work. I don’t think outright banning special spam is the right way to go, since as far as IL times are concerned, going fast is the goal, and there may be some optimal routes and strategies unique to the category.

Perhaps a “spam-less” category could be timed in RTA, from the start of battle to results screen, since it would de-incentivise mashing specials.

Special Spam would be like whenever I am doing it during long talk scenes while waiting for an event to trigger. Now bosses and and some crowd of enemies would be fine of course. However, a simple fix of making it RTA instead of IGT for the ILs could workor describing what is considered special spam etc...Now it could be a bit trickier for the Segmented Campaign run due to what Segmented is.

I might suggest having Individual Level and Segmented both split into two categories: IL timer and RTA, since special spam gives faster IL times, while In RTA, special spam is a liability. This would allow for both types of run in each category.

I agree that we need a mode for not spamming specials to freeze the timer. As it takes more time and sort of kills the whole point of a speedrun in my opinion.

Gi agree, however, how would we time the segmented run as a whole for rta since it is all done at different times per level etc

I'm fine with getting g rid of it. We can revisit this if someone comes along asking for it or finds a way to make it work.

Ok, I adjusted the ILs in terms of IGT and RTA and Final, I put all but one of your runs into RTA jsut to let you know. I will get the rest of the runs that I did on the IGT side soon lol.

Brief question about the RTA ILs, some stages cut to black after the boss, and some display a victory message. I assume the timer stops on the cut to black or when the victory message appears, depending on the stage?

Real Time Action This means the level is timed when you gain control of your character and ends when you kill the boss of the stage.

I timed it like the campaign runs to make it consistent
