Michigan, USAIf the current Utopia category was "any%", duping would be allowed. It already is in a 'no major glitches' state. I have been considering a "no 3rd person" mode for individual levels, but to lock someone out of using 3rd person for an entire run feels unnecessary. We have a community on discord where we occasionally discuss if we think a bug is too "game breaking" or not. Duping and flying have been banned for some time, very few have ever asked for a full game without 3rd person category. I suppose if we get more people who want such a category, I could add it, but I don't currently see banning 3rd person exploits as a possibility. If you want to see story islands done properly, you can find those runs in the individual levels category. 100% is probably what you're looking for, but like I said, a no 3rd person mode could be added there, especially if someone starts running them before I add the category.
The formatting of the page is atrocious, I agree, but if you don't want to speedrun a game because of 'the formatting of a webpage' then you don't belong here anyways. 👋 I've seen other games use category extensions to make their game look cleaner, and I've applied to change the formatting of this game twice to allow category extensions and have been denied both times. I'm, as far as I'm aware, unable to make it much cleaner without deleting our history.
I'm also aware that Minecraft has flooded the speedrun database with "_____raft" games, but there is no way that I know of to change that. I assumed we would move up the list with more runners, but that hasn't happened, so idk.
& @Bound, I'm basically the only mod. and I've been running it based on community feedback in our Discord. If there's ever a controversial issue, we've more than likely already discussed it over there. This is a democracy, not a dictatorship. 👍
DizDeLusa, That glitch has been known for a while (you could use a chair instead of a bed), and it's been discussed within the community on our discord. Most everyone agrees that the flying glitch ruins the game entirely, so as a community we have decided to keep it banned from I/L's and the main game mode. However, we did create an Any% (with glitches) mode. Currently, very few people run Any% because the current best way to run it is through item duplication via putting things in your chest, saving game, taking things out of the chest, saving game, leaving game, loading a world backup from two saves ago. It's alot of work to run Any%, but if you want to fly, it can be done there!

While I normally would agree, I feel as though the current glitches in Raft promote an unhealthy environment.
The glitch list, as far as I'm aware, is two glitches long. (please correct me if I'm wrong) Single player, you can cast your hook an infinite length. (multiplayer too, I suppose) Multiplayer, the 2nd player can loot a chest multiple times through lag manipulation.
So as for single player, honestly, I don't think the infinite hook glitch is very overpowered. We could technically lift the ban on that. However, to optimize the co-op run, you'd be required to either use an outside tool to force lag (and macros), or just play with someone on the other side of the world (with macros).
Personally, I don't think that way of speedrunning is a fair playing field.
If there's enough interest though, I suppose I could be swayed. I don't want to discourage you from doing the run, this game desperately needs runners. I'm just not going to create a category right away. What category would you be attempting anyway? Utopia or Balboa?
If you could get a Utopia any% in under 30min, or Balboa any% in under an hour with glitches, I'd be impressed. Maybe post it to our (dead) Discord, you'll be able to get ahold of me alot quicker there.

Obv gonna want that Radio Tower race. Timer starts upon ... feet first landing on the tower? Ends upon getting Vasagatan coordinates.
Vasagatan needs a race too. Time starts behind the metal bar line a few steps before the basement entry door, time ends upon getting Balboa coordinates.
Could Balboa have a race too? Time starts.... where water ends and land begins? There are 3 different entries to Balboa, I wouldn't feel right picking where it starts. Choose your own fate. Time ends when all 3 relay stations are turned on.
I don't even know where to begin. The categories CERTAINLY need some work, but I wouldn't even know what to suggest without potentially going overboard. So hey, let's get crazy.
I suppose I'll start with Coop Any%. It needs more clarity. Currently, Category Rules say: "Time stop when player enter the last room." That's not even proper English. Do we have a typo in the rules? I assume it's meant to say: "Time stops when both players enter the last room" But even then, you'll still be confused. Everybody knows with the Chapter 1 update, the games "last room" would be the final relay station in Balboa. But that's Category Rules... Game Rules say Any% is Radio Tower, and 100% is Balboa, so that would solve my whole question within this paragraph, however...
I've ran this game enough to realize that it's HARDLY going out of your way to collect all the notes. It might only add an extra 3-4 minutes to your run, but having Balboa named a 100% run bothers me. The notebook needs finished in my mind for it to technically be 100%.
Then comes glitches. We would have to take everything I've said up to this point and make two versions of each category to provide a place for glitch runners.
Main Categories: Utopia, Balboa, Co-op Utopia, Co-op Balboa, Misc. (100%, Co-op 100%, Radio Tower, Vasagatan)
Sub Categories within each of the mains: Easy, Normal, Hard, Easy Any%, Normal Any%, Hard Any% (Radio Tower/Vasagatan won't need difficulties)
