Full Game Rules

1. All Vanilla Characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Link) are allowed during runs.
2. Character Switching is allowed during the run
3. Timer starts at soon as the game loads
4. We have whitelisted/allowed the use of mods for the following:
5. For other episodes, only vanilla characters that allowed in the episode can be played unless specified otherwise
6. For episodes with world maps, Menu Quits used to change characters are not allowed.

Individual Levels

1. Must Use In-Game Timer to Beat the Level

4. For now, only vanilla characters are allowed for levels unless the level specifies otherwise.

Version Rules

1. The following version are allowed: 1.3, SMBX2, XTech Mode 2 or 3
2. Version 1.3 is allowed for only full games with RTA timing.
3. Version SMBX2 is allowed for Beta 4, using the default or 1.3 Lua Timers

Does anyone know if an emulated version of SMB2 is 100% accurate with load times, frame rates, and everything else?

Which emulator should I use and who should I contact to get a ROM of it?

I just saw the World Record run and it looked super fun to run and would like to learn the game.

The following is the ruleset for individual level runs.

If the individual level is tied to an episode, which is not a contest, then all powerups/characters are allowed.

However, if it is tied to an episode such as Lowser's Conquest Beta and The Invasion 2, only the powerups/characters you can gain access to are allowed in speedruns of that game.

Hello there, I have been wondering if there are any better recording programs out there.

I use bandicam and whenever I run it while super Mario bros x is active, my frame rate in my game drops to 25, and its really irritating to play since I frequently get lag spikes and sometimes the game just buffers in random input. This has cost me around 75% of my runs so I was wondering are there any recording programs that mitigate this issue?

I've been looking at the leaderboards and have noticed that there's levels misplaced and incorrect characters chosen on them. Is there anywhere that I can report these inaccuracies?

I have recently been speedrunning the with powerup categories with levels and is the blue boot slower than if you can run without stopping in the game?

I'm asking this because I can't seem to reach Mechdragon's 14:330 with the blue boot. I'm always .03 seconds off at fastest

Hello, there I have recently discovered smbx, and I would like to get into speedrunning. I have been looking at some of the runs and have been wondering, how do you start the in-game timer that mechdragon's videos have?

I have recently got into speed running and decided to choose Super Mario bros 3. However, I've noticed that some of my jumps were too short compared to Kirua's video when I was at Max P-Speed. Because of this, I think I have the PAL version of the game installed. Does anyone have a good link to the NTSC version?
