Have another one to add here: MU --- Max Upgrades

United StatesGamedraco5 years ago

For some reason, the Level Leader board "view all" section only counts the PC version times, and does not count times done on the N64 or Dreamcast. When Colbalt took down her times, there are levels that are now blank with a time. Could someone fix this please?

One other thing worth mentioning with damage that I have noticed playing tournament mode with upgrades is that the risk of damaging parts is much higher if you push your booster past the "Temp Warning" and into "Overheat" meaning your engines will catch on fire for certain in a few seconds. However, it is absolutely impossible to avoid this problem when speedrunning tournament mode because you will underheat and go nowhere near as fast as you have to on these runs by pushing your engines to the brink of engine fire. This part damage from redlining the booster all the time does not happen at all with the base level parts (No upgrades), and in Time Attack and Free Play mode where you can redline your fully upgraded parts with the impunity your base parts.

This "boost start" also works in the N64 and Dreamcast versions of the game too, and you get it the same way as on the PC in pressing the accelerator just as the 1 disappears. The Accelerator button in the N64's case is the A button, and if you are using an original Nintendo made N64 controller, it is the big blue button on the controller.

When it comes to sliding, you will be using it most of the time speedrunning because it helps retain momentum while turning, and especially when boosting as your turning ability drops sharply in boost.

As a two decade old veteran of the N64 version, here are some of the main differences not mentioned already about the N64 version.

  1. Music only plays during the final lap of the race.
  2. Inputs tend to lag compared to the other versions of the game.
  3. Records made on the N64 version are stuck forever unlike the PC version.
  4. Can only punch in 3 letters for game files.

Hi everyone this is Gamedraco here. I feel like the veteran of the game now having played it since I first got it brand new for the N64 in 2000, and it is incredible to see it still be played with a resurgence now. Love to hear back from all of you.

Sincerely, Gamedraco
