Would you like to enable two-factor authentication so that we can add you as a verifier?

I see, this is the glitch being used in the new any% run, but doesn't this require an existing save file on 5-5 to be useful at all?

More importantly, this incident made me realize the incompleteness of the leaderboard rules and the need to specify certain details. In a sense, I want to thank Yuuka for this. Yes, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, KazamiYuuka, for providing a perfect example of what NOT to do that will stay in the hall of shame for others to see. After thorough consideration, I decide to post the new rules that will be applied to all categories in this announcement. Here are the additions to the current rules: 1. Do NOT add, delete, or modify any game files, and by “any”, I mean ANY. Do not edit certain files so that you can change game speed in the campaign. Do not replace the Ares files included in an official release with other versions. You can use the official Chinese/Russian language pack and the official soundtrack, of course. Using unofficial translation patches is NOT allowed. Using your own mix files for soundtrack is discouraged, but still allowed. This should be common sense IMOH, but at the end of the day, the very notion of “common sense” is rather subjective. Therefore, it’s not a bad idea to make things clearer on issues like this. Negative examples: https://www.speedrun.com/mo/run/m3dxo0wz https://www.speedrun.com/mo/run/yj4j8qdy

If you want to submit a run with in-game time, you need to either include the evaluation screen or the internal frame counter from Livespit (http://livesplit.github.io/) in you video; the latter is preferred since it removes the influence of lagging. You can still submit a run if there is no proof of the actual in-game time, but it can only go by the real time in this case. If an existing run with no proof of its in-game time is slower than a newer run with faster real time, the the in-game time of the former will be removed so that it can be surpassed by the later.

So… yeah, that’s about it for the rule specification. Not a lot, actually. An important reminder: Speedrunning is a cooperative hobby, and the sharing of strategies is an important part of it. Your strats aren’t copyrighted or anything. If you don’t want others to use your strats, you probably shouldn’t upload the video at the first place. Last but not least, thanks everyone who participated in speedrunning Mental Omega in legitimate ways. As of this point, Mental Omega has the highest player count and 5th highest run count of all C&C games on the site. This would not happen without you guys. Hopefully, more people will join in the future!

I have recently been testing certain things on early Japanese release of D/P, so I updated some of MKDasher's lua scripts with Japanese D/P support and other features.

Loadlines: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/45103536094459113 I merged the data from the ones for Pt and HGSS so this single lua auto-detects your game and supports all US Gen 4 games and JP version of D/P.

RNG: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/45193133605920554 Support for Japanese D/P is added. The default mode is changed to Battle mode and will display critical hits and misses graph from FractalFusion's script. Now "next encounter" mode also displays the IVs and nature of stationary encounter generated with current RNG. Descriptions are added to the natures.

Pokemon data: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/45209523159510745 The extension lua file is unchanged. Auto-detection and support for Japanese D/P is added, and therefore you can't manually change game mode anymore. Added the option to switch modes by clicking on the arrow. Changed the color of buff and debuff to match Gen 5+ games. Edit: Now it also reads Gen 4 glitch Pokemon data.

It would be great if someone could please upload these to the resource page.

Drilbur is available right after the first gym. Does Drilbur/Excadrill not work as well as it does in Black&White 2?

Are there any similar combos that don't require Apollos though?

Thanks! What's the glitch that can be used to skip levels?

Fortranm7 years ago

Wonder how much time would major glitches save.

I guess this is known already. I messed with the entrance of Death Peak a little and experienced a phenomenon. Usually you can't pause the game when the wind blows you away, but if you inspect the tab and don't close the text box until the wind sequence start, you will be able to pause the game during the sequence, and even move the screen up a little as if you are walking upwards before the fade out. Somehow this only happens in English version. There is probably no way to break into the mountain unless there is a way to open the menu though. :(

Edit: Actually, nothing happens at the peak when I got there with walk through walls cheats. I suppose going there with Crono in the party doesn't do anything then.

Fortranm7 years ago

Is this "Future Skip" about breaking trough the guards after escaping from jail? It doesn't seem like that would be helpful because you probably won't be able to progress the plot if you can't find a way to Heckran.

Fortranm7 years ago

How are you able to get back to an earlier stage of the game in all endings runs? Is is possible to break into Death Peak early with glitches?

Fortranm7 years ago

That's good to know. A while ago, I found a way to recruit Razzly before going to Another World for the first time in new game+ (https://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Glitches_(Chrono_Cross).html#Access_the_Hydra_Marshes_Early). Not sure if it's useful for speedrunning.

Fortranm7 years ago

You absolutely do. Not finding Jessica leads you to "It's all too late" ending at the end of Chapter 2, which is before any of the glitches take place.

Fortranm7 years ago

I just tested it out. Finding Monica and talking to her twice are enough to make her show up at the final scene! The antibiotics can be skipped. Now it kinda makes sense that there is a branching point for "did you find Monica." It seemed a little redundant at first since simply finding her doesn't get you anywhere. All these signs together strongly imply that the player is supposed to be able to get to the final scene without finding Monica at one point during development. I didn't check if opening the container was enough or you had to talk to Monica though.

Such a surprise. Good news: you don't have to post on SNS in Ch.2 since the game seems too confused to give you "Seduced by the Snake" when you skip "Purgatory" in this way Bad new: So... Monica can't be completely skipped in Ch.3. I wonder if it's still possible to skip the antibiotic though.

Since Purgatory is triggered in a similar way, I wonder if this ending can be skipped as well. In this case it won't be necessary to find Monica.

Edit: It works! So "You can't use that here" would overwrite the trigger of Purgatory and Pre-established Harmony.

Fortranm7 years ago

@pa-Sama In your run, you hide in a closest during the first Scissorwalker sequence. Wouldn't it be faster to use an evasion point without QTE event?

Fortranm7 years ago

Saw this video on Youtube. It is helpful for speedrunning because it allows you to skip finding the wedding ring and giving it to Angie, getting the envelop and giving it to Jerome, and hearing about Vigo from Monica. It seems you do need to make a SNS post in Chapter 2 to avoid getting Seduced by the Snake in case you don't find the wedding ring in Chapter 1 though.
