Hi all,
As @paper2222 noted a couple months ago, the Neo update to Super Hexagon will change the SR.C competition drastically. While it will be great to have all devices unified (in theory) under the same engine, the engine's "bug fixes" includes fixing In-Game Time to match real time. Because of this, it looks like all runs submitted with the new engine will be unable to be <2 minute times. This of course makes most of the leaderboard obsolete.
Is anyone aware of obvious signs to distinguish submitted runs that are on old vs Neo engines?
Any feedback on differences between old & Neo versions or ideas on a path forward would be greatly appreciated.
PS: If you're waiting on a run to be verified, this is why I have not verified them yet, and likely won't until the leaderboard is resolved.
Thanks, Machs
Hello,
Per Google's recent update, unlisted YouTube videos from before January 1st, 2017 will be made private on July 23rd, 2021 unless a user opts out through this form: https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/older_unlisted_update
This essentially means that any speedrun submitted to Speedrun.com before 2017 as an unlisted video will become permanently unwatchable unless a user:
- Opts out of the change,
- Changes the share setting to public, or
- Re-uploads the video as an unlisted video and updates the url link on Speedrun.com
There are several runs on the Super Hexagon page that would be affected by this as they were submitted between 4 and 6 years ago. If you have one such run, the verified submission will NOT be required to be updated at this time, however, it is possible that a resubmission of such top 3 times will be required at a further date.
Hello,
Subcategories have been added to the Full-game Leaderboards.
There is a shared awareness that PC users are able to run the game quicker than Mobile users. That said, we do not wish to take away from the competition of PC players. To resolve this, you now select between "PC" and "Mobile" platform styles when uploading a run. Since all runs up to this point have been on PC there is nothing taken away from the PC runners, however this new system will allow mobile runners to have their own competition.
This addition will currently not be added to the IL leaderboard as High Score runs do not utilize any major PC-exclusive advantages.
Be sure to reach out if you notice any errors or bugs with the new subcategory system.
Hello,
As of today, this Crypto Rider page had some updates including:
- Addition of full game leaderboard
- Addition of "alt. tracks only" category
- Addition of remaining Alt. Tracks as IL levels
- Minor tweaks (e.g. shortened URL, rule clarifications, etc...)
Hello,
As of today, this Super Hexagon page had some updates including:
- Addition of IL leaderboard for Hyper Hexagonist
- Addition of misc. mode "awesome%"
- Addition of new leaderboard trophies (this is not finalized)
There are currently plans to implement a new category (or two) into the leaderboards to account for different devices. This may look like a mobile-only category, a "glitchless" category, etc...
There is also potential for implementing an IL leaderboard for each of the 6 levels, however, since reaching a certain score simply changes your level to the next level up in difficulty (albeit without the timer restarting to zero), the decision to implement this has not been finalized.
Edit: With the timing start frame now specified, if you would like a run re-timed, feel free to reach out. The difference between past timing methodology and "updated" timing appears to be within (or very close to) the potential deviation error common to the timing software, but I will happily re-time any runs already on the leaderboard up to this point (April 8th) per request.
Would Trails Frontier be able to be added to this series? It's not set up super well for full game runs but great for ILs
