if you cue up the smoke bomb, get into the ready animation then get muddled, nothing will happen. If you cue up the smoke bomb during the mad sickle animation you will throw it on the enemy.

Where were you thinking of using this? Also with the Harvesters we are not actively forcing it, it just happens depending on what move they decide to do

The community has a run similar like the one your asking about, we call it All Characters and Espers. The goal of the run is to get all 14 characters and 26 espers (Turning Odin into Raiden and Ragnarok Esper) then beating the game.
This may sound stupid, but would an ordinary hdmi in, usb out cable work for home consoles? This would be immediately helpful for my let's play series, and potentially for speedruns if I every decide to start speedrunning home console games.
Anything USB adds latency, you can record with it but you will have a delay off of the obs screen or whatever capture software your using, that is where the 1 in 2 out splitters or a external capture card with a passthrough is nice cause it adds next to 0 lag

Proper lag emulation is another since Nintendo is known for using an inaccurate emulator like ZSNES which is mostly universally banned for the same reason. The switch should run slower than an real console much like the snes classic due to the actual console running at a faster speed (60.09 for the snes, 60 (59.97) for the switch).

May as well add this here for updating sake, the ps3/pstv needs a splitter to strip hdcp to be able to be captured. Normally the cheaper the splitter the better cause it is not manufactured to hdmi spec and it strips the hdcp by accident. Since this is hardware based it is not like the ps4 where you can just turn it off

I agree with @Mastse007. You should have done a lot more research before making a thread like this. You have overlooked a large part of how to capture retro consoles, updating it over time is nice but what if someone went a purchased a dazzle/gvusb and found out that without a splitter now they have a huge delay and have to afford additional equipment (either y splitters or a powered splitters which is a 5 - 50 dollar additional purchase).

This stream guide is kinda outdated at this point but the format of it is really nice https://goo.gl/C78vWx . It gives the reader a look into what is all needed to have a complete set up and gives you various options.

"In terms of capturing a real genesis, I have no clue=Sizzyl" GV-USB2 man.

You can also use it for the Gamecube, and the N64. It can also capture S-Video which is a much higher quality over composite. most retro consoles from snes and onwards do up to component/RGB naturally, where the snes jr is stuck to composite output unless you mod it. Since most snes cables will also have S-Video you are recommending people use a lower source just cause.

There is also no mention of a splitter for the retro consoles, so are you telling newer streamers to play with the usb latency from the game capture window?

Rad2x, Retrotink, OSSC are also good (yet can be pricey) if you don't have a crt to play on. Yeah your monitor or tv may add some to no latency. In that case the gvusb2 is not needed as you can go with a HDMI based capture device and also play your retro consoles on a newer tv.

I can't take a recommendation list seriously when it has a dazzle on it when the gv usb2 exists. Where are also the avermedia products? Suggesting people to grab x console to hdmi is not always the best option when there are capture cards out there that will capture other forms of video outputs. Want to capture a sega genesis, we recommend using the Wii virtual console, what if I want to capture my actual sega genesis?

You don't even know what console he is trying to capture hdmi from. If it is a ps3 he needs a splitter anyways, unless the mira also strips hdcp

Well gameplay will be slower cause the gba runs slower than the snes (60.0988 for snes vs 59.7154 for the gba)

With something like the WIIVC which runs at 59.97 vs the snes 60.0988 you lose 2.8 seconds per 20 minutes. so with the gba it would be slightly more time but not much more. WIIVC also has the possibility to be faster due to it not emulating lag properly but we are kind of getting off course at that point.

Even if there isn't a board and you want to do a run cause you enjoy it you should go for it.

In the Snes version physical evasion doesn't work and everything is governed by magic evasion, it is easier to stack magic evasion than it is physical evasion.

The first time you go down the lete river you can get anywhere between 1 - 9 encounters, we manip the river to consistently give us 2. Same with the cid and the fishing if you have one set up, we can guarantee a 4 cycle healing to get him out of bed where on gba/steam you are just hoping for the best

The run uses a step route so we know where all encounters are and what they will be. The snes increments the seed value depending on how many resets and where you reset, where the gba is frame based so it makes it quite a bit difficult to always be on the same seed which is needed for most manipulations. It especially helps us in Kefka's Tower to avoid any unrunnable encounters

Ontario, CanadaDyne_Nuitari2 years ago

Advance isn't really harder to record cause you can screen capture bizhawk or whatever the allowed emulator in obs.

There just hasn't been any community interest in running the GBA version. Either due to the evasion fix, not having a step route, first river manip, fish manip, and kefka's tower possibly clobbering your run.

The graphics and audio quality is another issue for some of us. Since the GBA didn't have a brightness toggle on the console the greens were spiked way to high to increase brightness, the audio got quite a big decrease.

I have done a GBA All Characters and Espers Glitchless run and also on Steam. Unpopular opinion I found the steam version to be more enjoyable but your mileage may vary of course.

Your losing steps by skipping a large chunk of no encounter tiles from you walking path from Figaro Cave to South Figaro

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BDW5kHuP_Ry0B2J9AwG-Sdm5qML-IM8L/view?usp=sharing

This Image will show where they are located for that walk by the stone icons on the tiles. Movement in caves and such don't matter but overworlds do for most of the World of Balance. I haven't check anything else between your and couch's run but hopefully this is the reason why your losing those steps

That is not what Sabin said at all, what he said was ""The solo Terra Any% route was done in the past on the US version as a TAS but requires precise inputs and is extremely unlikely to achieve on console"" Have you tried doing the Solo Terra TAS route with the subframe resets? Not once did he mention the 4 man chart having precise inputs. You have come in here, claim a run is cheated cause you can't replicate it with no proof at all. A well respected member of the community gives you all the details and you are still on your original thought process. Stop picking and choosing small sections to fit your narrative and look a the whole picture

The Japanese Snes vs Japanese Wii runs are very different routes. It should be in its own pool but glhf with that happening, unless your going for WR it doesn't matter.

download the script, open Livesplit - Edit Layout - Click the + - Control - Scriptable Auto Splitter, it will not be added to your layout. Double click the Scriptable Auto Splitter and direct it to the script you downloaded. You may also have to right click Livesplit window - Compare Against - Game Time. There are 2 different scripts depending on what emulator you are using, so be sure to use 1.40.0 or 1.6.0 and the proper script. The super mod Bigmanjapan was online less than 12 hours ago and crisdoile2 was online last week, you can always send them a message through the site

It may not be the capture card but the tv that is creating the audio desync.

Ontario, CanadaDyne_Nuitari3 years ago

Is it a audio drifting issue (it starts at 0.5s but then gets more out of sync)? Does you tv have a 3.5mm headphone output you can run into the line in on your Motherboard to see if it still happens? I have had some issues like then then pulling certain audio formats going from the PS4 - Monitor - PC since my capture card does not take audio.
