Timing Methods

For individual levels, use In-Game Time (IGT) as the main method of tracking how many days it takes to complete your run, followed by 'Time' of the actual length of your run. Use the hundredths digit for the number of months, the tenths digit for the number of weeks, and the ones digit for the number of days. Shown below: the runs are ordered by default by IGT first, then the real-time value. This means if runs were to tie by IGT, they would then be ordered by the fastest real-times like normal leaderboards.

If a run were to take over 10 months, place the tenths digit in the Seconds value. So for example, a run of 12 months, 3 weeks, and 7 days would read as 00:01.237.

As for campaigns and other runs consisting of multiple levels, IGT will be defined by the sum of the days throughout the entire run. Shown below: the run consisted of four levels that went through 11, 24, 41, and 84 days, respectively. The total number of days is 160, so the IGT will be listed as 00:00.160. And again, the runs will be organized under IGT first, then sorted by fasted real-times.

I suppose calculating days in campaigns is a point to make mistake. For example, if we look at Vegard_Kristoffersen's New Beginning run, I'd prefer to calculate days simply summarising everything, like this:

124 + 323 + 234 + 347 = 1028 = 0h 0m 01s 028ms

Reading it that way based on how individual levels are laid out would be Month 10, week 2, day 8, which doesn't work in the game's case as there can't be a day 8. Another example, say 236 + 126 + 336 = 698, wouldn't work either as week and day would only read up to 4 and 7, respectively.

There is no necessity to compare time of campaign with time of levels. I just try to avoid math, because to convert 336 to days you should make equation (3-1) * 28 + (3-1) * 7 + 6 = 76 days, and I don't like this. Btw, in Heroes 3 all months are Februaries of non-leap year :)

@adamdotpng , I changed my mind and now I prefer calculating game days for campaigns as a sum of days.

I've found that in the end of campaign this number can be seen on a screen with dragon, so you don't need to calculate anything, you can just take this number and submit it to speedrun.com.

Unfortunately, @Vegard_Kristoffersen New Beginning run took 207 days instead of 160. I rewatched his speedrun and he used a lot of save/loads and apparently in some moment took wrong save.

Thank you for finding this oversight. I agree we should use the final screen to submit the total number of in-game days. I'll update the rules accordingly.
