When werster did that playthrough (which I watched recently), he intended it as just a first playthrough, not as a serious speedrun, at least not at the time. It was for that reason that he did not submit a time.
Here's to hoping some serious runs are done when the embargo is lifted.
There is a tm for payday, obtainable very early on, and the select group of Pokémon that can learn it include both Pikachu and Eevee. The problem with this is wild Pokémon are not fought in battle (with both lax, the birds and Mewtwo as exceptions, but those are all after you reach celadon anyway) which leaves trainers as the only option to farm money. And even then payday is best used when it's a KO option, especially as Eevee, who gets stab.
Also don't forget about the side quests involving obtaining sellable items (the pearl in pewter after poke-sitting a slowpoke comes to mind).
On Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 (both N64) there is the GB tower, where you can play your Pokemon RBY (and in Stadium 2, GSC).
Wonder trade runs of gen 6 or 7 are also best as races for this reason as well.
The bad news, BGB outclasses gambatte at accurate emulation, especially as far as glitches are concerned.

Unless you fight rival on route 22 (which is avoided in yellow glitchless), then it may be enough
Obviously that would mean getting Lapras from the Silph employee since you got Charmander instead of Squirtle. Then there's the pewter gym, where Squirtle had most of the advantage in any% glitchless (bubble before Brock does require additional exp, such as, say, a wild level 2 pidgey). But with all trainers, the extra exp is there to maybe get Nido ready for Brock; Yellow glitchless catches him at level 6 on route 2 (instead of level 4 on route 22) and levels him up (with the yellow-exclusive trainer) to 13 to get double kick in time for Brock, maybe substitute the out-of-the way trainer for the Y-exclusive one but you're switching to charm so that may still be not enough exp for double kick.

Of course, running 15 speed on Ursa is risky according to the PSR marathon XD run from this year because you wouldn't be guaranteed to outrun certain pokes you would be guaranteed on if Ursa were 16 speed or faster. Any of those pokes that are notable enough are mentioned in that run.
I have to agree with pikashy. I too am on the fence concerning streaming. I do recall however a video by SadisticMystic on YouTube with four feeds, all of which were on four different Pokémon Stadium 2 files who registered four different "two-Pokémon" teams to Little Cup R2 in a race to see which one got the championship trophy the fastest. But the feeds were relatively low quality compared to today (this was way before speedrun.com came into being and twitch streaming became a thing). I think it might even be possible to take this method of multi-streaming like in that video to the next level.
Just don't use any restore points (other than when you finish the tutorial) for 3dsvc.
I have a feeling it may be a site change because I want the ms to be visible again. For example, my 10 man smash run says 11 seconds on the site right now when it's 11.8 seconds. In fact it's the ms that separates my run from Rifle's and Ninjas' runs, both of which are ahead of mine.
I just remembered. Xerneas provokes Honchkrow, which Lucario can easily setup on, whereas Yveltal provokes Pyroar, which can kill Lucario with Fire Blast.
That explains the valentine's day (and the fact it works on march 14th as well in case valentine's and birthday are concurrent so as to avoid a birthday center cut scene), and indeed it's related to happiness albeit indirectly.
