This hasn't been as much of a problem for this game, but VIDEO proof is now required for runs of this game.
So this may be unpopular, however I feel it is necessary to make Skylanders Giants runs require VIDEO proof before I accept them in the future. Before you say this is just me trying to get the WR back, my runs are affected too. My reasons for doing this are:
- A few months ago a user named Dean10020 submitted a fake run, which had remained on the boards and would've done so if I hadn't been told about it
- We had an issue with the previous WR using something called Level data skipping, and if I had known about this I would've rejected the runs
- All the other Skylanders games require video proof, so why should this be any different (Imaginators will also change to video only as well)
I hope you recognise my reasons for doing this, and let's continue to make this game as quick as we can!
Ok, so due to Chapter 6/Chapter 7 not having a speedrun timer to display IGT, all IL runs are going to be retimed. Whenever you submit a run, submit it with RTA. Thank you,

So, I noticed nobody has added this yet, but I have been doing some runs of the game, and I believe it can rival Swap Force speedwise. These are the Skylanders I use:
Spyro - I use Spyro for the majority of the run due to its amazingly fast dash move that gives it the ability to take down a lot of enemies in a short amount of time.
Gill Grunt - In Chapters 4 and 5, there are massive water boost, making it much quicker to switch to Gill Grunt and use then. Gill Grunt can also clear the ice bowl in Glacier Gully much faster due to its water jetpack.
Tree Rex - One of the slowest Skylanders in the game, but only used when Giant skips are much faster to do than stay with a non-Giant Skylander.
So far, I have managed to PB at 2:31:56.8 RTA, but can already think of ways to improve the run.
-Possibly using a different Skylander to Spyro that is faster and can defeat enemies faster. The best I can think of is Flameslinger with Winged Boots (From the Dragon's Peak pack) along the Marksmen path to do a lot more damage (or possibly Pyromancy does more? Would need testing) -I completed the last 2 levels a minute and a half behind the time suggested. Just bringing these to the limit loses 3 minutes, bringing them down further saves even more.
Anyone else that has any suggestions, feel free to comment! Let's bring this game to the leaderboards
Hi guys, I'm new to speedrunning and to the forums, but I was wondering is there a way to tailor overworld movement so that encounter rates are lowered? In particular, Route 102, in the patch of grass skipping the Bug Catcher, is there a route that lowers encounter rates? Cheers
