Silmaranza and K9 split because SDA (a horribly irrelevant website) told them to, MisterPost mimiced what Sil and K9 did because why not.
I'd say the potential strategies involved with including the credits are worth more than the handicap you gain from forcing to put the credits at the end.
Not even to mention that splitting on the ACTUAL gain of % makes more sense than to do it at an arbitrary point before it. What if we find a glitch to skip credits earlier? You'd get the final % quicker. What if I fall asleep, and forget to skip the credits? It'll have taken longer for the % to be rewarded.
Similar to the 5 monkeys experiment: http://www.johnstepper.com/2013/10/26/the-five-monkeys-experiment-with-a-new-lesson/ Except here we never got sprayed with water to begin with. We splitted before the credits because SDA would beat us up if we didn't. Why do we keep beating each other up if we can just split at the point where % gets rewarded, and not at an arbitrary point like last input?
I originally voted for option 3, but after thinking about it a bit more and talking to S, I feel like option 1 is preferable, for consistency sake.
Option 1 works for all games, whereas option 3 clashes with the whole idea of using RTA as the standard timing method. Last meaningful input doesn't work, since you could ignore the autoscroller in San Andreas at the end (if you choose to do that mission last). Loss of control also doesn't work, since the last percentage point is added once you have regained control over the character after the credits.
In all honestly, 1 and 3 are equivalent, except for 1 giving you a free 1:30 minutes or so. It has zero impact on gameplay/routing which option is taken, and the run quality is not affected in any way. I have no major issues with option 3 being used, but it is a lot less consistent with how RTA works and how other runs are timed.
1 and 3 are the same with the exception that 1 is more consistent and fair for every runner. Final split should be when the 100% is awarded.
I'm okay with people splitting at the start of the credits if they don't want to wait, but then add 1:30 (or whatever the final cutscene duration is) to the submission time.
Or just do it like S with his 100% sa Splits. Split when the truck hits the bridge and then again later when the % is added.
Just to get this straight.. If you do Option 1, isn't it like you have no other way than doing the last mission as last thing to make the % of? I don't know but having the chance to go with a different route seems pretty neat as well.. Subtracting time later on doesn't seem that good tho..
Still a pretty hard decision for me to be honest :/
Option 1 allows you to do the last mission whenever because the credits are timed regardless of when they are.
Option 2 forces it at the end unless you wanna take the 2 minute timeloss, because you can split before the credits.
Option 3 doesnt force it at the end, but involves pausing the timer when it isn't.
A strawpoll wouldnt have allowed us to see who voted what, which is why I opted for doing it this way.
