Typically, I would consider that categories are worth if/when someone is actively running them. If someone had a run waiting to submit because the category isn't created yet is a lot better than a hypothetical.
The rules don't clarify, could you use E-Reader things in a speed run like load a Feather into your game as you complete 100%?
Shouldn't that category be called something.. other than No Save Corruption? Viewing a missingno corrupts your hall of fame data. So it corrupted your save.
I suppose it could always be re-timed too
So, I took a glance at the top videos of the default category, Alucard Any% NSC and they all have different starting times. So, how can they all be verified correct if they don't adhere to a standard? The WR starts the earliest while the runner up seems to have a timing that correctly starts at 0 when the player gains control of Richter and the guy after that has his timing start later.
Heya! I've started to learn Kirby Air Ride City Trial 120 recently! And I'm somewhat embarassed at my lack of knowing which name is which star during the run I submitted :P
But the time entered is incorrect? The timer was stopped early before Tabuu died and the time in the world record was earlier than the timer in the video anyway.
So I just took a glance as this and I have to ask. Why does Subspace any% say it requires video proof for world record when the world record, made yesterday?, does not have one?
Well, anywhere that I've looked at don't seem to care one way or the other what you label it as for a Dos based game.
Intense? It isnt very short but I wouldnt call it intense :p. Its about RNG and time management. You need to fulfill a list of objectives while waiting for some fairly rare things.
Super Metroid is what I would call intense. Or anything else that demands pefection using quriks in the game and multiple frame perfect timings
So two questions.
First pertains to this, an answer to a previous question.
You are allowed to modify it but don't make it super bright, at least make it so you its obvious which places are suppose to be dark

That is not a particularly good answer. I mean, I can just turn up the gamma on the computer and see in the dark perfectly. My default computer settings don't make it too difficult to see in the dark with the brightness set to the default max bright. Some monitors are just brighter. Can you fault a run because they run the game with higher gamma to make it faster? ie: The spirit of speedrunning is speed. And more importantly it is impossible to track so the only judgement call is 'Does this guy 'look' like his gamma is too high mining in the dark? Is he placing those torches because he knows something is there and needs to look like he doesn't?'

What of specific mod running? Someone might say, fancy a speedrun of how fast can they produce a town with every building in Millenaire. Or killing a copy of every mob in Grimoire of Gaia. Are mods really so unpopular as to not have anyone that wants to speedrun one?
This may be a dumb question but, would Dosbox fall under Emulated? I think it would.
Hey I started streaming not that long ago and while doing that I decided I should try speedrunning too. I've not tried speedrunning before so it should be fun! I'm trying to learn city trial 120 on Kirby Air Ride at the moment
I may try other games though I doubt I'll be able to master some of the crazy things I've seen like in Super Metroid. Still there are other games and obscure ones not even on the site yet I could always do! Like Gene Wars which shouldn't be terribly hard or Cosmic Break while the game still exists, being a very old mmotps that suffers from old software.
